Lac-Beauport, Quebec

Montmorency is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It comprises part of the Beauport borough of Quebec City and the municipality of Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost much of its territory to the new electoral district of Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré. It was named after François de Laval the first Roman Catholic bishop in New France.

The lac Beauport is a body of water located north of Quebec, surrounded by the municipality of Lac-Beauport, in the La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality, in the region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. It covers an area of 0.8 square kilometres (0.31 sq mi), at a maximum depth of 13 meters. The lake outlet flows into the Jaune River. Lac Beauport is mainly supplied by the outlet of Lagueux and Tourbillon lakes and by the outlet of a small unidentified lake. Lac Beauport is mainly served by the Chemin du Tour du Lac and some secondary roads for the needs of recreational tourism activities (especially vacationing) and forestry.The surface of Lac Beauport is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March.

The Battle of Québec was fought in October 1690 between the colonies of New France and Massachusetts Bay, then ruled by the kingdoms of France and England, respectively. It was the first time Québec's defences were tested. Following the capture of Port Royal in Acadia, during King William's War, the New Englanders hoped to seize Québec itself, the capital of New France. The loss of the Acadian fort shocked the Canadiens, and Governor-General Louis de Buade de Frontenac ordered the immediate preparation of the city for a possible siege.When the envoys delivered the terms of surrender, the Governor-General famously declared that his only reply would be by "the mouth of my cannons." Major John Walley led the invading army, which landed at Beauport in the Basin of Québec. However, the militia on the shore were constantly harassed by local militia until their retreat, while the expedition's ships, commanded by Sir William Phips, were nearly destroyed by cannon volley fire from the top of the city. Both sides learned from the battle: the French improved the city's defences, while the New Englanders realized they needed more artillery and better support from England to take the city.

The Lac des Roches (English: lake of rocks) is a freshwater body of the city of Quebec, in the region of the Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. It is the main reserve of drinking water in the arrondissement of Charlesbourg. Lac des Roches is mainly fed by five forest streams from the surrounding mountains. The rivière des Sept Ponts (English: river of the seven bridges) is a tributary of the rivière du Berger flowing in the sectors of Beauport and Charlesbourg, in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The upper part of the valley of the Sept Ponts river does not have a road. Its lower part, downstream from Lac Bégon, is located mainly in urban areas and is mainly served by Boulevard Henri-Bourassa, Rue Sophia Melvin and Rue des Nations Est. Taking its source in the Lac des Roches, it has a length of approximately 5.3 km. The valley of the Roches river does not have a road except its upper part which is served east of Lac des Roches by Arthur-Drolet road and northeast by Lac-des-Roches road. While its lower part crosses an urban area. The rivière Hibou (English: Owl River) is a tributary of the rivière des Hurons, flowing in the heart of the municipality of the townships of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury, in the La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. Located north of Quebec (city), the Hibou river valley is mainly served by the Grande-Ligne path, the Hibou path and a few urban streets. The surface of the Hibou River (except the rapids areas) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; however, safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

Lake Saint-Charles (French: Lac Saint-Charles) is a lake located in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It is located partially within the Quebec City borough of La Haute-Saint-Charles (section West) and partially within the united township municipality of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury (section East). Lake Saint-Charles is the source of the Saint-Charles River. Located less than 20 minutes from downtown Quebec City, it is an important natural habitat to Quebec City area residents. Lac-Delage and the borough of Charlesbourg also administer a portion of its drainage basin. The rivière Noire (English: Black River) is a tributary of the rivière des Hurons, flowing in the heart of the municipality of the townships of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury, located north of the city of Quebec, in the La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of the Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The Black River valley is mainly served by route 175 and boulevard Talbot.The surface of the Black River (except the rapids areas) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; however, safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

Lac-Saint-Charles is a former city in Quebec and is now a district of the Quebec City borough of La Haute-Saint-Charles. The population as of the Canada 2011 Census was 9,886. It existed from 1946 until being amalgamated into Quebec City in 2002.

Lac-Saint-Charles–Saint-Émile is the northernmost district of Quebec City located in the borough of La Haute-Saint-Charles. The district was created following an electoral reorganization in 2009. Before the 2000–2006 municipal reorganization in Quebec, the area was occupied by the cities of Saint-Émile and Lac-Saint-Charles.
