La Haute-Saint-Charles is a borough of Quebec City. Population (2006): 74,070. It comprises Lac-Saint-Charles, Saint-Émile, Neufchâtel, Loretteville and Val-Bélair. It also entirely surrounds the urban Indian reserve of Wendake, which is autonomous from the borough.

Lake Saint-Charles (French: Lac Saint-Charles) is a lake located in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It is located partially within the Quebec City borough of La Haute-Saint-Charles (section West) and partially within the united township municipality of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury (section East). Lake Saint-Charles is the source of the Saint-Charles River. Located less than 20 minutes from downtown Quebec City, it is an important natural habitat to Quebec City area residents. Lac-Delage and the borough of Charlesbourg also administer a portion of its drainage basin. Lac Saint-Charles is served on the east side mainly by the Grande Ligne road and on the west side by the Lac-Saint-Charles road for the needs of recreational tourism and forestry.The surface of Lake Saint-Charles is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March.

Lac-Saint-Charles–Saint-Émile is the northernmost district of Quebec City located in the borough of La Haute-Saint-Charles. The district was created following an electoral reorganization in 2009. Before the 2000–2006 municipal reorganization in Quebec, the area was occupied by the cities of Saint-Émile and Lac-Saint-Charles.

CIHW-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts to the Huron-Wendat Nation. Broadcasting on 100.3 FM, CIHW is a community radio station operated by the Huron-Wendat Nation at Wendake, an enclave of First Nations land within Quebec City.

The rivière Noire (English: Black River) is a tributary of the rivière des Hurons, flowing in the heart of the municipality of the townships of Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury, located north of the city of Quebec, in the La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of the Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The Black River valley is mainly served by route 175 and boulevard Talbot.The surface of the Black River (except the rapids areas) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; however, safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March. Wendake is the current name for two urban reserves, Wendake 7 (46°51′24″N 71°21′12″W) and Wendake 7A, (46°52′13″N 71°21′54″W) of the Huron-Wendat Nation in the Canadian province of Quebec. They are enclaves entirely surrounded by the La Haute-Saint-Charles borough of Quebec City, within the former city of Loretteville. One of the Seven Nations of Canada, the settlement was formerly known as Village-des-Hurons ("Huron Village"), and also as (Jeune)-Lorette ("New Lorette"). Since the late 20th century, archeologists have found large 16th-century villages of the Wendat (Huron) in the northern Lake Ontario region, which is where they believe the people coalesced as a distinct group. Later they migrated south and by the early 17th century had settled in their historical territory of Wendake in the Georgian Bay region. The Wyandot Confederation was made up of loosely associated tribes who spoke a mutually intelligible Iroquoian language.

The Park of the Kabir Kouba Cliff and Waterfall is a public park in Quebec City, Quebec crossed by the Saint-Charles River. The rapids and falls of this section of the river are called Kabir Kouba the «river of a thousand bends» in the Montagnais language. An interpretive center and trails permit the observation of the Kabir Kouba waterfall that has a height of 28 metres. The trails also provide a view of the canyon which at its highest point measures 42 metres as well as a rich variety of flora, fauna and fossils dating over 455 million years old. The interpretive center also offers services such as Kabir Kouba by Lantern, A Day at Loretteville package as well as guided visits of the falls. A song by the singer Claire Pelletier, Kabir Kouba, evoques the many Huron legends that honour the river and the waterfall.

Loretteville is a former city in central Quebec, Canada. It was amalgamated into Quebec City on January 1, 2002. It is located within the borough of La Haute-Saint-Charles, and also contains the upmarket neighbourhood of Montchâtel. Its population in 2001 was 13,737 residents. Loretteville is the birthplace of pop singer Mitsou and Rockford Ice Hogs goalie Jean-François Rivard and poet/musician Geneviève Castrée.
