Beauport Lake

Montmorency is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. It comprises part of the Beauport borough of Quebec City and the municipality of Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost much of its territory to the new electoral district of Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré. It was named after François de Laval the first Roman Catholic bishop in New France.

The Battle of Québec was fought in October 1690 between the colonies of New France and Massachusetts Bay, then ruled by the kingdoms of France and England, respectively. It was the first time Québec's defences were tested. Following the capture of Port Royal in Acadia, during King William's War, the New Englanders hoped to seize Québec itself, the capital of New France. The loss of the Acadian fort shocked the Canadiens, and Governor-General Louis de Buade de Frontenac ordered the immediate preparation of the city for a possible siege.When the envoys delivered the terms of surrender, the Governor-General famously declared that his only reply would be by "the mouth of my cannons." Major John Walley led the invading army, which landed at Beauport in the Basin of Québec. However, the militia on the shore were constantly harassed by local militia until their retreat, while the expedition's ships, commanded by Sir William Phips, were nearly destroyed by cannon volley fire from the top of the city. Both sides learned from the battle: the French improved the city's defences, while the New Englanders realized they needed more artillery and better support from England to take the city.

Lac-Beauport is a town in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada, located on the eponymous Lake Beauport. It has a population of about 8,200 people, and lies about 25 kilometres north from downtown Quebec City. Lac-Beauport is the home of Le Relais ski centre.

The Lac des Roches (English: lake of rocks) is a freshwater body of the city of Quebec, in the region of the Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. It is the main reserve of drinking water in the arrondissement of Charlesbourg. Lac des Roches is mainly fed by five forest streams from the surrounding mountains. The Lake Saint-Charles is served on the east side mainly by the Lac des Roches road and on the south side by the Arthur-Drolet road for the needs of recreational tourism and forestry.The surface of Lake Saint-Charles is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March.

The Rivière des Roches is a tributary of the rivière du Berger flowing in the sectors Beauport and Charlesbourg in Quebec City, in the region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. Taking its source in the Lac des Roches, it has a length of approximately 5.3 km. The valley of the Roches river does not have a road except its upper part which is served east of Lac des Roches by Arthur-Drolet road and northeast by Lac-des-Roches road. While its lower part crosses an urban area. The surface of the Rivière des Roches (except the rapids areas) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; however, safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

Charlesbourg—Haute-Saint-Charles (formerly Charlesbourg and Charlesbourg—Jacques Cartier) is a federal electoral district in Quebec, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1979.

The rivière des Sept Ponts (English: river of the seven bridges) is a tributary of the rivière du Berger flowing in the sectors of Beauport and Charlesbourg, in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The upper part of the valley of the Sept Ponts river does not have a road. Its lower part, downstream from Lac Bégon, is located mainly in urban areas and is mainly served by Boulevard Henri-Bourassa, Rue Sophia Melvin and Rue des Nations Est. The surface of the Sept Ponts river (except the rapids areas) is generally frozen from the beginning of December to the end of March; however, safe circulation on the ice is generally done from the end of December to the beginning of March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

The rivière du Lac (English: River of the lake) is a tributary of the west bank of the Montmorency River. This watercourse flows on the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, in the city of Quebec, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. This valley is mainly served by the Lac-des-Roches road which passes on the north bank of this watercourse. Forestry is the main economic activity in this valley; second resort; agriculture (in the lower part around the village of Côte-du-Lac), third. The surface of the Lac river is generally frozen from the beginning of December until the end of March; however, safe circulation on the ice is generally done from mid-December to mid-March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

The Rivière aux Pins (English: Pine River) is a tributary of the Montmorency River, which is a tributary of the north shore of the St. Lawrence River, flowing in Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval, in the La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality, in the administrative region of Capitale-Nationale, in the province of Quebec, in Canada. The lower part of this valley is served by avenue Sainte-Brigitte, by rue des Monardes and by rue du Ruisseau. The upper part is served by a secondary forest road. Forestry is the main economic activity in this valley; second, recreational tourism. Because of its altitude, the surface of the Richelieu River is generally frozen from the beginning of December until the end of March; however, safe traffic on the ice is generally from mid-December to mid-March. The water level of the river varies with the seasons and the precipitation; the spring flood occurs in March or April.

Charlesbourg is a borough of Quebec City, in the northeastern part of the city, west of the borough of Beauport.

Charlesbourg is a provincial electoral district in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It consists of part of the Charlesbourg borough of Quebec City. It was created for the 1973 election from parts of Chauveau and Montmorency electoral districts. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost very small amounts of territory to Jean-Lesage and Montmorency electoral districts. In the change from the 2011 to the 2018 electoral map, the riding will gain some territory (roughly the area between Rivère des Roches to Rue George-Muir) from Chauveau.

Sainte-Brigitte-de-Laval is a city in La Jacques-Cartier Regional County Municipality in the Capitale-Nationale region of Quebec, Canada. Its urban area is located in the hollow of the Montmorency River valley, northeast of Quebec City. The city is named in honor of Brigid of Kildare as a recall the irish origin of the first settlers. The name Laval comes from the situation of Sainte-Brigitte in the seigneury of Beaupré, whose first owner was François de Laval, bishop of Quebec.
