Aspen Institute Wye River Conference Centers

The Wye River is a 16.3-mile-long (26.2 km) tributary of the Chesapeake Bay, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It was named by the Lloyd family, Edward Lloyd (delegate), and Edward Lloyd (Governor of Maryland), after the River Wye in the United Kingdom. It falls within Queen Anne's County and Talbot County, and joins the Miles River near its mouth to the Eastern Bay. The river is popular with recreational boaters because of its secluded anchorages, fishing, crabbing and proximity to the tourist attractions of St. Michaels, Maryland. Like many rivers on the Chesapeake Bay, the Wye is largely tidal. The river's features include the 2,800-acre (11 km2) Wye Island, most of which is part of the Wye Island Natural Resources Management Area, managed by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources State Forest and Park Service. William Paca, the third governor of Maryland and a signatory to the Declaration of Independence, once owned the island. The nearby Aspen Institute Wye River Conference Centers (sections of which were formerly known as the "Wye River plantation") hosted the 1998 Mideast Peace talks attended by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat, and hosted by US President Bill Clinton that culminated in the Wye River Memorandum. The watershed also includes the Wye Research and Education Center, operated by the University of Maryland College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Maryland Agricultural Experiment Station (MAES). They conduct agricultural research and education, in cooperation with the nearby Aspen Institute Wye River Conference Centers. Elián González and his father stayed at the Wye River Plantation briefly in 2000.Water quality is threatened by development.

WRHS is a commercial radio station licensed to Grasonville, Maryland, broadcasting mainly to the Annapolis / Anne Arundel County area and the Eastern Shore of Maryland on 103.1 FM. Owned by Peter & John Radio Fellowship, Inc., WRHS rebroadcasts the Contemporary Christian music of the co-owned WRBS-FM, which is branded on-air as Bright-FM. The station's transmitter is located in Grasonville/Queenstown, on Maryland's Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay. It is a "Class A" radio station. WRHS mainly focuses on the Annapolis area, as well as the rest of Anne Arundel, Queen Anne's, and Talbot Counties, although the signal covers Baltimore, Annapolis, the eastern Washington, D.C., suburbs, and many other densely populated areas.

Wye House is a historic residence and former headquarters of a historic plantation house northwest of Easton in rural Talbot County, Maryland. Built in 1781–1784, it is a high-quality and well-proportioned example of a wooden-frame Southern plantation house. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970.

The Doncaster Town Site is an archeological site near Easton, Talbot County, Maryland. The site is located on one of the earliest land grants in Talbot County, surveyed on October 18, 1658. It is the location of the first Roman Catholic Church erected on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. The town was erected in 1684 and was one of the first planned towns in Maryland. At its peak Doncaster would have contained inns, a chapel, warehouses, a ferry, stores, stocks and a whipping post, a public square, and a number of residences. Archeological deposits were recorded in 1961. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Grasonville is a census-designated place (CDP) in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 2,193 at the 2000 census.

St. Peter's Church, also known as the Church of St. Peter the Apostle, is a nearly 200-years-old Roman Catholic church located in Maryland's Eastern Shore near Queenstown. It is a prominent landmark along U.S. Route 50 in Maryland, which is part of the main route from Washington and Baltimore to Atlantic beach resort towns in Maryland and Delaware. Catholics came to Kent Island around 1639, and moved to what became the Queenstown area shortly afterwards. They originally practiced their religion discreetly in their homes. The parish of St. Peter's was established in 1765, and the original chapel was constructed some time in the next 20 years. This was the third permanent mission on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Construction of the present church began in 1823 and was completed in 1827. The building was expanded in 1877 after fundraisers were unable to raise enough money to build a completely new building in town. A portion of the church's exterior shell is the only part remaining from the 1827 structure. The church, which is built in the Victorian-Gothic style, has a steep roof and rose windows, and is located very near to the road. The interior is mostly the same as it was in the 1877 Victorian construction period, and contains all of the stained glass and altar furniture from that period. The church was placed in the National Register of Historic Places on March 10, 1980.

Bloomingdale is a historic home located at Queenstown, Queen Anne's County, Maryland. It is a Federal style, 2+1⁄2-story, Flemish bond brick mansion. The main block measures approximately 51 feet long by 37 feet deep, and was built in 1792. A brick hyphen and wing are attached on the southeast.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

Queenstown is a town in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 664 at the 2010 census.

The Wye Town Farm House is a historic home in Easton, Talbot County, Maryland, United States. It is of brick construction, one and one-half stories high and two rooms deep with a small one-story brick kitchen. A two-story addition was made in the 20th century. The original section of the house dates from about 1800.The Wye Town Farm House was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Double School House Number 6 is a historic school house located in Queenstown, in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, United States. The double school house was built after a large fire in Queenstown. The property was purchased by school trustees James Masey and his wife, in 1834. As was common at the time, the building featured two separate entrances for boys and girls. In 1874, a larger school house was built on Del Rhodes Avenue, to serve the community of 250 residents. The school was moved to a new alignment and converted to a private residence in 1884.

Bowlingly (often spelled 'Bolingly'), also known as Neale's Residence and The Ferry House, is a historic home located at Queenstown, Queen Anne's County, Maryland, United States. It is a large brick dwelling house constructed in 1733 on a bluff overlooking Queenstown Creek. The original house is a two-story brick structure that is seven bays long and one room deep, with flush brick chimneys at either end of the pitched gable roof. On August 13, 1813, a flotilla of British Royal Navy warships landed at Bowlingly's wharf during the War of 1812. British troops who disembarked from the warships proceeded to sack the home before being engaging the local Maryland militia.The history of the property begins in September 1658 with a survey and then in January 1659 the Proprietor granted "James Bowling all that parcell of lands called Bowlingly lying ... on the east side of a creek in the said bay called Coursey's Creek, beginning at a marked cedar tree standing by a cove called Bowling's Cove". James Bowling was mainly active in Charles County, Maryland and probably never lived at this site. In 1664, he transferred the property "Bowlingsley in Talbot County" to William Calvert (son of Leonard Calvert) and his wife Elizabeth. Bowlingly was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.
