Purdown BT Tower, also known as Purdown Transmitter (sometimes written as Pur Down), is a 70.1 metres (230 ft) tall telecommunications tower in Bristol, England. Built in 1970 for the British Telecom microwave network, it is now used to transmit radio and provide mobile phone coverage. The tower is located on a hill, Purdown, in Stoke Park in the Lockleaze suburb, about 2 miles (3.2 km) north of the city centre. It is a prominent landmark visible from many areas of the city, and from major transport routes on the approach to the city, including the M32 motorway and Filton Bank railway. The tower is recorded as a Valued Landmark by Bristol City Council, and it has been featured in locally-produced media, such as the opening sequence of TV series Skins (2008). It is one of fourteen reinforced concrete towers owned by BT in the UK.

Purdown (sometimes spelt Pur Down) is a hill in the north east of Bristol, England. The suburb of Lockleaze lies on its western flanks, and the Stoke Park estate occupies its eastern flanks. The M32 motorway crosses the eastern side of the hill. The Purdown BT Tower is constructed near the highest point of the hill.

It is one of three secondary schools in the Cathedrals Schools Trust (CST) along with Bristol Cathedral Choir School & St Katherine's School. Lockleaze is an area and council ward in the northern suburbs of the city of Bristol, England, 3 miles (5 km) north of the city centre, south of Filton, east of Horfield and west of Frenchay. Lockleaze is a residential area of social housing built on the western flank of Purdown on a north–south axis, that was initially separated from Horfield by the main Bristol to South Wales railway line. The suburb was developed immediately after World War II. Although much of the housing was owned by Bristol Corporation, some are now privately owned. The Lockleaze council ward was extended to include older Bristol council housing and the border with Horfield is the thoroughfare, Filton Avenue. Lockleaze School was designed by the city architect A.H. Clarke and built in 1954. It is an early example of 'Method Building' using pre-cast frame with pre-stressed floors and brick panel walling. The school closed in July 2004. St Mary's Church dates from 1956 by T.H.B. Burrough.A microwave transmission tower, Purdown BT Tower, is located at Lockleaze and is known locally as the "Cups and Saucers". The distinctive tower, built in 1970, can be seen from many miles away. During World War II, an anti-aircraft gun emplacement, known locally as Purdown Purcy, was located on the down, the ruins of which remain today.

The Church of Holy Trinity is an Anglican church on Bell Hill in Stapleton, Bristol, England. It has been designated as a grade II* listed building.It was built in 1857 by John Norton, in a gothic revival style, with a spire which reaches 52 metres (171 ft). It is believed that a church has occupied this site for at least 500 years. The rebuilding of the church was funded by James Henry Monk, Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol. Pennant stone from the local Broom Hill quarry, was used in the construction, with Bath Stone dressings. It has a three-bay chancel and five-bay nave.Inside the church is a font in the West porch dates from around 1000 AD. There is also a Victorian ornate font with a cover, which was imported from another church. The organ, by Vowles of Bristol was installed in the 1970s. There is a stained glass window dating from 1887 which was made by Charles Eamer Kempe. One of the other windows is a memorial to Captain Gore-Langton, the son of William Gore-Langton (1760–1847). who died at the Battle of Waterloo.In 2015 an appeal to raise £250,000 for repairs to the fabric of the building and the roof. The state of the tower means that the six bells it holds may not be safe to ring.The parish is part of the benefice of Frenchay and Stapleton within the Diocese of Bristol.

Collegiate School (formerly known as Colston's Collegiate School and Colston’s School) is a private day school in Bristol, England, and is a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference. It is currently in a period of transition from the name Colston’s to Collegiate after BLM protests in 2020. It was founded in 1710 by the merchant, Member of Parliament, philanthropist and slave trader Edward Colston as Colston's Hospital, originally an all-boys boarding school. Day-boys were admitted in 1949 and girls were admitted to the sixth form in 1984. In 1991 it merged with the Collegiate School, a girls' school in Winterbourne, and was given the name Colston's Collegiate School, but this was reverted to Colston's School in 2005. The current headmaster of the upper school is Jeremy McCullough (since September 2014); he joined the school from Lancing College.

South Purdown, Bristol, is an ancient green space located in north Bristol, England. The area of land is bordered by central Muller Road, Sir Johns Lane Allotment site, Stoke Park, Lockleaze Open Space and the Priory Hospital, and has been designated a Site of Nature Conservation Interest and an important wildlife corridor.Known for its natural unmodified meadows alongside outstanding views across the west of Bristol City, the area is traversed by a number of public footpaths, used heavily by local running groups and dog walkers, and is regularly used for local wildlife events, including Bat Walks due to its strong and abundant hedgerows. Numerous neighbourhood events take place at South Purdown, involving local community groups, individuals and schools.

Stapleton is an area in the northeastern suburbs of the city of Bristol, England. The name is colloquially used today to describe the ribbon village along Bell Hill and Park Road in the Frome Valley. It borders Eastville to the South and Begbrook and Frenchay to the North. It comprises an eclectic mix of housing mainly from the Victorian, Edwardian, inter-war and late 20th century periods. It is a popular residential area on three counts. It is convenient for the M32 motorway (with rapid access the M4 and M5), it is a semi rural area within two miles of central Bristol and it boasts a popular public school. Stapleton's church is a prominent Bristol landmark, visible from the M32 motorway as motorists pass by.

Stoke Park is a public open space of 108 hectares (270 acres) in Bristol, England. It occupies a prominent position on the eastern flanks of Purdown, alongside the M32 motorway, together with the landmark Dower House and Purdown transmitter. Approximately 80% of the park is within the Bristol ward of Lockleaze; the remainder is within South Gloucestershire. Bristol City Council plan to extend cattle grazing throughout the park between April and November 2018 to stop the spread of invasive scrub and as an educational resource. There has been some public opposition to developments in the park. Petitions have opposed the felling of hundreds of trees in a stretch of young woodland and the construction of a 3m wide path which could stretch for nearly 2km across the park's meadows.

Eastville Park is an urban park in Bristol, England. The grounds that became the park were purchased from Greville Smyth of Ashton Court and the boundary walls are listed with Historic England. The facilities include a lake and tennis courts.

Horfield railway station was a railway station serving the northern part of Horfield and Lockleaze in the north of Bristol, England. It was located on the main line from Bristol to South Wales. It was served by stopping trains to Severn Beach (via Pilning), Avonmouth (via Chittening) and Swindon (via Badminton).

Eastville is the name of both a council ward in the city of Bristol in the United Kingdom and a suburb of the city that lies within that ward. The Eastville ward covers the areas of Eastville, Crofts End (also known as Clay Hill), Stapleton and part of Fishponds. Notable places within the ward include Bristol Metropolitan Academy ( formerly Whitefield Fishponds Community School) and Colston's School, and the Bristol and Bath Railway Path also passes through the ward.
