Point Pleasant Beach School District

The Point Pleasant Canal is a canal in Point Pleasant, New Jersey. It was completed in 1925 to connect the Manasquan Inlet and Manasquan River with Bay Head Harbor on the northern end of Barnegat Bay. The canal is part of the Intracoastal Waterway. With the completion of the canal, the Barnegat Peninsula effectively became an island. The island is connected to the mainland by two lift bridges spanning the canal; as well as three bridges to the south which cross the Barnegat Bay. The bridges, at Route 88, at Bridge Avenue (the Lovelandtown Bridge), at Mantoloking Road (the Mantoloking Bridge), and two bridges at Route 37 (the Thomas A. Mathis Bridge and the J. Stanley Tunney Bridge), open on demand, halting motor traffic to allow boats to pass underneath as marine traffic has the right of way.

As of the 2019–20 school year, the district, comprised of four schools, had an enrollment of 2,842 students and 236.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 12.0:1.The district is classified by the New Jersey Department of Education as being in District Factor Group "FG", the fourth-highest of eight groupings. District Factor Groups organize districts statewide to allow comparison by common socioeconomic characteristics of the local districts. Point Pleasant is a borough situated on the Jersey Shore, in northern Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 18,941, an increase of 549 (+3.0%) from the 2010 census count of 18,392, which in turn reflected a decline of 914 (−4.7%) from the 19,306 counted at 2000 census.The borough is a Jersey Shore community situated south of the Manasquan River and north and east of the Beaverdam Creek and its confluence with the Metedeconk River. Point Pleasant was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on April 21, 1920, from portions of Brick Township, based on the results of a referendum held on May 19, 1920. The borough was reincorporated on March 12, 1928. Point Pleasant is distinct from Point Pleasant Beach, which is a separate community. The borough gets its name from Point Pleasant Beach, which gets its name from its location at the northern end of the Barnegat Peninsula, a long, narrow barrier peninsula that divides the Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean at the Manasquan Inlet.

Point Pleasant Borough High School is a four-year comprehensive community public high school located on Laura Herbert Drive in Point Pleasant in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. The school serves students in ninth through twelfth grades, operating as the lone secondary school of the Point Pleasant School District. The mascot is the panther, and the school colors are black and gold.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 891 students and 82.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.8:1. There were 62 students (7.0% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 18 (2.0% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Point Pleasant Beach High School is a four-year, comprehensive community public high school that serves students in ninth through twelfth grades from Point Pleasant Beach in Ocean County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, operating as the lone secondary school of the Point Pleasant Beach School District. The school has been accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools since 1939 and is accredited through July 2025.In addition to the students of Point Pleasant Beach, the high school serves the students of Bay Head and Lavallette for grades 9-12 and those from Mantoloking for K-12, as part of sending/receiving relationships, as well as some students who attend on a tuition basis. The district earned more than $650,000 in revenue by accepting 85 tuition-paying students in 2015–16, many of whom played on the school's athletic teams, leading to claims that the school is competing unfairly with other schools that don't accept outside students.As of the 2021–22 school year, the school had an enrollment of 373 students and 36.9 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 10.1:1. There were 20 students (5.4% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 11 (2.9% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.

Bay Head is a railway station in Bay Head, in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. The station is served by trains on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line, and it is the southern terminus for the line. The rail yard contains 33 acres (13 ha) of wetland inside the loop formed by the tracks used to turn around the trains. The rail yard borders Twilight Lake. Parking is free at the Bay Head station although the lot is only about a fourth of the size of the lot at the next station, Point Pleasant Beach, which requires payment. This station is not listed as disabled accessible by NJ Transit. Passengers must use the train stairs to climb up to the cars or descend to street level. There is no ramp or platform to aid the handicapped in boarding. Weekend ridership to the Bay Head station rises during the summer as beachgoing vacationers take the train to the beach. In May 2011, ticket vending machines were installed next to the station building at Bay Head.

The Bay Head Historic District is a 440-acre (180 ha) historic district in the borough of Bay Head in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. This residential district located along the Atlantic Ocean was added to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) on February 1, 2006, for its significance in architecture and transportation from 1877 to 1940. It includes 549 contributing buildings, two contributing sites, and one contributing structure. Part of the district extends into Point Pleasant. In 2018, the L. Ron Hubbard Residence at Bay Head, a contributing building featuring Shingle style architecture, was listed individually on the NRHP. The All Saints Episcopal Church was built in 1889 and is the oldest church in the borough. The Bay Head Chapel was remodeled in the 1940s to feature Colonial Revival architecture. The Greenville Arms was designed by architect Wilson Eyre Jr., an innovator of the Shingle style.

Point Pleasant Beach is a train station located in Point Pleasant Beach, in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States, on NJ Transit's North Jersey Coast Line, and is one of the most significant stops on the NJCL portion between Long Branch and Bay Head. This station is located on one of the borough's major arteries, Arnold Avenue, Route 35, several blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, boardwalk, Manasquan Inlet marina, and within the community's downtown business, shopping, dining and entertainment nexus. The current building and platforms are approximately 10 years old, a consequence of the station's redevelopment yielding the modern fixtures and services. The station is handicapped-accessible.

Together with Mantoloking, Bay Head is considered part of the Jersey Shore's "Gold Coast".Bay Head was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature on June 15, 1886, from portions of Brick Township, based on the results of a referendum held three days earlier.The community was supposed to have been named "Bayhead" after the Bayhead Land Company that developed the area in the 1870s. A railroad sign posted in the 1880s labeled the station as "Bay Head," and the name stuck when the borough was incorporated in 1886. The name also comes from the town's location, which is at the "head" of Barnegat Bay.

Point Pleasant Beach lies immediately to the east of Point Pleasant borough, an entirely separate municipality within Ocean County. The borough's boardwalk is approximately one mile long, spanning the coastline from the Manasquan Inlet at the north to New Jersey Avenue in the south. The central third of the boardwalk is largely amusement rides, the Jenkinson's Aquarium, the Jenkinsons Arcades, pizza joints, ice cream parlors, games-of-chance and miniature golf courses. There are fees of up to $10 per person age 12 or over to access the various beaches, as well as parking fees of up to $2.50 per hour or more.The beach was ranked eighth-best in New Jersey in the "2008 Top 10 Beaches Contest" sponsored by the New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium.
