The Noe Valley public toilet is a planned public toilet in the San Francisco neighborhood Noe Valley. It is planned to occupy approximately 10 by 15 feet (3.0 m × 4.6 m) and to be funded by the State of California to address open defecation in the city. The responsible government agency, San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department, held a press conference in October 2020 in which the department projected its construction to cost $1.7 million. A celebration the city government had planned for the toilet was canceled due to public dissatisfaction with the price and the two year construction timeline. California State Assembly member Matt Haney, representing part of San Francisco, was one of the critics, and stated it showed the city had a "dysfunctional bureaucracy".

Under that plan, a traffic light would replace the stop signs at the intersection of Church Street and 24th Street; the platforms would be moved to the far side of the intersection in each direction, allowing trains to pass through the signal without stopping.

The stop has a pair of side platforms located south of 21st Street on a sharp curve. A shelter on the inbound platform - a stucco structure with tile roof that Muni built many of in its early years - was boarded up around 2010. In March 2014, Muni released details of the proposed implementation of their Transit Effectiveness Project (later rebranded MuniForward), which included a variety of stop changes for the J Church line. No changes were proposed to the 21st Street stop.

Right Of Way/Liberty is a light rail stop on the Muni Metro J Church line, located in the Dolores Heights neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The stop, which opened with the line on August 11, 1917, is located on a short rail-only right of way that allows the line to avoid the steep hill on Church Street to the west. The stop does not have platforms; passengers board from Liberty Street. In March 2014, Muni released details of the proposed implementation of their Transit Effectiveness Project (later rebranded MuniForward), which included a variety of stop changes for the J Church line. The stop at Liberty Street would be closed due to its proximity to the 20th Street and 21st Street stops. A more limited preliminary project announced in November 2019 will not close the stop due to the steep walk to nearby stops, but it may be closed later by the Rapid Project.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI), also called Order of Perpetual Indulgence (OPI) is a charity, protest, and street performance organization that uses drag and religious imagery to call attention to sexual intolerance and satirizes issues of gender and morality. Upon their move to San Francisco from Iowa City in 1979, a small group of gay men in San Francisco began wearing the attire of nuns in visible situations using camp to draw attention to social conflicts and problems in the Castro District. The Sisters have grown throughout the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe, and South America, and are currently organized as an international network of orders, which are mostly non-profit charity organizations that raise money for AIDS, LGBT-related causes, and mainstream community service organizations, while promoting safer sex and educating others about the harmful effects of drug use and other risky behaviors. In San Francisco alone where they continue to be the most active, between 1979 and 2007 the Sisters are credited with raising over $1 million for various causes, or almost $40,000 on average per year.Early members of the group, while not hiding their masculine features or facial hair, are characterized by San Francisco gay community historian Susan Stryker as the embodiment of "genderfuck". Their appearance has changed over the years; the nun motif remains the same, but it has been joined with exaggerated make-up that accentuates the rebellion against gender roles and religion.
