Canopus Lake

Pelton Pond is an 8 acres (3.2 ha) pond within Clarence Fahnestock State Park in northern Putnam County, in the U.S. state of New York.According to an 1849 source it is named after a local miner.

Stonecrop Gardens is a public garden in Cold Spring, New York, U.S. Formerly the home of Anne and Frank Cabot, the founder of The Garden Conservancy, the ground became a public garden in 1992, directed by Caroline Burgess. A variety of gardens include woodland and water gardens, a bamboo grove, stone beds with alpine flowers, systematic flower beds and an enclosed English flower garden.

Clarence Fahnestock Memorial State Park, also known as Fahnestock State Park, is a 14,337-acre (58.02 km2) state park located in Putnam and Dutchess counties, New York. The park has hiking trails, a beach on Canopus Lake, and fishing on four ponds and two lakes. Most of the park is situated in northern Putnam County between the Taconic State Parkway and U.S. Route 9. During the winter season, part of the park functions as the Fahnestock Winter Park. The park also includes an environmental center known as the Taconic Outdoor Education Center.

The Woo Ju Memorial Library (和如紀念圖書館) is a library in the grounds of Chuang Yen Monastery in Kent, Putnam County, New York, United States, run by the Buddhist Association of the United States (BAUS). It selects publications under the categories “Buddhism” and “Mind, Spirit, and Health” on a regular basis, so as to showcase the library collection. Loan, references, and library tour services are also provided.

The Agatha A. Durland Scout Reservation is a Scout camp owned by the Greater Hudson Valley Council. It is 1,400 acres (5.7 km2) of mostly deciduous forest containing five lakes, bordered by Clarence Fahnestock State Park to the northeast. It has about forty campsites and nine cabins.In the summer months, it is used as one of three Greater Hudson Valley Council Cub Scout camps.

Eden Village Camp is a co-ed Jewish sleep-away organic farm camp in Putnam Valley, New York. It is a non-profit sustainable-living "farm-to-table" camp founded by Yoni Stadlin and Vivian Lehrer, located on 248 acres (100 ha) touching the Appalachian Trail, 50 miles north of New York City.

Dicktown is a ghost town in Putnam County, in the U.S. state of New York.Dicktown was named for the fact that a large share of the early settlers were named Richard.

California Hill State Forest is a 982-acre (397 ha) New York State Forest in the towns of Kent and Putnam Valley in Putnam County, New York. The forest was created in 2007 when the state bought land that made contiguous three existing multiple use areas at Pudding Street, Gordon Road, and California Hill.

Lake Oscawana is a lake at the heart of Putnam Valley, New York State, United States. The 386-acre (1.6 km2) lake has a depth that ranges from 25 feet (7.6 m) to 30 feet (9.1 m) at its deepest. The lake is fed by a stream from its north end and it drains out into Oscawana Creek at the middle of its southeastern shore. It is located between two hill ranges. Oscawana Creek merges into Peekskill Hollow Creek near the intersection of Peekskill Hollow Road and Oscawana Lake Road in Putnam Valley the hamlet of Lake Peekskill. The lake has a number of houses around its edges, and a peculiar rock formation (Goose rocks) in the center of the lake, accessible most safely by kayak or canoe. Lake Oscawana provides summer recreation, and some local residents use the lake for boating, swimming, and fishing - from one of the lake's several private beaches. It features a variety of wildlife including fish, Canada geese, water snakes, turtles, and an occasional stork. In the summer it is cleaned regularly by a floating weed harvester. In the winter, the lake freezes over and allows for ice skating and ice fishing. Legend has it there are several cars at the bottom of lake from when the ice was not thick enough.Babe Ruth is known to have spent some time on the lake which housed many hotels and resorts in the 1930s. His favorite was called the Casino. Another former resident was Roy Scheider. Scheider's house, which is still owned by his former wife, was filmed in the Adirondack Lake house scene in The Sopranos episode, "Soprano Home Movies".

Tinker Hill is a summit in Putnam County, in the U.S. state of New York. It has an elevation of 935 feet (285 m).The hill was named for the fact that a jack of all trades, or a "tinkering" man, settled there ca. 1800.

Tompkins Corners is a hamlet in Putnam County, in the U.S. state of New York.

There was formerly a town of Shenandoah in Oneida County, New York.Shenandoah is a community in East Fishkill, Dutchess County, New York. It is near Interstate 84, the Taconic State Parkway, and the Appalachian Trail. The former Shenandoah Service Area on the Taconic Parkway is named for this community.
