Caieiras is a municipality in the state of São Paulo in Brazil. It is part of the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo. The population is 102,775 (2020 est.) in an area of 97.64 km². Due to the municipality's large reforestation area, it is known as the "City of the Pines". The municipality contains part of the 7,917 hectares (19,560 acres) Cantareira State Park, created in 1962, which protects a large part of the metropolitan São Paulo water supply.The municipality is served by CPTM Line 7 (Ruby).

The Serra da Cantareira is a Brazilian mountain range to the north of the city of São Paulo in the São Paulo state. The area has many walking trails, and is popular among locals. The Pico do Jaraguá, São Paulo's highest point, is located there. It was in "Serra da Cantareira" where the famous Brazilian band "Mamonas Assassinas" died in a plane crash.

Pico do Jaraguá (Jaraguá Peak) is the highest mountain in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, at 1135 metres above sea level, located at the Serra da Cantareira. Jaraguá means Lord of the Valley in Tupi.

Jaraguá State Park (English: Parque Estadual do Jaraguá) is a preservation area located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. It was created in 1961 in the Serra da Cantareira, around the Jaraguá Peak, the highest point in the municipality of São Paulo with an altitude of 1,135 meters.The park includes Afonso Sardinha's house, listed as a historical heritage site, and the place where slaves washed the gold they found in the region. There are three trails with total contact with nature. It is also possible to meet a tribe of indigenous people who still live there today.Covering an area of 492 hectares, the park is located in the northwest of the city of São Paulo, where the Tropic of Capricorn passes by. Its main attraction is the Jaraguá Peak, which in Tupi means "lord of the valley". Due to its magnificence, it is a reference point for those arriving in or leaving the capital via the Anhanguera-Bandeirantes road system.The park is considered one of the last remnants of the Atlantic Forest in the Greater São Paulo region. Due to its proximity to urban areas, this biome is among the most vulnerable on the planet. Located more precisely in the Jaraguá district, its borders are the Perus and Pirituba districts and the municipality of Osasco.

On 11 February 2019, a Bell 206B helicopter crashed while trying to land on the Rodoanel Mário Covas highway, following an unspecified malfunction. Among the victims was journalist Ricardo Boechat. The pilot, Ronaldo Quatrucci, was also killed and one person on the ground was injured. The aircraft crashed around 12:15 pm (UTC−02:00) and the journalist and pilot were pronounced dead shortly after. The helicopter was owned by RQ Serviços Aéreo Especializados Ltda.

The highest point of the municipality of São Paulo, Pico do Jaraguá, is located in this place. It's also where the roads connecting Campinas and the Central-West region of Brazil have the start point.
