The Taylor–Van Note House, also known as Blairs Ferry Wayside Inn/Vanesther Place, is a historic building located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. Charles Taylor had this two-story, wood frame, vernacular Greek Revival house built in 1846. The family owned the house until 1888 when it was sold to Lazarus Van Note, whose family owned it as late as 1985. Oral legend has it that Taylor rented the front rooms to travelers as they passed through the region. It was located close to James Blair's ferry across the Cedar River, which is why it has long been known as the Blairs Ferry Wayside Inn. The house was built of heavy timbers and exemplifies a traditional I-house. It features two rooms on both floors across its length, and one room deep. The main door is flanked by sidelights and a transom across the top. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

Seminole Valley Farmstead is a collection of historic farm buildings located in Seminole Valley Park on the west side of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. The historic designation includes the farmhouse (c. 1902–1903), summer kitchen, livestock barn, tool shed, ice house, chicken house, and smokehouse. There is also a small orchard and a garden. The complex is located near a bend in the Cedar River. The farm represents a transitional period between Iowa's austere pioneer farms and the mechanized farms that developed later in the 20th century. The nearby timber was a source of raw materials for the farm, the fertile bottomland on which it is located provided rich soil for grazing and cultivation, and the smokehouse and ice house were used to preserve agricultural products for later consumption. At the same time the barn and the chicken house were more substantial than those from earlier times. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

Marion is a city in Linn County, Iowa, United States. The population was 26,294 at the 2000 census and was 41,535 in 2020, an increase of 58%. The city is located next to Cedar Rapids and part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Hanging Bog State Preserve is a 16-acre (6.5 ha) forest that is on the edge of the Cedar River valley in Iowa. It was deeded to The Nature Conservancy in 1968, and it became a state preserve in 1981.The bog has an area that is perennially wet because when water passes through the ground, there is a layer that the water cannot get through, causing the water to surface on a hillside and also form tufa. There are terraces formed by tufa on the lower slopes of the wooded hillsides, which are the namesake of the forest.Skunk cabbage starts to bloom in the forest when there is still snow. There are over 170 species of plants in the forest, as well as 23 species of bryophytes. Spring wildflowers and ferns can be found in the forest. It also contains sugar maple, basswood, and red oak.

Kennedy High School is a public high school located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Kennedy was founded in 1967. The building was dedicated by Senator Edward M. Kennedy, younger brother of the school's namesake President John F. Kennedy. The school's athletic teams are known as the Cougars. It is a part of the Cedar Rapids Community School District. In addition to portions of Cedar Rapids, Kennedy High's boundary includes: Hiawatha, Palo, and most of Robins.

KZIA, known as "Z 102.9", is a radio station based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. It has a Top 40 (CHR) format entirely staffed with local personalities, including morning DJs Eric Hanson, Clare, and Destiny, known as “The Morning Scramble.” The station's transmitter is located in Hiawatha, Iowa, and its signal reaches most of eastern Iowa, including Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo, and the Quad Cities area. It also reaches Prairie du Chien, and Platteville, both in Wisconsin.

Hiawatha is a city in Linn County, Iowa, United States. It is a suburb located in the northwestern side of Cedar Rapids and is part of the Cedar Rapids Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 7,183 in the 2020 census, an increase from 6,480 in 2000.

The Philip A. Wolff House and Carriage House, also known as Belmont Hill, is a historic building located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. An Ohio native, Wolff lived in several states and the West Indies before settling in Maquoketa, Iowa. He moved to Cedar Rapids where he established a brickworks with his son. Wolff had this two-story vernacular Italianate house and accompanying carriage house built in 1883 with bricks made at his business, which was on the same grounds. At the time it was built, the house was located in a suburban area of Cedar Rapids. This was during a period of economic growth for the city. The house features paired brackets under the eaves, the windows have brick arches above and limestone sills, a three-sided, two-story bay, and a projecting center pavilion. The carriage house is architecturally similar to the main house. They were listed together on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Mother Mosque of America, once known as The Rose of Fraternity Lodge, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States, is the oldest standing purpose-built mosque in the United States, having been completed in 1934. The Al-Sadiq Mosque in Chicago and the Powers Street Mosque are older by a decade but were converted from existing buildings to be used as a Muslim house of worship. An older purpose-built mosque is the Highland Park Mosque, built in 1921 to serve immigrant workers in the Detroit Metro Area, which was sold in 1926. Another older purpose-built mosque was a mosque near Ross, North Dakota, which fell into ruin; a smaller mosque was built near that site to commemorate its history in 2005.

St. James United Methodist Church is located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. The congregation began as a Sunday school in the northwest part of the city organized by Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church. The evangelist Billy Sunday had preached a revival there and over 300 people joined the church. St. James Methodist Episcopal Church, as it was then known, was established shortly afterward in February 1910. The congregation originally used the closed Danish Lutheran Church at K Avenue NW and Fourth Street NW for their services, and they moved the building that summer to Ellis Boulevard NW. St. James grew to the point that a new building was needed. In 1945 property across the street was purchased, and local architect William J. Brown designed the new church facility. Construction began in September 1952 and it was completed in April 1954 for $165,000.The church building is a modern interpretation of the Gothic Revival style. The gabled-ell form structure houses the sanctuary, administrative, educational and social spaces. Brown utilized the Interdenominational Bureau of Architecture's guide Planning Church Architecture: Designs, Floor Plans and Recommendations to Help in Planning Church Buildings for Worship, Religious Education, and Fellowship Activities to Cost from $30,000.00 to $850,000.00 (1945) for the basis of his work. The exterior is composed of Tennessee quartzite stone with Bedford stone trim. T. Marion Jones built the wooden furnishings and Universal Art Glass Studios of Winona, Minnesota created the stained glass windows. The sanctuary has a seating capacity of 300, and there are 16 classrooms in the building. It received some damage in a 2008 flood that allowed the gymnasium to be returned to its original use after having been converted into office space. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.In July 2015 St. James UMC and Trinity UMC entered into a Cooperative Parish agreement. The idea was to combine their ministry efforts to better serve the community. They shared a pastor and their resources. Services were held at 9:00 AM at St. James and 10:30 AM at Trinity. A leadership council was formed to get input from both congregations. In 2016 several listening sessions were held with both congregations to find out what the congregations wanted to see of their future together. In May 2017 a vote was held at both churches regarding the merger of the two congregations into one. The vote was unanimous at both churches in favor of a merger. On Jun 4, 2017 a church conference was held, led by District Superintendent Rev. Kiboko Kiboko. At that time St. James United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist churches ceased to be, and the new congregation of Trinity-St. James United Methodist Church was formed.

The Shores-Mueller Company is a historic building located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. The original section of the building was completed in 1911. Its construction utilized the Turner Cap system, which is a concrete flat-slab support system. It features concrete floors that are more than 1 foot (0.30 m) thick and are supported by large concrete columns with concrete caps. The building housed the catalog company Shores-Mueller, which produced, packaged, and sold a variety of household and farm products from here. Two additions were built on to the original structure, the last being in 1969. The building is three-stories, constructed in brick, and lacking in ornamentation. Tom Erger, Devonna Wood, and Mike Pitzen acquired the building in 2005 and renovated it into the Shores Central Park, which hosts a variety of functions. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2020.

The Cedar Rapids Pump Company Factory and Warehouse are two historic buildings located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. The company began in 1881. They manufactured and distributed water pumps and windmills throughout the Midwest from this facility from 1884 to 1929. They completed the first floor of the factory building along the Chicago and North Western Railroad tracks in 1884. The second floor was added to the building around 1894, and in 1901 the warehouse building was completed. The Cedar Rapids Community School District used both buildings for storage from 1974 to about 2008. The buildings were affected by the 2008 flood. The two-story brick factory building features a monitor roof, and is otherwise "purely utilitarian in appearance with no particular stylistic or decorative tendency." The warehouse is also two-stories, constructed in brick, and lacking in ornamentation. The buildings were listed together on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.
