Gorzyce, Silesian Voivodeship

Gmina Gorzyce is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland, on the Czech border. Its seat is the village of Gorzyce, which lies approximately 6 kilometres (4 mi) south-west of Wodzisław Śląski and 54 km (34 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice. It is close to where the A1 motorway crosses the border into the Czech Republic to/from Poland The gmina covers an area of 64.47 square kilometres (24.9 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 21,285.

Gorzyczki [ɡɔˈʐɨt͡ʂki] is a village in Gmina Gorzyce, Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship in southern Poland. It is situated on the border with the Czech Republic, 10 kilometers south from the county seat Wodzisław Śląski. The A1 motorway, which runs from the port city of Gdańsk in the north, ends on the border in Gorzyczki, where it is connected to the Czech D1 motorway.

Uchylsko [uˈxɨlskɔ] is a village in Gmina Gorzyce, Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, near the border with the Czech Republic. It was first mentioned in a written document in 1229. It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south-west of Gorzyce, 8 km (5 mi) south-west of Wodzisław Śląski, and 56 km (35 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice. The village was first mentioned in the document of Pope Gregory IX issued on 26 May 1229 among villages belonging to Benedictine abbey in Tyniec, as Uchilsko. Benedictine abbey in Orlová (established in 1268) in the late 13th century had rights to revenues from three villages in the Castellany of Racibórz, namely Gorzyce, Uchylsko and Gołkowice.

Kolonia Fryderyk [kɔˈlɔɲa frɨˈdɛrɨk] is a village in Gmina Gorzyce, Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) north-east of Gorzyce, 5 km (3 mi) south-west of Wodzisław Śląski, and 52 km (32 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice. It was founded in 1911 as a coal mining settlement. Construction of the Friedrich - Schacht coal mine had begun in 1913 and it began operating for war purposes in 1916. It was closed in 1923.

Czyżowice [t͡ʂɨʐɔˈvit͡sɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Gorzyce, within Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland, close to the Czech border. It lies approximately 3 kilometres (2 mi) north of Gorzyce, 4 km (2 mi) south-west of Wodzisław Śląski, and 52 km (32 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice. The town fell to Nazi occupation during the 1940s as a result many children were forced to learn German at school and everyone was not permitted to speak polish, however following the defeat of Nazi forces, the troops retreated back to Germany and the people were freed.

(Polish: , German: Willmersdorf) is a village in Karviná District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It was a separate municipality but became administratively a part of Dolní Lutyně in 1975. It lies on the border with Poland, in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. The Olza River flows through the village. Part of the river with its alluvium and surroundings is a unique environment with a fragile nature balance. In an otherwise industrialized and densely populated region, it is quite special, and hence is protected.

It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) northeast of Gorzyce, 3 km (2 mi) southwest of Wodzisław Śląski, and 51 km (32 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice.

Łaziska [waˈʑiska] is a village in Gmina Godów, Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. It lies on the border with the Czech Republic. It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of Wodzisław Śląski. There is a wooden All Saints Church from 1467 in the village.

(Polish: , German: Schönichel) is a village in Karviná District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It was a separate municipality but became administratively a part of Bohumín in 1974. It has a population of 573 (2022) (together with Kopytov). The village lies in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. The village was first mentioned in a written document in 1482. The settlement of Kopytov (Polish: Kopytów, German: Kapitau) is administratively a part of Šunychl from 1920 and lies on the confluence of the Olza and Odra rivers.

Rogów [ˈrɔɡuf] is a village in Gmina Gorzyce, Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It lies approximately 5 kilometres (3 mi) north-west of Gorzyce, 8 km (5 mi) west of Wodzisław Śląski, and 55 km (34 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice.
