Laveno-Mombello Lago is a railway station in Italy. It is the end of the Saronno–Laveno railway.It serves the town of Laveno-Mombello, and is joined by a junction track to the Laveno-Mombello railway station, managed by Ferrovie dello Stato.

Laveno-Mombello is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 75 kilometres (47 mi) northwest of Milan and about 25 kilometres (16 mi) northwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 8,991 and an area of 25.9 square kilometres (10.0 sq mi). It sits at the foot of Sasso del Ferro.

Laveno-Mombello railway station (Italian: Stazione di Laveno-Mombello) is a railway station in Italy. It is junction of the lines Luino–Milan and Luino–Oleggio. It serves the town of Laveno-Mombello, and is joined by a junction track to the Laveno-Mombello Lago railway station, managed by Ferrovienord. No trains operate between the two stations, which are located less than 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) apart.

Sasso del Ferro is a mountain of Lombardy, Italy. It has an elevation of 1,062 metres above sea level. At its base sits the town of Laveno-Mombello, from which the mountain is served by a funicular cable ride to the top. The top of the mountain has a hotel and restaurant popular with tourists, along with a launch board for hang gliders to descend the mountain.

Hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso (Italian: Eremo di Santa Caterina del Sasso) is a Roman Catholic monastery located in the municipality of Leggiuno, in the Province of Varese and the region of Lombardy, Italy. It is perched on a rocky ridge on the eastern shore 16m above Lake Maggiore. The monastery can be reached on foot by descending down a long winding stairway or by taking an elevator or by a number of ferry services or boats that dock at the pier. The construction of the monastery dates from the 14th century, although the more recent frescos are from the 19th century. It consists of three buildings: the southern convent, the convent and the main church. In 1914 it was declared a national monument. You get the best view of Santa Caterina from the ferry boat on the Lago Maggiore, and the first thing you see is that the monastery consists of three chapels.

Caravate is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Varese in the Italian region Lombardy, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) northwest of Milan and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) northwest of Varese. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 2,569 and an area of 5.1 square kilometres (2.0 sq mi).The municipality of Caravate contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Stallazzo, San Clemente, Fornazze, Canton d'Oro, Canton Chiedo, Cadè, Castello, Cà Stecco, Pozzei, Monte San Giano, Santa Maria del Sasso, Virolo, and Fornace Farsani. Caravate borders the following municipalities: Besozzo, Cittiglio, Gemonio, Laveno-Mombello, Leggiuno, Sangiano.

Ghiffa (Ghifa in Lombard) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Italian region Piedmont, located about 120 kilometres (75 mi) northeast of Turin and about 7 kilometres (4 mi) northeast of Verbania on the western shore of the Lake Maggiore. It is most famous for the Sacro Monte, a site of pilgrimage and worship close to it, inserted by UNESCO in the World Heritage List.

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,345 and an area of 2.2 square kilometres (0.85 sq mi).Sangiano borders the following municipalities: Besozzo, Caravate, Laveno-Mombello, Leggiuno. In the area of Sangiano there's a limestone rock wall called "falesia del Picuz" prepared for sport climbing with fixed bolts and belays.

The San Bernardino is a torrent which flows through the Italian Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola and into Lake Maggiore at Verbania on the Piedmontese (western) shore of the lake. The origins of its name lie with the Franciscan convent of San Bernardino which was established in 1483 near the mouth of the river, between Intra and Pallanza. The buildings are no longer extant.
