Leggiuno is a town and comune in the province of Varese, Lombardy, Italy. It is the birthplace of Gigi Riva, a footballer of Cagliari and Italy. The great Italian operatic tenor Giuseppe Borgatti died there in retirement in 1950.

The Boesio is a river (intermittent stream) in Valcuvia, a valley in the north of the province of Varese, Lombardy, Italy. It rises near Cuveglio and flowing in an east–west direction before entering Lake Maggiore at Laveno-Mombello. The river's course takes it through the communes of Cuveglio, Cuvio, Casalzuigno, Azzio, Brenta, Gemonio, Cittiglio and Laveno-Mombello. The state road SS 394 follows in part the course of the river. Fish found in the river include Salmonidae and Cyprinidae, in particular brown trout and vairone (Leuciscus souffia). The waters of the river are polluted.

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,345 and an area of 2.2 square kilometres (0.85 sq mi).Sangiano borders the following municipalities: Besozzo, Caravate, Laveno-Mombello, Leggiuno. In the area of Sangiano there's a limestone rock wall called "falesia del Picuz" prepared for sport climbing with fixed bolts and belays.

As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,812 and an area of 4.1 square kilometres (1.6 sq mi).Monvalle borders the following municipalities: Besozzo, Leggiuno.

Lesa is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Novara in the Italian region of Piedmont, located about 110 kilometres (68 mi) northeast of Turin and about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Novara. The Isolino di San Giovanni is a small island belonging to the Borromean group of Lake Maggiore, one of the main subalpine lakes of northern Italy. It is situated some way to the north of the others in the group, 30 metres west of the shoreline of Pallanza, a frazione of Verbania. It is part of the frazione Pallanza. The earliest extant record of the island is from the year 999, when it was identified as Isola di Sant’Angelo, referring to a chapel dedicated to Saint Michael found within its castle. In the middle of the twelfth century the island was in the possession of counts belonging to the Barbavara di Gravellona family. The Borromeos made various attempts to obtain the Isolino di San Giovanni in the late sixteenth century with the aim of establishing a Barnabite college. They finally acquired it in 1632 and embellished it with a palazzo and gardens. Today the Borromean palazzo reflects for the most part its nineteenth-century aspect. A well-known resident during parts of the 1930s and 1940s was the conductor Arturo Toscanini.

Sasso del Ferro is a mountain of Lombardy, Italy. It has an elevation of 1,062 metres above sea level. At its base sits the town of Laveno-Mombello, from which the mountain is served by a funicular cable ride to the top. The top of the mountain has a hotel and restaurant popular with tourists, along with a launch board for hang gliders to descend the mountain.
