Godów, Silesian Voivodeship

Gmina Godów is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Godów. The gmina covers an area of 37.97 square kilometres (14.7 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 13,758.

(Polish: ) is a 31 km long river originating in Poland but flowing mostly through Karviná District, Moravian-Silesian Region, Czech Republic. It is the right tributary of the Olza River, to which it enters in Závada (part of Petrovice u Karviné). It begins in vicinity of Cieszyn (Pastwiska) and then flows north through Hażlach, Kończyce Wielkie, Kończyce Małe, Zebrzydowice, where it veers west towards Marklowice Górne, Dolní Marklovice, Petrovice u Karviné and Závada.

Szotkówka is a river of Poland, a tributary of the Olza near Godów. Its own tributaries include the Kolejówka.

The village was first mentioned in the document of Pope Gregory IX issued on 26 May 1229 among villages belonging to Benedictine abbey in Tyniec, as Golkowice. Benedictine abbey in Orlová (established in 1268) in the late 13th century had rights to revenues from three villages in the Castellany of Racibórz, namely Gorzyce, Uchylsko and Gołkowice.There is a wooden Saint Anne Church from 1878 in the village.

Łaziska [waˈʑiska] is a village in Gmina Godów, Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, southern Poland. It lies on the border with the Czech Republic. It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) south of Wodzisław Śląski. There is a wooden All Saints Church from 1467 in the village.

It was first mentioned in 1447 and was a separate municipality, but became administratively a part of Dětmarovice in years 1872–1875.
