Campanhã station (Porto Metro)

The Campanhã Railway Station (Portuguese: Estação Ferroviária de Campanhã) is a 19th-century railway station in the civil parish of Campanhã, in the municipality of Porto, district of Porto. Opened in 1877, it is connected to the Porto Metro, with local intercity and commuter service (operated by Comboios de Portugal, the Portuguese national railway operator). The railway station provides Lisbon to north access, a through-station, and not a terminus station, serving the Lisbon-to-north allowing through running of trains from Lisbon to the north of Portugal.

To the east, the next station is Campanhã. Heroísmo station has two through tracks served by two side platforms. The new station was opened on 5 June 2004 the extension of the initial line from its previous terminus at Trindade to a new terminus at Estádio do Dragão. The extension was initially served by lines A and B, with line C starting on 30 July 2005, line E on 27 May 2006, and line F on 2 January 2011.

The station is underground, adjacent to the Estádio do Dragão football stadium, from which it takes its name. It was opened in 2004, in time for that year's European Football Championship, for which the stadium hosted games. The station is a through station on line F, and acts as the eastern terminus for trains on lines A, B and E. Lines A, B, E and F run as one line within the metropolitan area to the west of Estádio do Dragão, and the next station in that direction is Campanhã. To the east on line F, the next station is Contumil. Estádio do Dragão station station is located underground, between the stadium and the main line railway tracks north out of Campanhã railway station. It has three through tracks served by two island platforms. Access is by lift or stairs via a higher level concourse. The new station was opened on 5 June 2004 as the terminus of an extension of the initial line from its previous terminus at Trindade. The extension was initially served by lines A and B, with line C starting on 30 July 2005, line E on 27 May 2006, and line F on 2 January 2011. Line C ceased to serve the station on 6 September 2010, when its eastern terminus was moved to Campanhã.

The Freixo Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte do Freixo) which was inaugurated in 1995 is a Portuguese bridge over the Douro river, connecting Vila Nova de Gaia and Porto. The purpose of its construction was to create an alternative to Arrábida and D. Luis I bridges. The designers of the bridge are António Reis and Daniel de Sousa. The bridge with total length of 705 m has 8 spans.

It has a seating capacity of 50,033, making it the third largest football stadium in Portugal. Designed by Portuguese architect Manuel Salgado, the stadium was constructed to replace Porto's former ground, the Estádio das Antas, along with becoming one of the host venues for the UEFA Euro 2004 final tournament. The inauguration took place on 16 November 2003 with a friendly match against Barcelona, setting an attendance record of 52,000 spectators.A UEFA category four stadium, it has held several international club and national team competition matches, including the 2019 UEFA Nations League Final and 2021 UEFA Champions League Final.

The Dragão Arena (formerly named Dragão Caixa for sponsorship reasons) is an indoor arena located in Porto, Portugal, that houses the basketball, handball and roller hockey teams of FC Porto. It was inaugurated on 23 April 2009 and has a capacity of 2,179 spectators. The construction project was done in partnership with Portuguese state-owned bank Caixa Geral de Depósitos, which secured the naming rights for a period of 10 years.The arena was designed by Manuel Salgado, the architect of the Estádio do Dragão. It was projected to house the club's basketball, handball and roller hockey teams under the same roof for the first time since 2001, when the previous ground – Pavilhão Americo de Sá – was demolished ahead of the stadium construction works.

The D. António Francisco dos Santos Bridge (Portuguese: Ponte D. António Francisco dos Santos Bridge) is a proposed bridge that will span the River Douro between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal. Following a meeting between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia councils, it was agreed in 2018 to build a seventh bridge over the Douro river and name it after the former bishop of Porto António Francisco dos Santos.

During the excavations for the station, the remains of the Arca de Água de Mijavelhas, a water tank and well used to provide water supply to the city, were found. The ruins, which date from the 14th to the 19th centuries, were incorporated into the station, and are displayed there with explanatory panels.
