The Ludowy Theatre (literally: People's Theatre, Polish: Teatr Ludowy) in Kraków, located at Osiedle Teatralne housing development in district Nowa Huta, opened on 3 December 1955. At that time in the Polish People's Republic, the official policy of socialist realism in art and social life came to an end and de-Stalinization was taking place, heading for its culmination in the events of Polish October. The Ludowy quickly became known as the city's prime avant-garde stage thanks to collaboration of eminent artists, including the theatre theoretician and painter Józef Szajna, Tadeusz Kantor (both from the Academy of Fine Arts), Lidia Zamkow, Krystyna Zachwatowicz, and others.

Museum of the Armed Act (Polish: Muzeum Czynu Zbrojnego) is a museum in Kraków, Poland. It was established in 1963 and by 1970 had 3000 artifacts.

The Museum of Nowa Huta is a branch of the Historical Museum of Kraków. This department was opened on 26 April 2005 by the Mayor of Kraków, Jacek Majchrowski. It contains temporary exhibitions related to the history and monuments of Nowa Huta, the youngest district of Kraków. This branch arranges lessons, lectures and organizes academic conferences related to this district. The museum is located on the ground floor in a 4-floor apartment building. The scouts' supply depot has been adapted to the needs of this branch and a modern audio-visual and exhibition room has been created.

Until 1990, the neighbouring districts were considered expansions of the original Nowa Huta district, and were linked by the same tramway system. They are now separate districts of Kraków. Nowa Huta is one of only two planned socialist realist settlements or districts ever built (the other being Magnitogorsk in Russia) and "one of the most renowned examples of deliberate social engineering" in the entire world. Built as a utopian ideal city, its street hierarchy, layout and certain grandeur of buildings often resemble Paris or London. The high abundance of parks and green areas in Nowa Huta make it the greenest corner of Kraków.

The PRL Museum (Polish: Muzeum PRL-u) is a museum in Kraków, Poland devoted to documenting the forty-year history of the communist People's Republic of Poland (PRL). It occupies the building of the old Kino Światowid ("Svetovid Cinema"), a formerly state-owned cinema in the Nowa Huta district of Kraków. The museum was established in 2008 as a division of the Warsaw Museum of Polish History. However, on November 7, 2012, the city council of Kraków decided to establish an independent museum in its place run by the city itself. Waiting for the renovation, the museum runs exhibitions in Kino Światowid ("Svetovid Cinema") and, since recently, offers guided tours through nuclear bunkers of Nowa Huta.

Łaźnia Nowa Theatre is the newest dramatic theatre in Kraków, Poland, founded in 2005. It is located in the district of Nowa Huta which was built from the ground up during the 1950s' Communist policy of Socialist realism. Appropriately, the theatre is residing in the post-industrial halls of a former technical school.Łaźnia Nowa Theatre was preceded by Łaźnia Theatre, located in Kazimierz (former Jewish district of Kraków). The theatre was originally located in a cellar which used to serve as a Jewish mikvah[1], hence the name łaźnia (public bath in Polish). After the theatre was moved to the district of Nowa Huta (literally New Steelworks), the word Nowa (New) was added to its name.

Zesławicki Lagoon (Polish: Zalew Zesławicki – two artificial reservoirs with a causeway lined with concrete slabs in the middle of them. The lagoon is an open landscape on the border of Kraków (Mistrzejowice District XV), Raciborowice (gmina Michałowice) and Batowice (gmina Zielonki) as the water intake for some osiedles of Nowa Huta. The name of the lagoon is derived from Zesławice, a former village attached to Nowa Huta and later incorporated into Kraków in the area where dams and reservoirs were built. The height above sea level of the lagoon is around 215 metres. It is bordered to the south by Gustawa Morcinka Street, to the east by Ku Raciborowicom Street, to the north by No.8 railway track, and to the west the third reservoir once planned. The lagoon is fed by River Dłubina, across which is a weir controlling the water level as it flows from the reservoirs. The lagoon was built in the 50s of 20th century. In principle it had resigned from carrying out its original function in the mid-80s of 20th century when the construction of Lake Dobczyce began.

According to the Central Statistical Office data, the district's area is 12.26 square kilometres (4.73 square miles) and 27 369 people inhabit Czyżyny.

Apollo (System Copernicus) is a stained glass window, designed by Stanisław Wyspiański for the Medical Society in Krakow, from 1904.
