Largo de São Francisco

The Church and Convent of Saint Francis was a religious institution installed in the town of São Paulo during colonial Brazil. In the 19th century, the convent was converted into a Law School. The Church of the Wounds of the Seraphic Father Saint Francis, built by the Secular Franciscan Order, is next to it.The ensemble formed by the Law School and the two churches has great historical value and is situated in Largo de São Francisco, in the Historic Center of São Paulo.

The Law School of the University of São Paulo (in Portuguese: Faculdade de Direito da Universidade São Paulo, also known as Faculdade de Direito do Largo de São Francisco) is an institution of higher education and research in the field of law located in São Paulo, Brazil. It joined the University of São Paulo (USP) in 1934, when the latter was established.

The Church of the Wounds of the Seraphic Father Saint Francis of the Venerable Third Order of Saint Francis of Penance of São Paulo (Portuguese: Igreja das Chagas do Seráfico Pai São Francisco da Venerável Ordem Terceira de São Francisco da Penitência de São Paulo), usually known as the Church of the Wounds of the Seraphic Father Saint Francis (Igreja das Chagas do Seráfico Pai São Francisco), is a colonial temple located in Largo de São Francisco, in the historic center of São Paulo, Brazil. Along with the Church of Saint Francis, it composes a very important element in the layout of the old São Paulo de Piratininga.The building, inaugurated by the Third Order of Saint Francis in 1787, is the only architectural example remaining from the 18th century in the urban core of São Paulo. For this reason, it is considered an important historical-architectural document for reading and analyzing the city during the colonial period.Like the exterior of the Church of the Third Order of Carmel, the facade of the temple was built by the Afro-Brazilian architect Joaquim Pinto de Oliveira, known as Tebas, who was born a slave in Santos.

Igreja de Santo Antônio is a church located in São Paulo, Brazil. Established in 1592, the current church was completed between 1899 and 1919.

The Patriarca Square (Portuguese: Praça do Patriarca) is located in the Sé district, in the historic center of the Brazilian city of São Paulo. The area is home to the Othon Palace Hotel and the Barão de Iguape and Sampaio Moreira buildings. The Church of Saint Anthony, which is considered to be the oldest church in the center, is in the square.

Matarazzo Building (Portuguese: Edifício Matarazzo), also known as Palácio do Anhangabaú (Anhangabaú Palace) is the city hall of the city of São Paulo, Brazil. It belonged to Banespa until 2004, when it was sold to the city government. It was designed by Italian architect Marcello Piacentini under the will of Ermelino Matarazzo, in order to host the headquarters of his industries. The building's architectural style looks like Art Deco. According to the deal made with Banespa, the building would be given to the city government as part of the debt of 885 million reais (some 466 million dollars) that the extinct CMTC had with the bank. The city would then owe 156 million reais, to be paid in four years.

Barão de Iguape Building is a skyscraper in the older area of downtown São Paulo, Brazil, 133 metres (436 ft) in height with 37 floors, located on Patriarca square on the corner of Direita and Quitanda streets. Its construction was completed in 1959.The building was for years the headquarters of a bank, Unibanco, but this was transferred to another building on the Marginal Pinheiros expressway, next to Eusébio Matoso bridge in the southwestern neighborhood of Pinheiros.

The Prestes Maia Gallery (Portuguese: Galeria Prestes Maia) is an artistic and cultural space located in the city of São Paulo that has an underground connection between Patriarca Square and Anhangabaú Valley, with an exit under the Viaduto do Chá. In 1955, the first public escalators in the city were inaugurated in the gallery's passageway.

The Archdiocese of São Paulo (Latin: Archidioecesis Sancti Pauli in Brasilia) is a Latin Metropolitan Archbishopric of the Roman Catholic Church in Brazil. The Archdiocese is currently headed by Odilo Scherer since his appointment by Pope Benedict XVI on 21 March 2007, an appointment that ended almost four decades of Franciscan leadership in the archdiocese: both predecessors, Cardinals Paulo Evaristo Arns and Cláudio Hummes, belonged to that Order. Its cathedral episcopal see, the Catedral Metropolitana Nossa Senhora da Assunção e São Paulo, in the metropolis São Paulo, was dedicated to the Assumption of Mary on September 5, 1964. The city also has three minor basilicas : Basílica de Nossa Senhora da Assunção, Basílica de Nossa Senhora do Carmo (both also Marian) and Basílica do Santíssimo Sacramento (dedicated to the Holly Sacrament).
