Oakland Harbor Light is a former lighthouse, now a restaurant in Embarcadero Cove, California.

Harborside, formerly Harborside Health Center, is a recreational and medical cannabis dispensary, with its flagship location in Oakland, California, and an additional location in San Jose. Founded in 2006 by longtime activist and entrepreneur, Steve DeAngelo and dress wedding, Harborside operates as a non-profit patient collective. In December 2011, Harborside Health Center was featured in the Discovery Channel's four-part documentary series, Weed Wars. In June 2013 CNN premiered "Inside Man", an 8-episode documentary hosted and produced by Morgan Spurlock. The show's first episode provided a detailed, inside look at California's medical marijuana industry and featured Spurlock working in Harborside Health Center, as well as it described the legal troubles of the center. It is considered to be the largest nonprofit medical cannabis dispensary in the state, if not the nation.

California Cotton Mills Company Factory is a historical building in Oakland, California Fruitvale neighborhood. The California Cotton Mills Company Factory was founded in 1883. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on January 30, 2013. California Cotton Mills Company Factory was founded by Scotsmans William Rutherford and John Yule Millar. When completed it was the largest cotton mill west of the Mississippi River. Rail freight train cars full of cotton arrived arrived at the factory. California Cotton Mills Company Factory manufactured comforters, drapery cloth, table padding, towels and mops. During World War I and World War II it has 1,500 employees made: tents, parachutes and fabric for the United States Armed Forces. The current buildings were built in 1917, replacing the older original 1883 buildings. The 1917 buildings were designed by Civil Engineer, Arthur C. Griewank. After the war on June 30, 1954, the mills closed. Some of the buildings were removed for the completion of the nearby Interstate 880. The main building of the California Cotton Mills Company Factory has been converted into the California Cotton Mills Studios, which opened in March 2006. The 138,000 Sq. foot California Cotton Mills Studios gives artist and small businesses, if they wish, the ability to live and work in a studio. California Cotton Mills Studios has in its lobby an small museum about the California Cotton Mills Company Factory.

Coast Guard Base Alameda also referred to as Coast Guard Island is an artificial island in the Oakland Estuary between Oakland and Alameda, California. It is home to several major United States Coast Guard commands and cutters, including the Coast Guard Pacific Area. It is one of the largest Coast Guard bases on the West Coast. From 1942 until 1982, the island was the site of the Coast Guard's recruiting training center (boot camp), enlisting and training hundreds of thousands of Coast Guardsmen including many of the 214,239 who served in the Pacific and European Theaters of World War II. The 67-acre (27 ha) island is situated in the historic Brooklyn Basin, now known as Embarcadero Cove. It is within Alameda city limits, but is tied to land only via a bridge from Dennison Street in Oakland.

Integrated Support Command Alameda (ISC Alameda) is a large operating base of the United States Coast Guard, located on Coast Guard Island[1] in Alameda, California Now known as Base Alameda ISC Alameda provides a wide variety of services in direct support of Coast Guard activities throughout the west coast of the United States of America. Among these are the management of approximately 1200 Coast Guard owned housing units, warehousing, health care services, work-life services, transportation of household goods, and personnel support services. Facilities maintenance is provided to all tenant commands on Coast Guard Island and industrial support is provided throughout the West Coast. ISC Alameda is home to a variety of tenant commands including: Commander, Pacific Area [2] Commander, Maintenance & Logistics Command Pacific [3] District 11 [4] Sector San Francisco [5] Training Team One Naval Engineering Support Unit Alameda Electronics Support Unit Alameda Coast Guard Island, where ISC Alameda is located, is also homeport for three National Security Cutters. The Pacific Coast Engineering Company or PACECO is an American industrial fabricator and mechanical engineering company, and was previously a shipbuilding company in Oakland, California and then Alameda, California. To support the World War II demand for ships, PACECO shipyard switched over to military construction and built US Navy Tugboats. As early as February of 1920, PACECO was reported to be bidding on a contract to make alterations or improvements to a Japanese steamer in Seattle. Started as a mechanical engineering company, PACECO began operations in its Oakland shipyard in 1922. The Oakland shipyard at the 14th Street terminus was acquired by the US. Navy in 1940 for World War II needs. PACECO moved the shipyard to 350 Blanding Avenue, Alameda. The new yard did prefab sub assemblies for the other Bay Area shipyards, like the Richmond Shipyards. In 1943, PACECO built its first of five US Navy tugboats. After the war, PACECO built tugboats, barges, and container cranes. The first quayside container gantry crane was developed by PACECO in 1959. PACECO was sold to Fruehauf Trailer Corporation in 1967. Fruehauf ended shipbuilding in 1976 and changed to build primarily container crane and container chassis. The Alameda shipyard was on the south side of the Tidal Canal, just west of the Park Street Bridge on the Oakland Estuary in the San Francisco Bay Area. As of 2021, the site was a vacant lot.

Nexus Audio Recording Studio is a recording studio located in East Oakland, California. It was established in October 2004 by Chris Paxton, who presently owns, manages, and is the head engineer. The seven-room facility offers tracking, mixing and mastering for all audio projects, including musical genres as diverse as reggae and rock. Nexus is frequently used by artists in the San Francisco Bay Area urban music scene, and recording acts have included Kreayshawn, Mistah F.A.B, Spice 1, Turf Talk, Clyde Carson and Shock G.

General Engineering & Dry Dock Company was a shipbuilding company in Alameda, California that was active from the 1920s through the 1940s. The company built ships for the Southern Pacific Railroad and the United States Coast Guard in the late 1920s and early 1930s. At the beginning of World War II, the U.S.Navy started the program for expand the navy. The U.S.Navy used two separate shipbuilding and shiprepair sites to create the Naval Industrial Reserve Shipyard (NIRS) Alameda. The first was the General Engineering and Dry Dock Company. The company worked under contract NObs-344 and built small warships for the U.S. Navy. The shipyard had four shipbuilding ways, which were designed for the simultaneous construction of several ships. During World War II General Engineering and Dry Dock Company built sixteen 1,250-ton minesweepers, eleven 850-ton minesweepers, and four 560-ton anti-submarine net layers at the Site. In 1946, the U.S. Navy ceased contract with company. The second portion of the Site was to the east of the shipbuilding company. It was purchased from March 24 to July 7, 1942.General Engineering & Dry Dock Company shipbuilding company started in Oakland, California. To support the World War II demand for ships General Engineering built: minesweepers and Net laying ships. General Engineering was opened in 1919 as Barnes & Tibbitts shipyard by J. D. Barnes and W. G. Tibbitts. Mr. Barnes sold his interest to Tibbitts in 1922 and changed the company name to General Engineering & Dry Dock Company. Tibbitts purchased Hanlon Dry Dock shipyard in Oakland in 1928. After World War II, both shipyards closed in 1948. The shipyard was located at 1805 Clement Ave, Alameda, California. The site is now the Alameda Marina and Island Yacht Club.

The Park Street Bridge is a double-leaf bascule drawbridge spanning 372 feet of the Oakland Estuary in the San Francisco Bay Area. It links the cities of Oakland and Alameda. In a year, the bridge is opened approximately 1700 times and carries approximately 40,000 vehicles per work day. It was built when the Oakland Estuary was trenched, converting Alameda from a peninsula to an island. The Park Street bridge is one of the four bridges that allow access to Alameda. It is considered the best route for bicycles to cross to Alameda as the small narrow walkway in the Posey Tube is difficult to navigate if there is another pedestrian or bicyclist also using it.According to the Historic Bridges.org, The design of this fixed trunnion bascule bridge is strikingly similar to the earliest fixed trunnion bascule bridges built in Chicago in the first decade of the 20th Century including external rack (visible at the ends of the trusses) and through truss design (with no overhead bracing at the center of the bridge), however this California example dates to 1935.

St. Joseph's Home for the Aged is a historical four story brick building in Oakland, California. The St. Joseph's Home for the Aged was built in 1912. The buildings were listed on the National Register of Historic Places on December 20, 2016. When opened in 1912, the building was the convalescent home for the elderly run by the Little Sisters of the Poor on East 14th Street. Little Sisters of the Poor closed in 1979 due to the age of the building and new safety codes. The building is built in Colonial Revival & Classical revival architecture, designed by Oscar Haupt and Robert Frost. In 1979 the building was use as St. Joseph's Professional Center, an office complex. Starting in 2010 and completed in 2012 the building was remodeled and now up to code. The remodeled was done by Bridge Housing, who converted the building to a 84 senior housing apartments, the St. Joseph's Senior Apartments with 3,200 square feet of ground floor retail space. The remodel architect was Van Meter Williams Pollack and contractor was James E. Roberts-Obayashi Corporation.

Pacific Bridge Company was a large engineering and construction company. During World War II, Pacific Bridge Company of Alameda, California was selected to build US Navy Auxiliary Repair Docks (ARD) a type of Auxiliary floating drydock and Type B ship barges.
