Silesian Beskids

Skrzyczne is a mountain in southern Poland, in the Silesian Voivodeship, close to the town of Szczyrk. It is the highest mountain of the Silesian Beskids and the fifth most topographically prominent peak in Poland.Skrzyczne is one of the peaks which make up the Crown of Polish Mountains, or a list of the highest points in each of Poland's 28 mountain ranges. The peak can be reached by hiking paths, and there is also a gondola lift which starts in Szczyrk and comes up to around 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) above sea level. The slopes of the mountain are also known for the many blueberries which grow on them and which are frequently collected by hikers and other visitors.A mountain hut, PTTK Skrzyczne, is located very close to the peak of the mountain. The first hut, built in 1933, was destroyed in a fire. A second hut was built in the late 1930s, and stands to this day. There is likewise a tall (87 metres (285 ft)) radio and television tower atop Skrzyczne, which makes it easy to recognise the peak from afar. In addition to multiple hiking trails, the Skrzyczne area also hosts a ski resort with several pistes, as well as mountain biking trails. Several trail races also cross the peak, most notably Zamieć, a 24-hour race which takes place in the winter.Legend has it that Skrzyczne takes its name from the croaking of frogs (in Polish: skrzyczenie), which supposedly inhabited the (now nonexistent) ponds near the peak.

Ostre [ˈɔstrɛ] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Lipowa, within Żywiec County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) west of Żywiec and 66 km (41 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. The village was established in the early 17th century on the slopes of Ostre mountain in Silesian Beskids, originally named Podostre.

Szczyrk [ʂt͡ʂɨrk] (German: Schirk) is a town in the Beskid Śląski mountains of southern Poland, situated in the valley of the Żylica river. It is part of the Silesian Voivodeship (since 1999), previously being part of the Bielsko-Biała Voivodeship (1975–1998). It has a population of 5,734 people (2019). The town is a popular winter sports centre, with over 60 km of ski runs served by 30 ski lifts. Poland's Winter Olympics athletes train in Szczyrk for events such as skiing and ski jumping.The two mountain ranges that surround the valley are dominated by the peaks of Skrzyczne at 1,257 metres (4,124 feet) and Klimczok 1,117 metres (3,665 feet), both of significant interest to tourists since they have commanding views from either peak. Moreover, both peaks are accessible to most people in one day's hike via the tourist routes. Skrzyczne is also accessible via a chairlift. To the west of Szczyrk is Wisła, a town where the source of the Vistula (Wisła) river can be found (around the Barania Góra mountain).

Godziszka [ɡɔˈd͡ʑiʂka] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Buczkowice, within Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south-east of Buczkowice, 14 km (9 mi) south of Bielsko-Biała, and 60 km (37 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice.

Twardorzeczka [tfardɔˈʐɛt͡ʂka] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Lipowa, within Żywiec County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 10 kilometres (6 mi) south-west of Żywiec and 67 km (42 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. It lies in Żywiec Basin alongside a Twardorzeczka stream flowing out from Silesian Beskids. There are two Tilia trees registered as natural monuments in the village. The village began as a hamlet of Radziechowy, where it belonged to until its separation in 1948. Monika Brodka, a Polish singer, grew up in the village.

Gmina Buczkowice is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Buczkowice, which lies approximately 12 kilometres (7 mi) south of Bielsko-Biała and 59 km (37 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina covers an area of 19.33 square kilometres (7.5 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 11,196.

Skocznia Skalite im. Beskidzkich Olimpijczyków (Beskid Olympians Skalite Ski Jumping Hill) is a complex of three Polish ski jumping hills located in Szczyrk – on the northern slope of the Skalite mountain (864 m), at an altitude of 620 m.It includes the K95 normal hill and smaller facilities K70 and K40. On the largest hill most often takes place FIS Cup competitions.

Gmina Lipowa is a rural gmina (administrative district) in Żywiec County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. Its seat is the village of Lipowa, which lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) west of Żywiec and 64 km (40 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. The gmina covers an area of 58.08 square kilometres (22.4 sq mi), and as of 2019 its total population is 10,803.

Lipowa [liˈpɔva] is a village in Żywiec County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It is the seat of the gmina (administrative district) called Gmina Lipowa. It lies approximately 8 kilometres (5 mi) west of Żywiec and 64 km (40 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice. It is one of the oldest villages in Żywiec Basin. It was established in the late 13th century, and soon it became a seat of a Catholic parish.

Kalna ([ˈkalna] KAL-na) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Buczkowice, within Bielsko County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland. It lies approximately 4 kilometres (2 mi) south-east of Buczkowice, 15 km (9 mi) south of Bielsko-Biała, and 61 km (38 mi) south of the regional capital Katowice.
