The Lusthaus is a historic building in Prater park in the Leopoldstadt district of Vienna, Austria. It is located at the southeastern end of Prater Avenue, near the Freudenau racecourse (German: Galopprennbahn Freudenau). First mentioned in 1560 as Casa Verde, the green summer house served as a hunting lodge in Vienna's Prater, which was then a hunting ground. It was built in 1538, at the location where Prater Avenue met the Danube Canal. The Lusthaus was on the water until 1834, when the Danube Canal was moved. After the Prater was opened to the public in 1766, the summer house was rebuilt from 1781 to 1783. It served as the location for large celebrations and festivities, such as the imperial celebrations to mark the first anniversary of the Battle of Leipzig, in which Napoleon was defeated. In the 19th century, the Lusthaus, as well as the entire Prater, was a popular meeting place for the nobility and bourgeoisie. During the First World War, the military bridge guard tasked with protecting the Danube bridge from sabotage was stationed in the summer house. In the inter-war period marked by economic instability and poverty, the composition of its patrons shifted; the Lusthaus then served as a bar with dance and music. During the Second World War, the Lusthaus was almost completely destroyed by bombings in 1944 and 1945. However, by 1948, a decision was taken to rebuild the building, and the city of Vienna earmarked a sum of 350,000 schillings for its repair. During reconstruction, the building was restored to its 18th-century shape. In October 1949, the Lusthaus was reopened. Today, the Lusthaus houses a coffeehouse and a restaurant.

The Ferry-Dusika-Hallenstadion was an indoor arena in Vienna, Austria. It was built in 1976, held 7,700 spectators and hosted indoor sporting events such as track cycling, tennis and athletics. It hosted an annual indoor track and field meeting – the Vienna Indoor Classic.It was named after Austrian cyclist Franz Dusika. The arena hosted the last cycling competition in July 2021. Afterwards the building was torn down. In its place, a new arena called "Sportarena Wien" will be built until 2023. The new indoor arena will not feature a velodrome. This was criticized by the Austrian Cycling Federation because they were not involved in the planning.

The Vienna Watersports Arena is an artificial whitewater venue for canoe and kayak slalom competition in Vienna, Austria, the only such facility in Austria. It also serves as a family water park, with guided raft trips and practice times for individual boaters. Located across the Danube from the city, on Danube Island, it pumps its water from the New Danube river channel. It opened in August 2013; the following June it hosted the 2014 European Canoe Slalom Championships.

The 2024 Vienna terrorism plot is an attempt at an act of terrorism targeting a concert of the American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift in Vienna, the capital city of Austria, backed by the Islamic State (ISIS). Three males, aged 17, 18 and 19, have been arrested for involvement in the plot. Three concerts of the Eras Tour, Swift's sixth concert tour, were scheduled to take place from 8–10 August 2024, at the Ernst-Happel-Stadion, and they have since been cancelled within the purview of the Government of Austria. Police reported that the suspects have been radicalised online and were found to be in possession of explosive chemicals, bladed articles, and al-Qaeda-related devices, planning a suicide attack-mass murder on the stadium grounds. The effort to thwart the attack involved the Austrian Federal Police, EKO Cobra, the United States Intelligence, and the Europol.

Ernst-Happel-Stadion (Ernst-Happel-Stadion ), known as Praterstadion until 1992, sometimes also called Wiener-Stadion, is a football stadium in Leopoldstadt, the 2nd district of Austria's capital Vienna. With 50,865 seats, it is the largest stadium in Austria. It was built between 1929 and 1931 for the second Workers' Olympiad to the design of German architect Otto Ernst Schweizer. The stadium was renamed in honour of Austrian footballer Ernst Happel following his death in 1992. The stadium hosted seven games in UEFA Euro 2008, including the final which saw Spain triumph over Germany. The stadium is owned by the City of Vienna (Municipal Department 51 – Sports of the City of Vienna). It is managed by the Wiener Stadthalle Betriebs und Veranstaltungsgesellschaft m.b.H., a subsidiary of Wien Holding. It is a UEFA Category 4 stadium, and as such, it is the home of the Austria national football team. It also hosts the Viennese clubs' matches in UEFA competitions. The stadium is served by Stadion station on the U2 metro line and 11A bus line.

Stadlau is a station on U2 of the Vienna U-Bahn. Despite being a U-Bahn station, it is situated above the Wien Stadlau railway station, which is served by regional trains, and by line S80 of the Vienna S-Bahn. Both stations are located in the Donaustadt District. The U-Bahn station opened in 2010.

Statistics Austria, known locally as Statistik Austria, is the official name of Austria's Federal Statistical Office (German: Bundesanstalt Statistik Österreich), the country's agency for collecting and publishing official statistics related to Austria. In 2000 a bill (federal law for statistics) transformed the Österreichisches Statistisches Zentralamt (Austrian Statistical Central Office) into the Statistik Austria. Statistik Austria is an independent, not profit-seeking institution with public rights, which has the duty to fulfill services of the Bundesstatistik (=Federal Statistics), the GDI (=Gender-related Development Index) for example is calculated by the Statistik Austria. The current director generals are Gabriela Petrovic, who handles administrative matters, and Tobias Thomas.Although Statistik Austria was validated as Austria's institution for statistics research, the organization itself was already founded in 1829 as with the name 'Statistical Bureau'. In 1840 it was renamed the Direktion der Administrativen Statistik, in 1863 again the K&K Statistische Zentralkommission; in the First Austrian Republic (German: Erste Republik Österreich) from 1921 to 1938 (German Invasion) it was named Bundesamt für Statistik and after the Second World War, from 1945 to 1999 it bore the name Österreichisches Statistisches Zentralamt.
