Denton with Wootton

Wootton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Denton with Wootton, in the Dover district of Kent, England. In 1961 the parish had a population of 164.The village is 7 miles (11 km) northwest from the channel port of Dover, and 30 miles (48 km) east-southeast from the county town of Maidstone. The major A2 London to Dover road is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the northeast. Denton, the other parish village, is 1 mile to the northwest.

Selsted is a hamlet in Kent, England. It is in the local government district of Folkestone and Hythe, and the electoral ward of North Downs East.During 2006, protests were held against a proposed closure of Selsted Church of England Promary School by Kent County Council, however, the plan was abandoned in September 2006.The village has a cricket team in Division 2 of the Kent Village League, and who were the 2007 Lords Ashford League Champions.

The A260 Barham to Folkestone road runs through the village, and the major A2 London to Dover road is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the east. Wootton, the other parish village, is 1 mile to the southeast. To the southwest of the village is the Grade II* listed Jacobean timber framed Tappington (or Tappington-Everard) Hall which dates to the 16th century. The house is where the cleric Richard Barham (1788–1845), under the pen name Thomas Ingoldsby, wrote The Ingoldsby Legends. Field Marshal Lord Kitchener was created Baron Denton, of Denton in the County of Kent, on 27 July 1914.

In the early 20th century it was the country home of Lord Kitchener of Khartoum until his death at sea in 1916. Now a country club, Broome Park is a Grade I listed building.

Lydden Hill Race Circuit (formerly known as Lydden Circuit) is a motorsport venue in Denton with Wootton, about half-way between Canterbury and Dover in Kent, England. The mile-long circuit is mainly used for Rallycross, Drift, Saloon and Sports car racing as well as Motorcycle racing. It is the shortest road racing circuit in the United Kingdom. The track was previously owned by the McLaren Group and is one of two motor racing circuits in the county of Kent, along with Brands Hatch.

Royal Air Force Swingfield or more simply RAF Swingfield is a former Royal Air Force Advanced Landing Ground located 5.5 miles (8.9 km) north west of Dover, Kent and 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south of Aylesham, Kent. The airfield was operational between February 1917 and 28 April 1945.
