Woolage Green

Woolage Village is a former mining village situated midway between Canterbury and Dover in the English county of Kent. It is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the east of the A2 road. Together with Womenswold and Woolage Green, it forms Womenswold parish. It consists of approximately 52 semi-detached houses built in 1912, to house miners and their families working at the nearby Snowdown Colliery. The village shop and post office was shut in the 1990s and converted to a dwelling.

Womenswold is a village and civil parish centred 7 miles (11 km) south-east of Canterbury, Kent, England, 1 mile to the east of the A2 road. The parish consists of three hamlets: Womenswold, Woolage Village and Woolage Green. Historically, Womenswold has been recorded with various spellings, including Wymynswold and Wimlingswold. A further one may be Wymelyngewolde Originally 'Wymelyngewolde', from the combination of the possible personal name of ‘Wimel’ and the Old English ‘ingas’ meaning the ‘people of’ and ‘wald’ as a ‘forest’. Thus Womanswold, or 'Wymelyngewolde', means the ‘forest of the people of Wimel’. The church of St, Margaret of Antioch covers all three hamlets, in Womenswold proper rather than the woodland, cereal and pasture fields within its bounds. A small mediaeval building without any side aisles, it is part of the Barham Downs group of churches.

Snowdown railway station is on the Dover branch of the Chatham Main Line in England, and serves the hamlet of Snowdown, Kent. It is 69 miles 60 chains (112.3 km) down the line from London Victoria and is situated between Aylesham and Shepherds Well. The station and all trains that call are operated by Southeastern. The station and the line it serves was built by the London, Chatham & Dover Railway, and the station was opened in 1914. It was formerly known as Snowdown & Nonington Halt and formed the junction with the extensive sidings of the National Coal Board at Snowdown Colliery. In 2016–17 and 2017–18 Snowdown was the second least used railway station in Kent. and 2022-2023 is the least used station in Kent

Lydden Hill Race Circuit (formerly known as Lydden Circuit) is a motorsport venue in Denton with Wootton, about half-way between Canterbury and Dover in Kent, England. The mile-long circuit is mainly used for Rallycross, Drift, Saloon and Sports car racing as well as Motorcycle racing. It is the shortest road racing circuit in the United Kingdom. The track was previously owned by the McLaren Group and is one of two motor racing circuits in the county of Kent, along with Brands Hatch.

Aylesham is a village and civil parish in the Dover district of Kent, England. The village is 6.5 miles (10.5 km) southeast of the cathedral city of Canterbury, and 8.5 miles (13.7 km) northwest of the town and port of Dover. According to the 2001 Census, the parish had a population including Drellingore and Snowdown of 3,884, increasing to 3,999 at the 2011 Census.The village was built in the 1920s to accommodate workers at nearby coal mines. The parish also includes the village of Snowdown. Both villages are served by railway stations on the Dover branch of the Chatham Main Line.

Aylesham railway station is on the Dover branch of the Chatham Main Line in England, and serves the village of Aylesham, Kent. It is 68 miles 66 chains (110.8 km) down the line from London Victoria and is situated between Adisham and Snowdown. The station and all trains that call are operated by Southeastern. It was built by the Southern Railway and opened on 1 July 1928 to cater for the considerable increase in passenger traffic brought about by the development of the Kent coalfield. The main station buildings are on the London-bound side of the station. The station booking office is staffed on Mondays to Saturdays mornings and a self-service ticket machine is located on the London-bound platform.

Frogham is a hamlet in the Dover District of East Kent, England, between Canterbury and Dover. It is located between the former coal mining village of Aylesham and Shepherdswell. It is near the site of the former Snowdown colliery. In published statistics, the population of the hamlet is included in the civil parish of Nonington.

Broome Park is a country house in Barham, within the City of Canterbury, Kent, England. It was built for Basil Dixwell between 1635 and 1638. In the early 20th century it was the country home of Lord Kitchener of Khartoum until his death at sea in 1916. Now a country club, Broome Park is a Grade I listed building.

Shepherds Well railway station is on the Dover branch of the Chatham Main Line in England, and serves the village of Shepherdswell, Kent. It is 71 miles 60 chains (115.5 km) down the line from London Victoria and is situated between Snowdown and Kearsney. The station and all trains that serve the station are operated by Southeastern. It appears in the timetable and online enquiry systems as "Shepherds Well" but the platform signs read "Shepherdswell". It is adjacent to the terminus of the East Kent heritage line, which is spelt as one word: Shepherdswell. The booking office in the station building on the country-bound platform is open only for very limited hours on Mondays to Fridays mornings but a Permit To Travel ticket machine (also on the country-bound platform) caters for out-of-hours ticketing. The station and the line it serves were built by the London, Chatham & Dover Railway.

Shepherdswell railway station is a station on the East Kent Railway. The southern terminus of the East Kent Light Railway, It opened on 16 October 1916 and closed to passenger traffic after the last train on 30 October 1948. Shepherdswell was the location of the engine shed and works, and many sidings. It served the village of Shepherdswell or Sibertswold. The station reopened as part of the East Kent Railway in 1993. It is about 300 metres (980 ft) from the mainline station Shepherds Well.

Shepherdswell (also Sibertswold) is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Shepherdswell with Coldred, in the Dover district of Kent, England. In 2011 it had a population of 1630.
