RAF Swingfield

Swingfield Preceptory (or St John's Commandery, Swingfield) was a priory about 5 miles north of Folkestone, Kent on the south coast of England.

Lydden Hill Race Circuit (formerly known as Lydden Circuit) is a motorsport venue in Denton with Wootton, about half-way between Canterbury and Dover in Kent, England. The mile-long circuit is mainly used for Rallycross, Drift, Saloon and Sports car racing as well as Motorcycle racing. It is the shortest road racing circuit in the United Kingdom. The track was previously owned by the McLaren Group and is one of two motor racing circuits in the county of Kent, along with Brands Hatch.

St Peter's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Swingfield, some 3 miles (5 km) northeast of Hawkinge, Kent, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.

Denton with Wootton is approximately 30 miles (48 km) east-southeast from the county town of Maidstone. The south of the parish is 6 miles (10 km) north-west from the channel port of Dover, and the north, 7 miles (11 km) south-east from Canterbury. The A260 Barham to Folkestone road runs through the parish, and a 1 mile (1.6 km) section of the major A2 London to Dover road is part of the parish at the east. Parishes surrounding Denton with Wootton are Barham at the north; Shepherdswell with Coldred at the north-east; Lydden at the south-east; Swingfield at the south; Acrise at the south-west; and Elham at the west. The Lydden Hill Race Circuit is within the eastern border of Denton with Wootton. There are two parish churches: St Martin's in Wootton, and St Mary Magdalene's in Denton. Historically Denton and Wootton contained two manors each: Denton and Tappington at Denton; Wootton and Wickham Bushes at Wootton.

In 1961 the parish had a population of 164.The village is 7 miles (11 km) northwest from the channel port of Dover, and 30 miles (48 km) east-southeast from the county town of Maidstone. The major A2 London to Dover road is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the northeast. Denton, the other parish village, is 1 mile to the northwest.

Selsted is a hamlet in Kent, England. It is in the local government district of Folkestone and Hythe, and the electoral ward of North Downs East.During 2006, protests were held against a proposed closure of Selsted Church of England Promary School by Kent County Council, however, the plan was abandoned in September 2006.The village has a cricket team in Division 2 of the Kent Village League, and who were the 2007 Lords Ashford League Champions.

Alkham, Lydden and Swingfield Woods is a 228.3-hectare (564-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Dover in Kent. Alkham Valley Woods is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I.This site is composed of several steeply sloping woods on chalk soil, together with an area of chalk grassland. The ground flora is diverse, including some unusual plants such as lady orchid in the woods and burnt orchid in the meadow.Public footpaths go through some of the woods but other areas are private land.

Sladden Wood is a 7-hectare (17-acre) nature reserve north of Alkham in Kent. It is managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust.The main trees in this wood are hornbeam, field maple and hazel, and there are ground flora such as green hellebore and yellow archangel.There is access by a footpath from Alkham.

Lydden is a civil parish and small village in the Dover district of Kent, England. The Lydden Race Circuit is located between here and Wootton to the west of the village. Lydden village consists of a triangle of 3 roads: Canterbury Road (part of the old A2 running between Dover, Canterbury and London), Stonehall and Church Lane. Lydden is set in a steep sided valley landscape, with grazing pasture and pockets of woodland along the valley side facing north west, and the extensive Lydden and Temple Ewell Downs National Nature Reserve facing south west. The NNR is famous for its chalk grassland habitat and species including the adonis blue butterfly.

The Alkham Valley is in the Kent Downs (the eastern part of the North Downs), an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in South East Kent, England. The valley lies between Folkestone and Dover. The Valley is a dry valley, typical of many others on the chalk downs.

Alkham is a village and civil parish in the Dover district of Kent, England, about five miles west of Dover. Within the parish are the settlements of Chalksole and Ewell Minnis; the parish population was 691 people (2001 census), reducing slightly to 688 at the 2011 Census.Alkham's Grade I listed Anglican church is dedicated to St Anthony. The former Wesleyan chapel on Slip Lane is now a private residence. The parishes of Alkham and River form the River ward in the Dover local government district.
