St Peter's Church, Swingfield

Swingfield is a village and civil parish in the district of Folkestone and Hythe in Kent, England. The parish includes the settlements of Densole on the A260 towards Hawkinge, and Selsted. The village is located approximately 5 miles north of Folkestone on the North Downs. Notable buildings include St Peter's Church and Swingfield Preceptory.

Swingfield Preceptory (or St John's Commandery, Swingfield) was a priory about 5 miles north of Folkestone, Kent on the south coast of England.

Royal Air Force Swingfield or more simply RAF Swingfield is a former Royal Air Force Advanced Landing Ground located 5.5 miles (8.9 km) north west of Dover, Kent and 4.5 miles (7.2 km) south of Aylesham, Kent. The airfield was operational between February 1917 and 28 April 1945.

Selsted is a hamlet in Kent, England. It is in the local government district of Folkestone and Hythe, and the electoral ward of North Downs East.During 2006, protests were held against a proposed closure of Selsted Church of England Promary School by Kent County Council, however, the plan was abandoned in September 2006.The village has a cricket team in Division 2 of the Kent Village League, and who were the 2007 Lords Ashford League Champions.

Drellingore is a village in South East Kent, England. It lies in the Alkham Valley, an area of outstanding natural beauty between Folkestone and Dover. Although the Alkham Valley is a dry valley most of the surrounding land forms a water catchment area. Water is extracted from the chalk aquifer for use in the Dover to Folkestone area of Kent. The population is included in the civil parish of Aylesham.

Denton with Wootton is a civil parish in the Dover District of Kent, England. The parish contains the settlements of Denton and Wootton, 1 mile (1.6 km) apart. Denton with Wootton is approximately 30 miles (48 km) east-southeast from the county town of Maidstone. The south of the parish is 6 miles (10 km) north-west from the channel port of Dover, and the north, 7 miles (11 km) south-east from Canterbury. The A260 Barham to Folkestone road runs through the parish, and a 1 mile (1.6 km) section of the major A2 London to Dover road is part of the parish at the east. Parishes surrounding Denton with Wootton are Barham at the north; Shepherdswell with Coldred at the north-east; Lydden at the south-east; Swingfield at the south; Acrise at the south-west; and Elham at the west. The Lydden Hill Race Circuit is within the eastern border of Denton with Wootton. There are two parish churches: St Martin's in Wootton, and St Mary Magdalene's in Denton. Historically Denton and Wootton contained two manors each: Denton and Tappington at Denton; Wootton and Wickham Bushes at Wootton.

In 1961 the parish had a population of 164.The village is 7 miles (11 km) northwest from the channel port of Dover, and 30 miles (48 km) east-southeast from the county town of Maidstone. The major A2 London to Dover road is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the northeast. Denton, the other parish village, is 1 mile to the northwest.

Lydden Hill Race Circuit (formerly known as Lydden Circuit) is a motorsport venue in Denton with Wootton, about half-way between Canterbury and Dover in Kent, England. The mile-long circuit is mainly used for Rallycross, Drift, Saloon and Sports car racing as well as Motorcycle racing. It is the shortest road racing circuit in the United Kingdom. The track was previously owned by the McLaren Group and is one of two motor racing circuits in the county of Kent, along with Brands Hatch.

Alkham is a village and civil parish in the Dover district of Kent, England, about five miles west of Dover. Within the parish are the settlements of Chalksole and Ewell Minnis; the parish population was 691 people (2001 census), reducing slightly to 688 at the 2011 Census.Alkham's Grade I listed Anglican church is dedicated to St Anthony. The former Wesleyan chapel on Slip Lane is now a private residence. The parishes of Alkham and River form the River ward in the Dover local government district.

Sladden Wood is a 7-hectare (17-acre) nature reserve north of Alkham in Kent. It is managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust.The main trees in this wood are hornbeam, field maple and hazel, and there are ground flora such as green hellebore and yellow archangel.There is access by a footpath from Alkham.

Alkham, Lydden and Swingfield Woods is a 228.3-hectare (564-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Dover in Kent. Alkham Valley Woods is a Nature Conservation Review site, Grade I.This site is composed of several steeply sloping woods on chalk soil, together with an area of chalk grassland. The ground flora is diverse, including some unusual plants such as lady orchid in the woods and burnt orchid in the meadow.Public footpaths go through some of the woods but other areas are private land.
