2018 World Cup of Golf

The 2001 WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship was a golf tournament that was played from 3–7 January 2001 at Metropolitan Golf Club in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It was the third WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship and the first of three World Golf Championships events held in 2001. Steve Stricker won his first and only World Golf Championships event at the match-play, by defeating Pierre Fulke 2&1 in the 36 hole final.

The Metropolitan Golf Club is one of the renowned sandbelt courses of Melbourne and is widely recognised as one of the finest championship courses in Australia. It is located in Oakleigh South, in the city's south-eastern suburbs, approximately twenty minutes' drive from the CBD.

Oakleigh South recorded a population of 9,851 at the 2021 census.A largely residential suburb, its boundaries are North Road to the north, South Road to the south, Warrigal Road to the west and Huntingdale/Clarinda Roads to the east. Oakleigh South Post Office opened on 1 September 1936.

Sacred Heart Girls' College (SHGC) is an independent Roman Catholic secondary school for girls from years 7 to 12 located in the Melbourne south-eastern suburb of Oakleigh, in Victoria, Australia. It was opened in 1957 by the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions (RNDM). The College houses approximately 1000 students, and continues to grow. It has a proud history of strong academic performance and provides many curricular and co-curricular activities for its students including a vibrant music program, a multitude of sporting opportunities, an Outdoor Learning Program, public speaking and debating. Jack Edwards Reserve is an Australian soccer ground in Oakleigh, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. It is the home of Oakleigh Cannons. The ground has a single main stand with seating of approx 500. The ground has a capacity of 4,000. The ground is situated at 22 Edward Street, Oakleigh and is the venue for Senior Men's, Women's and Juniors matches of the National Premier Leagues.

The Sacred Heart Girls' College building is a modern architecture building designed by Frederick Romberg that is used as an educational facility by Sacred Heart Girls' College. The building is positioned on the corner of Warrigal Road and Kangaroo Road, Oakleigh in one of Melbourne's eastern suburbs, in Victoria, Australia. Completed in 1954, this building is a fine example of the modern architectural style. The site was purchased from the Sacred Heart Parish in 1955, established the foundations of the girls' school which would open its doors to its 95 students in 1957.

Oakleigh railway station is a commuter railway station in the suburb of Oakleigh, south east of Melbourne. Victoria. The station opened in 1877 as the up end of the Gippsland line, with the station being electrified in 1922. The station consists of two island platforms which offer direct street access and are connected via a pedestrian subway. There is a station building on both platforms which functions as a ticket office, a waiting room and a toilet. The station is fully accessible as there are lifts and accessible ramps provided at the station.Oakleigh station is currently served by the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines which are both part of the Melbourne Railway Network. Additionally the station interchanges with 11 bus routes including two SmartBus services. The station is appromixately 15 kilometres (9.4 mi) away or a 23 minute train ride from Flinders Street

Oakleigh is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia 14 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Monash local government area. Oakleigh recorded a population of 8,442 at the 2021 census.Once a large independent city, Oakleigh was absorbed into Melbourne as part of the eastward expansion of the metropolis in the 1950s. As a result, it once had its own large historic Central Business District, its own municipality in the former City of Oakleigh and its own suburbs. The area is traditionally known to have a strong Greek cultural influence, largely due to the influx of said immigrants to Australia in the mid-20th century. Fourteen per cent of those living in the suburb speak only Greek at home.Although the origin of the name of the suburb, "Oakleigh," is unclear, local historians have three main theories – that it was derived from she-oaks that grew near Scotchmans Creek; from "Oakleigh Park" an estate near Malvern Hills in England; or from Mrs Oakley, an early settler.

South Oakleigh College is a Victorian state co-educational secondary college serving Oakleigh and surrounding districts within the City of Monash in south eastern Melbourne, Australia. It is located on Bakers Road, near the intersection of Centre and Warrigal Roads, in Oakleigh South.
