Kelshall is a small village in North East Hertfordshire, England. It is near the town of Royston. It has a village hall and the local church is St Faith's. Kelshall is also the name of the civil parish. Kelshall also has a major road running along one of its boundaries. In the 1880s the church was described as being "ancient, plain, and good, with a tower; and contains a few brasses and monuments".

Therfield is both a small village of approximately 4,761 acres (19 km²) and a civil parish which sits upon the chalk range, three miles southwest of Royston, and six miles (10 km) northeast of Baldock and within the English county of Hertfordshire.

Blagrove Common is a 4.0-hectare (9.9-acre) Site of Special Scientific Interest in Green End near Sandon in Hertfordshire. It is managed by the Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, and the planning authority is North Hertfordshire District Council.The site is one of the few areas of unimproved marshy grassland in east Hertfordshire. It is crossed by a stream and has a rich diversity of vegetation, including a variety of orchids. Kestrels often hunt mice and voles, which are common on the site.There is access from Beckfield Lane next to the house called Blagrove. In some areas there is treacherous deep mud.

Sandon is a village and civil parish in the North Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. Sandon is located near the towns of Baldock and Buntingford. The parish also includes the hamlets of Green End and Roe Green, and Blagrove Common, a nature reserve. At the 2011 Census the population of the civil parish was 495.Sandon has 47 listed buildings, including one of Britain's estimated 200 medieval barns, the construction of which has been dendrochronologically dated to 1266–68. All Saints Church.The Icknield Way Path passes through the village on its 110-mile (180 km) journey from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Knettishall Heath in Suffolk.

It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II* listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands at the highest point in the village to the east of Ermine Street, now the A10 road, between Royston and Buntingford.

The village is situated on the A10 road, with the market town of Royston situated 41⁄2 miles north and Buntingford 3 miles south. According to the 2011 census, the parish of Buckland, including the hamlet of Chipping has a population of 274.

Chipping is a hamlet in the civil parish of Buckland in the East Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. Situated along the A10 road (which follows the course of the Roman Ermine Street), Chipping was an early, but unsuccessful attempt to create a market town at the crossing of the River Rib by Ermine Street. Situated in a valley, Chipping lies approximately two miles (3.2 km) north of Buntingford and six miles (9.7 km) south of Royston. Chipping is situated half a mile west of the prime meridian. Prior to 1750, Chipping was referred to as New Chipping, today this name is rarely used.

Reed is a small village and civil parish in North Hertfordshire. It is situated on a chalk ridge, approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south of the market town of Royston. The Prime Meridian passes just to the east of the village, between Reed and Barkway. The modern A10 road (here following the course of the Roman Ermine Street) passes just to the west of the village. The population of the parish was 310 at the time of the 2011 census.Reed has a first school, and following a short inspection on 23 March 2017, the judgement of Ofsted was that the school continues to be ‘good’. There is also a village hall, the Saxon parish church of St. Mary, a small chapel (now closed and in private ownership), a cricket club, and a village pub and restaurant set in a 16th-century coaching inn which is currently closed pending planning applications. A converted windmill also stands in the village. There has reportedly been a settlement at Reed for 2,000 years, and the community was mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086 (as Retth). A number of houses in the village have the remnants of ancient moats, and the village includes a number of ancient woods on its outskirts. Reed was awarded protected status as a conservation area in 1974.

Broadfield is a hamlet and former civil parish, now in the parish of Cottered, in the East Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. In 1951 the parish had a population of 20.

Fox Covert is a 2.9-hectare (7.2-acre) nature reserve near Royston in North Hertfordshire. It is owned and managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.The site is a mature beech woodland that was planted in the nineteenth century. White helleborine orchids are commonly found as ground flora around the area. The reserve houses deer and various species of birds. In 1964, Fox Covert was offered as a gift by Mr. Fordham of Letchworth and became the Trust's first nature reserve.Fox Covert borders the Therfield Heath Site of Special Scientific Interest, and has the Hertfordshire Way long distance footpath passing through it.

Therfield Heath is a biological Site of Special Scientific Interest and Local Nature Reserve on the chalk escarpment just north of Therfield, Hertfordshire. Since it lies south-west of the town of Royston, it is also known locally as Royston Heath. The heath is a common on which sheep are still regularly grazed. The site offers views towards the north, over the valley of the Cam as far as Cambridge. The heath contains a long barrow, thought to be Neolithic, and several Bronze Age round barrows, all of which English Heritage classes as scheduled ancient monuments. The round barrow cemetery is the largest known example of its type in Hertfordshire. The heath was reportedly favoured by King James I as a hunting ground.The highest point of the heath is Therfield Hill. This top reaches 168 m (551 ft), the highest point for twelve miles in every direction with a relative height of about 72 m. The top is crowned by a water tower. Church Hill has many rare pasqueflowers, which flower in early spring.The Heath can be accessed from Baldock Road.
