All Saints' Church, Sandon

Sandon is a village and civil parish in the North Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. Sandon is located near the towns of Baldock and Buntingford. The parish also includes the hamlets of Green End and Roe Green, and Blagrove Common, a nature reserve. At the 2011 Census the population of the civil parish was 495.Sandon has 47 listed buildings, including one of Britain's estimated 200 medieval barns, the construction of which has been dendrochronologically dated to 1266–68. All Saints Church.The Icknield Way Path passes through the village on its 110-mile (180 km) journey from Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire to Knettishall Heath in Suffolk.

Blagrove Common is a 4.0-hectare (9.9-acre) Site of Special Scientific Interest in Green End near Sandon in Hertfordshire. It is managed by the Hertfordshire and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, and the planning authority is North Hertfordshire District Council.The site is one of the few areas of unimproved marshy grassland in east Hertfordshire. It is crossed by a stream and has a rich diversity of vegetation, including a variety of orchids. Kestrels often hunt mice and voles, which are common on the site.There is access from Beckfield Lane next to the house called Blagrove. In some areas there is treacherous deep mud.

Kelshall is a small village in North East Hertfordshire, England. It is near the town of Royston. It has a village hall and the local church is St Faith's. Kelshall is also the name of the civil parish. Kelshall also has a major road running along one of its boundaries. In the 1880s the church was described as being "ancient, plain, and good, with a tower; and contains a few brasses and monuments".

Hawkins Wood is a 10 hectare nature reserve south of Therfield in Hertfordshire. It is managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.The wood is thought to be named after a John Hawkins who is mentioned in documents dated 1676. It is divided by medieval banks and ditches into north, south and central sections. It has woods, fields and hedges, and birds include bullfinch, linnet and yellowhammer. There are also brown hares and deer.There is access from a track called Collins Green, which the Icknield Way Trail runs along.

The population of the civil parish at the 2011 Census was 150. Nearby villages include Rushden and Sandon. It shares a parish council with Rushden. The Church of St Mary is a Grade II* listed building lying at the southern end of the village. The nave, west tower and windows date from the mid-15th Century. Cottered is a village and civil parish 3 miles (4.8 km) west of Buntingford and 6 miles (9.7 km) east of Baldock in the East Hertfordshire District of Hertfordshire in England. It had a population of 634 in 2001, increasing to 659 at the 2011 Census.Cottered is home to a Japanese garden designed in the early 20th century by Herbert Goode, at the Garden House. It is listed Grade II* on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.North of Cottered, on a private drive off Throcking Road, is Broadfield House. This was rebuilt for Lady Hester Ley, daughter of the Earl of Marlborough, who married into the local Pulter family. Her daughter Margaret married John Forrester: their son James (d.1696) had Broadfield Hall extended, with stables designed by Nicholas Hawksmoor which are now Grade II listed. Among those who have held the living of Cottered may be mentioned the Rev Anthony Trollope, who was grandfather of the authors Anthony Trollope and Thomas Adolphus Trollope. He was incumbent of Cottered for forty-four years and died in 1806.Cottered also has a blue plaque to the first president of the Republic of China Sun Yat-sen, who stayed at The Kennels, country home of James Cantlie.It has a football club, Cottered FC.A Manor House built in the 1400s, said to be the "oldest inhabited house in Hertfordshire", stands in Cottered. "The Lordship" is a Grade I listed building. The summary states: "Early-mid C15 (probably for John Fray who held the manor 1428-1461...), altered in early C17 ... chimney dated 1699, later modernizations ...". According to a 2021 report in Country Life, the property was owned by Gwilym Lloyd George in the 1950s. The subsequent owners maintained the house well, but it was due for "some gentle updating".

Throcking is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Cottered, in the East Hertfordshire district, in the county of Hertfordshire, England. It is approximately 1.5 miles west-northwest of Buntingford and 7 miles east-northeast of Stevenage. In 1951 the civil parish had a population of 139. On the 1 April 1955 the civil parish was merged into Cottered. Throcking was recorded in the Domesday Book as Trochinge.

Fox Covert is a 2.9-hectare (7.2-acre) nature reserve near Royston in North Hertfordshire. It is owned and managed by the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.The site is a mature beech woodland that was planted in the nineteenth century. White helleborine orchids are commonly found as ground flora around the area. The reserve houses deer and various species of birds. In 1964, Fox Covert was offered as a gift by Mr. Fordham of Letchworth and became the Trust's first nature reserve.Fox Covert borders the Therfield Heath Site of Special Scientific Interest, and has the Hertfordshire Way long distance footpath passing through it.

Ashwell & Morden railway station is a wayside railway station in Cambridgeshire, England. Close to the border with the county of Hertfordshire, it is in the hamlet of Odsey, slightly north of the Icknield Way, a Roman Road that is now the A505. It is 41 miles (65.98 km) down the line from London King's Cross. Train services are currently operated by Thameslink.The villages it serves, as well as Odsey, are Ashwell, Guilden Morden and Steeple Morden, although it is located a couple of miles from each of them and linked to them only by minor roads.
