UAM Xochimilco

The Island of the Dolls (La Isla de las Muñecascode: spa promoted to code: es ) is a chinampa of the Laguna de Tequila located in the channels of Xochimilco, south of the center of Mexico City, Mexico. It is a popular tourist attraction due to dolls of various styles and colors being found throughout the island. They were originally placed by the former owner of the island, Julián Santana Barrera, who died from a heart attack in 2001. He believed that dolls helped to chase away the spirit of a girl who drowned years ago.

Lake Xochimilco (Spanish pronunciation: [sotʃiˈmilko]; Nahuatl languages: Xōchimīlco, pronounced [ʃoːtʃiˈmiːlko] listen ) is an ancient endorheic lake, located in the present-day Borough of Xochimilco in southern Mexico City. The lake is within the Valley of Mexico hydrological basin, in central Mexico.

Lomas Estrella is a station on Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro. The station is located between San Andrés Tomatlán and Calle 11. It was opened on 30 October 2012 as a part of the first stretch of Line 12 between Mixcoac and Tláhuac.The station is located southeast of the city center, at the intersection between Avenida Tláhuac and Paseo Galias. It is built above the ground.

Xochimilco Ecological Park and Plant Market is a natural reserve or park, with a 13-hectare (32-acre) plant market, the largest in Latin America. The park and market are located in the southern Mexico City borough of Xochimilco, about 23 km south of the historic center of the city. The park was designed by Mario Schjetnan. The park was inaugurated in 1993, on chinampas (artificial lake islands) which had been previously declared as part of a World Heritage Site. However, the area's ecology was badly degraded, and the park was established in order to revitalize and preserve the ecosystem. Success has been mixed. While much of the wetlands have been recharged, pollution and illegal settlements in the area remain as threats. As the park needs to be self-sustaining economically, there are a number of ways that the park raises money. One of the best known of these is the Xochimilco or Cuemanco Plant Market, which rents stalls to ornamental plant producers/sellers near the main entrance of the park.

Calle 11 is a station on Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro. The station is located between Lomas Estrella and Periférico Oriente. It was opened on 30 October 2012 as a part of the first stretch of Line 12 between Mixcoac and Tláhuac.The station is located southeast of the city center, at the intersection between Avenida Tláhuac and 11 Street. It is built above the ground.

San Andrés Tomatlán is a station on Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro. The station is located between Culhuacán and Lomas Estrella. It was opened on 30 October 2012 as a part of the first stretch of Line 12 between Mixcoac and Tláhuac.The station is located southeast of the city center, at the intersection between Avenida Tláhuac and Calle Luis Galvani. It is built above the ground. The station is named after the neighborhood of San Andrés Tomatlán and the icon depicts the local church of San Andrés Apostol located just to the west of the station.From 23 April to 22 June 2020, the station was temporarily closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico.

The Zoológico Los Coyotes is the third zoo in Mexico City, Mexico. It was opened on 2 February 1999 to complement the other zoos of the City of Mexico. It is built on a site that was previously a centre for seized animals, which it fell into disrepair. It mainly exhibits endemic and native fauna of Mexico including two coyotes, the species that the zoo is named after.

Periférico Oriente is a station on Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro. The station is located between Calle 11 and Tezonco. It was opened on 30 October 2012 as a part of the first stretch of Line 12 between Mixcoac and Tláhuac.The station is located southeast of the city center, at the intersection between Avenida Tlahuac and the Anillo Periférico. It is built above the ground. The symbol for the station depicts the outline of a prison guard tower, in reference to the nearby Recusorio Oriente prison.

The Mexican Secretary of the Navy (Spanish: Secretaría de Marina, SEMAR) is a member of the federal executive cabinet as well as the highest-ranking Mexican naval officer with the responsibility of commanding the Mexican Navy (including the Mexican Naval Infantry or ‘marines,’ as well as the Mexican merchant marine service ) and managing the Secretariat of the Navy (the naval ministry and naval civil service). The secretary is appointed by the President of the Republic. Organizes, administers and prepares the Navy. Exercising sovereignty in territorial seas, its air space and Mexico's coasts.

Culhuacán is a station on Line 12 of the Mexico City Metro. The station is located between Atlalilco and San Andrés Tomatlán. It was opened on 30 October 2012 as a part of the first stretch of Line 12 between Mixcoac and Tláhuac.The station is located south of the city center, at the intersection between Avenida Tlahuac and Calzada Taxqueña. It is above the ground. The station is named after the pueblo of Culhuacán, which was an important prehispanic city and is now a designated "Barrio Mágico" within the borough of Iztapalapa. The station's icon depicts the Aztec glyph for Culhuacán.

Colegio Madrid, A.C. is a private school in Col. Ex Hacienda San Juan de Dios, Tlalpan, Mexico City, serving preschool through senior high school (bachillerato). In 1941 an exile, named Marcos De La Monja, from the Spanish Civil War established the school.
