St Andrew's Church, Twyford

Twyford and Stenson is a civil parish in the South Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England. Located south of Derby on the Trent and Mersey Canal, it consists of two villages, Stenson and its smaller neighbour Twyford. Between Stenson and Derby itself lies the busy A50 dual-carriageway and Stenson Fields, a large housing estate built between the early 1970s and late 1990s. Stenson Fields is constituted as a separate parish wholly within South Derbyshire District, but it is essentially contiguous with the Sunny Hill, Sinfin and Littleover suburbs of Derby city. The parish of Stenson Fields was created in 1983 from parts of the parish of Barrow-upon-Trent and the parish of Twyford and Stenson. Originally called Sinfin Moor the name was later changed to Stenson Fields to be in keeping with the geographical and historical place name of the area. Sinfin Moor is a large tract of land to the east of Stenson Fields and Sinfin proper. Sinfin Moor is a Regionally Important Geological Site (RIGS) which formed over the bed of an ice age lake. Part of the RIGS spills over into Stenson Fields close to the hamlet of Arleston. In 2017, South Derbyshire District Council described Twyford and Stenson as an "unparished area" when it approved the transfer of a further 197 acres from it to Stenson Fields parish. In 2020, Twyford and Stenson does not appear to have a parish council. Stenson Lock is lock number 6. It is the second deepest on the canal at 12' 6". There is also a marina and a narrowboat builders. The 'Stenson Bubble', after which the local waterside pub is named, is due to the sound, and actual bubbles, the overflow stream to the south of the lock makes as it emerges forcefully into the canal below the lock through a culvert at the same level, or sometimes below, the canal surface itself. A railway line follows the line of the canal, part of a loop for freight bypassing Derby. This runs from the nearby Stenson Junction on the Derby-Birmingham line to Sheet Stores Junction at Sawley on the Midland Main Line.

The Camera's position in Derbyshire is confirmed by connections with other religious institutions in Derbyshire, and by records showing their annual rent was paid to the Bishop of Carlisle, who was Lord of the Manor of Barrow upon Trent.

Arleston is a hamlet in the South Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England, about 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the centre of Derby. It is located 1.2 miles (1.9 km) northwest of Barrow upon Trent and is part of that village's civil parish. The Trent and Mersey Canal passes through Arleston.

Foremark is a hamlet and civil parish in the South Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England. It contains Foremarke Hall, a medieval manor house which now houses Repton Preparatory School; and part of Foremark Reservoir. Foremark is near the hamlets of Ingleby, Ticknall, Milton and the village of Repton. Its postal address is Milton. It is also a few miles to the east of the town of Burton upon Trent.

Repton Prep (formally Repton Preparatory School) is a co-educational Private Preparatory School in Foremark, Derbyshire, England which caters for day and boarding pupils aged 3–13 years old. It is commonly referred to as Foremarke Hall – the name given to the stately home (country house, manor house) of the manor of Foremark which is the main building of the school. It has a close relationship with its senior school, Repton School.

Foremarke Hall is a Georgian-Palladian country house and manor house. Completed in 1762, the Hall is located at the manor (hamlet) of Foremark, near the hamlets of Ingleby, Ticknall, Milton, and the village of Repton in South Derbyshire, England. It is the current home of the Repton Preparatory School (known as Repton Prep). Before becoming the Preparatory School, Foremarke Hall was the ancestral home of the Burdett family of Bramcote. It is a Grade I listed building.The school and a Great Western Railway "Modified Hall" class steam locomotive, no. 7903, are named after this hall.

Milton is a hamlet 6 miles south-west of Derby and 1.5 miles east of Repton. Its population is around 200. It is thought to have been established by the Saxons between 500 and 550 AD. It is featured in the Domesday book as Berewite of Middletune (Hamlet of Middle Farmstead).The Swan Inn is now the only pub after the Coach House reverted to a private dwelling in 2000.Nearby are Ingleby, Bretby, Foremark Reservoir and Foremarke Hall, home to Repton Preparatory School.

Anchor Church is the name given to a series of caves in a Keuper Sandstone (Triassic conglomerate) outcrop, close to the village of Ingleby, Derbyshire, England. The caves have been extended by human intervention to form a crude dwelling place, complete with door and window holes. The sandstone outcrop once formed part of the banks of the River Trent and the caves were formed by the action of the river on the rock. The course of the river has altered and left the caves opening onto a backwater pool. It has been designated as both a Regionally Important Geological Site, and as a Local Wildlife Site.

Stenson Fields is a semi-rural suburban housing development and civil parish in the South Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England. The parish is contiguous with Sinfin, a southern area of Derby, but is outside the city boundary. Stenson Fields is located approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) south-southwest of Derby city centre. The housing in the area largely dates from the 1970s onwards. The parish was created in 1983 from parts of the neighbouring Barrow upon Trent and Twyford and Stenson parishes. Together with Twyford and Stenson, Stenson Fields is part of South Derbyshire district's Stenson electoral ward. Stenson Fields was formally in the Ticknall ward, which stretched from the Derby City boundary to the Leicestershire County line. There is one school in the parish, Stenson Fields Primary Community School, although a further two schools are planned, one primary and one secondary. There is presently one place of worship, Stenson Fields Christian Fellowship, which is an independent evangelical church. There is a parade of shops and the Stenson Fields public house on Pilgrims Way, opposite the church. Several other amenities, including an Asda supermarket, are located just outside the parish boundary at the Sinfin District Centre.

City of Derby Academy (formerly Sinfin Community School) is a mixed secondary school located in the Sinfin area of Derby in the English county of Derbyshire.Previously administered by Derby City Council, Sinfin Community School converted to academy status on 1 June 2013 and was renamed City of Derby Academy. The school is now part of QEGSMAT (Multi Academy Trust)City of Derby Academy offers GCSEs and vocational subjects as programmes of study for pupils.The school is smaller than the average-sized secondary school and has a capacity of 1050. The proportion of students whose first language is not English is nearly half, which is well above average. The proportion of students from ethnic minority backgrounds is also above half - Romany and Pakistani heritages being the largest. The building boasts excellent equipment, previously being a specialist technology school. There is also a large AstroTurf sports pitch, a large indoor sports hall, multiple tennis courts and a gymnasium.

Ingleby is a hamlet and civil parish in South Derbyshire, England, situated to the south of the River Trent on a rise between Stanton by Bridge and Repton. It is the location of Anchor Church, a small series of caves in the sandstone which were the homes of anchorites. The word Ingleby means 'Village of the English'. Nearby places include Stanton by Bridge, Ticknall and the Foremark Reservoir. Ingleby hosts the Ingleby Art Gallery, and the privately owned John Thompson public house.
