City of Derby Academy (formerly Sinfin Community School) is a mixed secondary school located in the Sinfin area of Derby in the English county of Derbyshire.Previously administered by Derby City Council, Sinfin Community School converted to academy status on 1 June 2013 and was renamed City of Derby Academy. The school is now part of QEGSMAT (Multi Academy Trust)City of Derby Academy offers GCSEs and vocational subjects as programmes of study for pupils.The school is smaller than the average-sized secondary school and has a capacity of 1050. The proportion of students whose first language is not English is nearly half, which is well above average. The proportion of students from ethnic minority backgrounds is also above half - Romany and Pakistani heritages being the largest. The building boasts excellent equipment, previously being a specialist technology school. There is also a large AstroTurf sports pitch, a large indoor sports hall, multiple tennis courts and a gymnasium.

Barrow Camera was a Knights Hospitaller foundation in the parish of Barrow upon Trent, Derbyshire, England.A Camera is: "A residence used during short visits by an official and attendants of the Knights Hospitallers for administrative purposes on their estates."Barrow Camera was in the hamlet of Arleston in the parish of Barrow upon Trent in Derbyshire, however, several historians have mistaken it for the village of Barrow in Cheshire. The Camera's position in Derbyshire is confirmed by connections with other religious institutions in Derbyshire, and by records showing their annual rent was paid to the Bishop of Carlisle, who was Lord of the Manor of Barrow upon Trent.

Arleston is a hamlet in the South Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England, about 4 miles (6.4 km) south of the centre of Derby. It is located 1.2 miles (1.9 km) northwest of Barrow upon Trent and is part of that village's civil parish. The Trent and Mersey Canal passes through Arleston.

Sunny Hill (or Sunnyhill) is a southern suburb of the city of Derby, England, situated mainly along the Stenson Road (which goes out to the hamlet of Stenson, on the Trent and Mersey Canal). It lies between the Derby City districts of Normanton and Littleover, and, to the south, Sinfin, and the parish of Stenson Fields in South Derbyshire district.

Sinfin is a suburb of Derby, England, 3 miles (4.8 km) southwest of the city centre on its southern outskirts. The ward, which includes Osmaston as well as Sinfin itself, had a population of 15,128 in 2011. Historically, Sinfin and Osmaston were separate villages before being swallowed up by the expansion of Derby. Osmaston is characterised by inter-war housing developments while much of the housing in Sinfin is post-war. Between the two suburbs lies a more industrialised area dominated by the Rolls-Royce works.

Twyford and Stenson is a civil parish in the South Derbyshire district of Derbyshire, England. Located south of Derby on the Trent and Mersey Canal, it consists of two villages, Stenson and its smaller neighbour Twyford. Between Stenson and Derby itself lies the busy A50 dual-carriageway and Stenson Fields, a large housing estate built between the early 1970s and late 1990s. Stenson Fields is constituted as a separate parish wholly within South Derbyshire District, but it is essentially contiguous with the Sunny Hill, Sinfin and Littleover suburbs of Derby city. The parish of Stenson Fields was created in 1983 from parts of the parish of Barrow-upon-Trent and the parish of Twyford and Stenson. Originally called Sinfin Moor the name was later changed to Stenson Fields to be in keeping with the geographical and historical place name of the area. Sinfin Moor is a large tract of land to the east of Stenson Fields and Sinfin proper. Sinfin Moor is a Regionally Important Geological Site (RIGS) which formed over the bed of an ice age lake. Part of the RIGS spills over into Stenson Fields close to the hamlet of Arleston. In 2017, South Derbyshire District Council described Twyford and Stenson as an "unparished area" when it approved the transfer of a further 197 acres from it to Stenson Fields parish. In 2020, Twyford and Stenson does not appear to have a parish council. Stenson Lock is lock number 6. It is the second deepest on the canal at 12' 6". There is also a marina and a narrowboat builders. The 'Stenson Bubble', after which the local waterside pub is named, is due to the sound, and actual bubbles, the overflow stream to the south of the lock makes as it emerges forcefully into the canal below the lock through a culvert at the same level, or sometimes below, the canal surface itself. A railway line follows the line of the canal, part of a loop for freight bypassing Derby. This runs from the nearby Stenson Junction on the Derby-Birmingham line to Sheet Stores Junction at Sawley on the Midland Main Line.

Derby Pride Academy is an alternative provision secondary free school that opened in September 2012. The school is a joint venture between Derby Moor Academy and Derby County Football Club as part of the Derby Pride Trust.

Derby Moor Academy, the successor school to Derby Moor Community Sports College Trust, formerly known as Derby Moor Community School, is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form situated on Moorway Lane, Littleover, Derby. It was established in January 2018 when the school converted to Academy status and joined the Spencer Academies Trust. It can also be seen as the successor to Derby School, which closed in 1989, resulting in Derby Moor opening in the same year with a new headteacher and governing body, although the buildings, pupils and most of the teaching staff were the same. The school now consists of 2 buildings the main building and the MFL (modern foreign languages) building which opened to students in late 2019. Scott Doyle is the current principal.The school has its own sixth form, established in 2013. Prior to this, the school had a joint sixth form centre, The Millennium Centre, with neighbouring school Littleover Community School, which opened in 1999. Ivy House Special School is also located on the same site but in separate buildings.

Heatherton Village (or Heatherton) is a modern residential housing development in Derby, England, located at the southern end of the older suburb of Littleover, and approximately 2.8 miles (4.5 km) south west of Derby city centre. It is an upmarket housing area comprising modern housing, several public amenity parks, shops, a school and a nursery.

St Giles’ Church, Normantion, Derby is a locally listed parish church in the Church of England in Normanton, Derby.

Normanton is an inner city suburb and ward of the city of Derby in Derbyshire, England, situated approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) south of the city centre. Neighbouring suburbs include Littleover, Pear Tree, Rose Hill and Sunny Hill. The original village of Normanton-by-Derby, which now forms the southern part of the suburb, dates back to the medieval period. As the Normanton area became rapidly urbanised in the 19th century, the New Normanton area to the north was developed for housing, linking the old village to Derby, into which it was eventually absorbed. The area is characterised by high density late 19th century terraced housing in New Normanton and mid-20th century housing estates elsewhere, and has the most ethnically diverse population in Derby. The Normanton ward had a population of 17,071 in 2011.
