Cuthbertson High School

Sandy Ridge Township, population 45,672, is one of nine townships in Union County, North Carolina. Sandy Ridge Township is 65.69 square miles (170.1 km2) in size and is located in southwestern Union County. This township contains the towns of Waxhaw, Weddington, Mineral Springs, and Stallings. The villages of Marvin and Wesley Chapel are also located here.

Weddington High School (WHS) is a public high school located east of Weddington, North Carolina (with a Matthews mailing address) as part of Union County Public Schools. As of August 2020, the school has been operating under the leadership of principal Jeff Kraftson. Weddington's important feeder schools, Weddington Elementary and Weddington Middle, are located on the same campus as the high school. Other feeder schools include Antioch Elementary, in Matthews/Indian Trail, and Wesley Chapel Elementary, in Monroe. WHS mainly serves Weddington, Wesley Chapel and the Union County portion of Matthews. It also has some students from western Monroe.

Waxhaw is a town in Union County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 20,534 according to the 2020 Census. The population grew 108.28% from 2010. The name is derived from the indigenous people who lived in the area, who were known as the Waxhaw people.

Notable buildings include the former Post Office (1905), Harris's store (c. 1920), Tyson Store (c. 1911), A.W. Heath Co. Mill (1905), R.J. Belk Company Store (c. 1894), A.W. Heath Company Stores (c. 1898), Weir Building (c. 1900), Plyler Building (c. 1907), Farmer's Ginning & Trading Company (c. 1915), McDonald Hotel (1912), Waxhaw Presbyterian Church (1929), Duncan McDonald House (c. 1888), and Ralph J. Belk House (c. 1885).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

The Pleasant Grove Camp Meeting Ground is a historic Methodist camp meeting national historic district located near Waxhaw, Union County, North Carolina. The district encompasses four contributing buildings and one contributing site. The main building is the arbor that dates to 1830. It is an 80 feet long by 60 feet wide open sided frame structure with a gable roof surround on all four sides by pent roof extensions. Located nearby are the church and former schoolhouse, now used as the preacher's dwelling, and the old cemetery.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Marvin Ridge High School (commonly Marvin, Marvin Ridge, or MRHS) is a public high school in Marvin, North Carolina, USA serving students in grades 9–12. The school is part of the Union County Public School system. The school occupies a two-story building with a full auditorium and fully air-conditioned gym. Admission is based primarily on the location of students' homes and district lines. Marvin Ridge High was ranked 1st among the 300–399 cohort size for having a 99.3 percent graduation rate in North Carolina. It is ranked the 275th best high school in the country in 2017 by U.S. News & World Report.

Sidney and Ethel Grier House is a historic home located near Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. It was built in 1916, and is one-story, three-bay, vernacular Bungalow / American Craftsman style farmhouse. The house sits on a brick pier foundation, clapboard siding, and has a hipped roof with dormer. It has a 1+1⁄2-story recent rear addition. It features a wraparound recessed porch, supported by eight tapered half-posts on tall brick piers.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

The company originated from Sea-Land Service, Inc. The domestic liner operations of Sea-Land were sold in 2003 and thereafter operated under the name Horizon Lines. Horizon became a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange in 2005. In 2015 the company was acquired by Matson Navigation Company.
