Sloley

Scottow is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is located some 2.5 miles north of Coltishall and 5 miles south of North Walsham. The villages name means 'Scots' hill-spur'.The civil parish has an area of 8.59 km2 (3.32 sq mi) and in 2001 had a population of 1,774 in 357 households, the population decreasing to 1,424 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of North Norfolk.Most of the former Royal Air Force Coltishall military airbase lay within the parish boundaries of Scottow. Today, part of the RAF base has been converted into HMP Bure, a prison for adult males, and the rest has been used to create Scottow Enterprise Park focused on helping businesses to grow through providing space in the form of offices and workshops, as well as business support.

Westwick is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk, situated to the south of North Walsham. It covers an area of 4.88 km2 (1.88 sq mi) and had a population of 53 in 29 households at the 2001 census. The population remained less than 100 at the 2011 Census and was included in the civil parish of Swanton Abbott. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of North Norfolk. The villages name means 'West specialised farm'. Westwick House was built in 1704 for John Berney and later passed (through marriage) to the Petres family. It is now owned by the Alexander family who own the entire estate. They have done so for 74 years.

Westwick Lakes is a 9.8-hectare (24-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south of North Walsham in Norfolk.Many wildfowl over-winter on these five man-made lakes, which have unusual aquatic flora. Plants on the lake margins include lesser reedmace, soft rush and sweet flag.The site is private with no public access.

The Battle of North Walsham was a medieval battle fought on 25 or 26 June 1381, near the town of North Walsham in the English county of Norfolk, in which a large group of rebellious local peasants was confronted by the heavily armed forces of Henry le Despenser, Bishop of Norwich. The battle is significant for being the last occurrence of any major resistance during the English Peasants' Revolt. Despenser succeeded in suppressing the rebellion that broke out throughout East Anglia that summer. His force at first consisted of his own retinue, but numbers swelled as aristocrats saw both his victories and the harsh retribution meted out to the rebels. He moved across East Anglia towards Norwich and then onwards to North Walsham to deal with the rebels, led by Geoffrey Litster, the so-called 'King of the Commons'. At North Walsham the rebels were decisively defeated by Despenser's men. Medieval chronicles differ in their accounts of exactly what happened at North Walsham. After the battle, Litster was captured and executed by Despenser, but the records of the time and subsequent histories disagree on the fate of his rebel army.

Royal Air Force Coltishall, more commonly known as RAF Coltishall (IATA: CLF, ICAO: EGYC), is a former Royal Air Force station located 10 miles (16 kilometres) north-north-east of Norwich, in the English county of Norfolk, East Anglia, which operated from 1939 to 2006.It was a fighter airfield in the Second World War and afterwards, a station for night fighters, then ground attack aircraft until closure. After longstanding speculation, the future of the station was sealed once the Ministry of Defence announced that the Eurofighter Typhoon, a rolling replacement aircraft, displacing the ageing SEPECAT Jaguar, would not be located there. The last of the Jaguar squadrons left on 1 April 2006, and the station finally closed, one month early and £10 million under budget, on 30 November 2006 (2006-11-30). The station motto was Aggressive in Defence. The station badge was a stone tower surmounted by a mailed fist grasping three bind-bolts (blunt arrows), which symbolised a position of strength in defence of the homeland, indicative of the aggressive spirit which Coltishall fighter aircraft were prepared to shoot down the enemy.

Swanton Abbott is a village and civil parish in the district of North Norfolk. It has an area of 4.76 square kilometres (1.84 sq mi) and a population of 565 at the 2011 Census (including Westwick). The village lies 4 miles (6.4 km) south of North Walsham, 15 miles (24 km) south of the seaside town of Cromer and 13.5 miles (21.7 km) north by road from the centre of the city of Norwich, Norfolk's administrative centre. The villages name means 'Herdsmen's farm/settlement'. The village was granted to the Abbot of St. Benet Holme by King Cnut.

North Walsham railway station (formerly known as North Walsham Main) is on the Bittern Line in Norfolk, England, serving the town of North Walsham. It is 16 miles (26 km) down the line from Norwich, between Worstead to the south and Gunton to the north. Train services are operated by Greater Anglia.

North Walsham High School is a co-educational secondary school located in North Walsham in the English county of Norfolk. On the same site there is the shared-use Atrium Arts Centre.

North Walsham Town railway station was a station in North Walsham, Norfolk. It served the now closed Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway lines to Melton Constable via Aylsham, Melton Constable via Mundesley and Sheringham, and Great Yarmouth via Potter Heigham. It was closed in 1959 when the rest of the line was shut by British Railways, as it was considered unprofitable. There was another station in the town, on the Great Eastern Railway network historically known as 'North Walsham Main' but now simply known as North Walsham railway station.

His Majesty's Prison Bure, more commonly known as HM Prison Bure, and often abbreviated to HMP Bure, is a Category C men's prison, located in the parish of Scottow in Norfolk, England. The prison is operated by His Majesty's Prison Service, and became operational in November 2009.

Coltishall railway station serves the village of Coltishall in Norfolk, and is currently operated by the Bure Valley Railway.
