The Red River (Cornish: Dowr Koner) is a small river in north-west Cornwall, United Kingdom which issues into St Ives Bay at Godrevy on Cornwall's Atlantic coast. The Red River is about 8 miles (13 km) long and was given its name from the mineral deposits associated with tin mining, particularly oxides of Iron, which formerly coloured its water red. The river's gradient is relatively steep; the stream falls 170 metres (560 ft) from source to sea.

Gwithian (Cornish: Godhyan) is a coastal village in west Cornwall, England. It is three miles (5 km) north-east of Hayle and four miles (6.5 km) east of St Ives, Cornwall across St Ives Bay. Gwithian is in the civil parish of Gwinear-Gwithian (where the 2011 census population was included ). Gwithian has a pub, the Red River Inn, which was formerly named the Pendarves Arms. The pub takes its name from the nearby Red River which, in turn, got its name from the discolouration caused by mining effluent. The river's earlier name was Dowr Coner.

Gwinear–Gwithian (Cornish: Sen Gwynnyer–Sen Goedhyan) is a coastal civil parish in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It includes the villages of Connor Downs, Gwinear, Gwithian, Reawla and Rosewarne. The parish is situated approximately two miles (3 km) east of Hayle two miles (3 km) west of Camborne.For the purposes of local government Gwinear–Gwithian has a parish council and elects councillors every four years. The principal local authority is Cornwall Council. The population of the parish was 3032 in the 2001 census. This included Fraddam and increased to 3,261 at the 2011 census. An electoral ward also exists with St. Erth added to the name. The population here in 2011 was 4,642.

Godrevy (Cornish: Godrevi, meaning small farms) ( gə-DREE-vee) is an area on the eastern side of St Ives Bay, west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, which faces the Atlantic Ocean. It is popular with both the surfing community and walkers. It is part owned by the National Trust, and offshore on Godrevy Island is a lighthouse maintained by Trinity House which is said to be the inspiration for Virginia Woolf's novel To the Lighthouse. Godrevy lies within the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and the South West Coast Path runs around the whole promontory. There are several public car parks on the western side where the National Trust owns and operates a café.

Godrevy Lighthouse was built in 1858–1859 on Godrevy Island in St Ives Bay, Cornwall. Standing approximately 300 metres (980 ft) off Godrevy Head, it marks the Stones reef, which has been a hazard to shipping for centuries.

Towan (from Cornish: Tewyn, meaning "sand dune") is found in many placenames in Cornwall (Porthtowan for example). However, The Towans usually refers to the three-mile (5 km) stretch of coastal dunes which extends north-east from the estuary of the River Hayle (at 50.19256°N 5.43111°W / 50.19256; -5.43111) to Gwithian beach (at 50.22991°N 5.39145°W / 50.22991; -5.39145) with a midpoint near Upton (at 50.21053°N 5.40768°W / 50.21053; -5.40768). The South West Coast Path crosses the towans.

Connor Downs (Cornish: Goongoner) is a village in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, in the civil parish of Gwinear-Gwithian. It is situated approximately two miles (3 km) east of Hayle and about two miles south-southeast of Gwithian churchtown. The name "Connor" was originally the name of Connerton, the medieval manor of the parish of Gwithian. The village straddles the old course of the A30 road but has now been bypassed and the new road passes to the north. Facilities include a school (Connor Downs Primary School),a spar petrol station, a pub, a Sunday school and a garage.

Loggans Moor is a nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, noted for its biological characteristics, in west Cornwall, England, UK. It is located 1 mile north-east of the town of Hayle, off the A30 road.The 11-hectare (27-acre) nature reserve is owned by Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

Hell's Mouth (Cornish: Ganow Yfarn) is situated northeast of Gwithian on the South West Coast Path in the county of Cornwall, England, UK. The land is owned by the National Trust. It is part of a group of cliff faces in the area, with a café not far from the edge. In 2011 a jogger on the Cornish Coastal Path noticed cracks in the rock, which is made up of mudstones and sandstones of the Porthtowan Formation and slates/siltstones of the Mylor Slate Formation from the Devonian. The route of the path was diverted as the cracks enlarged. On 23 September approximately 100,000 tonnes (110,000 tons) of rock fell into the sea. Unusually the rockfall was captured on video.

Nancemellin is a hamlet in the parish of Gwinear-Gwithian, Cornwall, England.

Angarrack (Cornish: An Garrek) is a village in west Cornwall, England, UK. It is in the parish of Gwinear-Gwithian a mile to the east of Hayle. Immediately south of the village Angarrack viaduct carries the Cornish mainline railway over the Angarrack River. The name comes from An Garrek which means "The Rock" in the Cornish language. According to the Ordnance Survey the spelling is Angarrack but on signs near the village, it is variously spelled Angarrack, Angharrack, or Angarrick.
