Wheal Alfred is the site of a former copper and lead mine and a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in west Cornwall, England, UK. The mine is located 1 mile (1.6 km) east of the town of Hayle and is also a Geological Conservation Review site. The mine is famous to geologists for its important mineral specimens such as mimetite and pyromorphite.

Loggans Moor is a nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest, noted for its biological characteristics, in west Cornwall, England, UK. It is located 1 mile north-east of the town of Hayle, off the A30 road.The 11-hectare (27-acre) nature reserve is owned by Cornwall Wildlife Trust.

Connor Downs (Cornish: Goongoner) is a village in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, in the civil parish of Gwinear-Gwithian. It is situated approximately two miles (3 km) east of Hayle and about two miles south-southeast of Gwithian churchtown. The name "Connor" was originally the name of Connerton, the medieval manor of the parish of Gwithian. The village straddles the old course of the A30 road but has now been bypassed and the new road passes to the north. Facilities include a school (Connor Downs Primary School),a spar petrol station, a pub, a Sunday school and a garage.

Gwinear (Cornish: Gwynnyer) is a small village in west Cornwall, England, UK. It is about two miles (3 km) east of Hayle and overlooks the Angarrack valley. It is in the civil parish of Gwinear-Gwithian. Gwinear village sits on a hill with expansive views from the northern end of the village down the Angarrack valley. There is a local pub, the Royal Standard, and a community hall. Gwinear is the church town of Gwinear-Gwithian civil parish.

Gwinear–Gwithian (Cornish: Sen Gwynnyer–Sen Goedhyan) is a coastal civil parish in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It includes the villages of Connor Downs, Gwinear, Gwithian, Reawla and Rosewarne. The parish is situated approximately two miles (3 km) east of Hayle two miles (3 km) west of Camborne.For the purposes of local government Gwinear–Gwithian has a parish council and elects councillors every four years. The principal local authority is Cornwall Council. The population of the parish was 3032 in the 2001 census. This included Fraddam and increased to 3,261 at the 2011 census. An electoral ward also exists with St. Erth added to the name. The population here in 2011 was 4,642.

Hayle Academy (formerly Hayle Community School) is a coeducational secondary school located in Hayle in the English county of Cornwall.Previously a community school administered by Cornwall Council, in November 2017 Hayle Community School converted to academy status and was renamed Hayle Academy. The school is now sponsored by the Truro & Penwith Academy Trust. Hayle Academy offers GCSEs and BTECs as programmes of study for students.

Phillack (Cornish: Eglosheyl) is a village (and formerly a parish) in west Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. It is about one mile (1.6 km) northeast of Hayle and half-a-mile (0.8 km) inland from St Ives Bay on Cornwall's Atlantic ocean coast. The village is separated from the sea by a range of high sand dunes known as The Towans. Phillack has been in the civil parish of Hayle since 1935; before that it was a separate parish in its own right. Phillack parish was originally in Redruth Registration District but the village now comes under Camborne-Redruth Registration District. There is some dispute over the origins of the name. In the 17th century, Phillack was believed to refer to the Irish Saint Felicitas who is said to have founded Phillack church in the 6th century. However, a 10th-century Vatican codex mentions a Saint Felec of Cornwall who is believed to have lived about the same time and may be dedicatee of the parish church

Towan (from Cornish: Tewyn, meaning "sand dune") is found in many placenames in Cornwall (Porthtowan for example). However, The Towans usually refers to the three-mile (5 km) stretch of coastal dunes which extends north-east from the estuary of the River Hayle (at 50.19256°N 5.43111°W / 50.19256; -5.43111) to Gwithian beach (at 50.22991°N 5.39145°W / 50.22991; -5.39145) with a midpoint near Upton (at 50.21053°N 5.40768°W / 50.21053; -5.40768). The South West Coast Path crosses the towans.

Gwithian (Cornish: Godhyan) is a coastal village in west Cornwall, England. It is three miles (5 km) north-east of Hayle and four miles (6.5 km) east of St Ives, Cornwall across St Ives Bay. Gwithian is in the civil parish of Gwinear-Gwithian (where the 2011 census population was included ). Gwithian has a pub, the Red River Inn, which was formerly named the Pendarves Arms. The pub takes its name from the nearby Red River which, in turn, got its name from the discolouration caused by mining effluent. The river's earlier name was Dowr Coner.
