Preesall

The Black Bull, formerly known as the Black Bull Inn and Black Bull Hotel, is a public house in Preesall, Lancashire, England. Dating to 1762, it stands on Park Lane.The inn's first licensee was John Bamber, who ran it between 1776 and 1789. Between 1853 and 1892, the role was filled by John Parkinson. In 1872, during Parkinson's tenure, a "syndicate of men" from Barrow-in-Furness stayed at the inn during their search for iron ore in the area. None was to be found, but they did discover a bed of rock salt, from which they took a sample. Upon returning to the inn, Parkinson's 17-year-old daughter, Dorothy, processed the sample by dissolving, filtering and boiling it, thus creating the very first example of Preesall salt. In 1902, Preesall Salt Works was built to the north of the village's salt marshes, on the eastern banks of the River Wyre. Dorothy married another John Parkinson and spent her life as a farmer's wife at Hackensall Hall Farm, where she raised nine children. She died in 1925.The current licensee took over in late 2022, succeeding Anthony Gills.

Preesall railway station served Preesall in Lancashire, England, from 1908 to 1930, although goods continued until 1950.

Saint Aidan's Church of England High School (formerly Saint Aidan's Church of England Technology College) is a Church of England voluntary aided school located in Preesall, England. In an Ofsted report in 2013, the school was rated Grade 2 (Good) overall and Grade 1 (Outstanding) for Behaviour and Safety. They are well known within the local community, and are notable as having above-average GCSE results and an outstanding approach to health and safety. St Aidan's are responsible for the schooling of Barney Harwood, a well-known CBBC presenter. The school is very charitable and friendly hosting many events to raise money for charities. A new gymnasium has been added to the school, costing 2.5 million. The sports hall opened to the students in September.

St Oswald's Church is an Anglican church in Preesall, a town on the Fylde coastal plain in Lancashire, England. It is an active parish church in the diocese of Blackburn and the archdeaconry of Lancaster. It was built 1896–1898, designed by Hubert Austin, and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade II listed building.

Knott End-on-Sea is a village in Lancashire, England, on the southern side of Morecambe Bay, across the Wyre estuary from Fleetwood. Knott End has a pub, the Bourne Arms, county library and golf club. Buses run regularly from Knott End and there is also a three-minute ferry crossing to Fleetwood. Knott End also has two clubs, The Squash and Knott End Working Men's Club.

Stalmine is a village in the civil parish of Stalmine-with-Staynall, in the Wyre borough of Lancashire, England, in a part of the Fylde known as Over Wyre. The village is located on a small hill on the A588, the main road between Hambleton and Lancaster, with the highest level 75 ft above sea level. The village name has been spelled Stalmin (in 1205) and Stalemynne (in 1278). The village had a population of 1,087 at the 2011 Census.

Stalmine-with-Staynall is a civil parish within the Wyre borough of Lancashire, England, in a part of the Fylde known as Over Wyre. The parish contains the village of Stalmine and the hamlets of Staynall and Wardley. The civil parish had a population of 1,486 at the 2011 Census, of which 1,087 lived in Stalmine village.Located close to the Irish Sea coast, the Wyre Estuary forms the parish's western boundary. The highest point is only approximately 75 feet (23 m) above sea level. The parish adjoins the Wyre parishes of Fleetwood, Preesall, Pilling, Out Rawcliffe, Hambleton and the Thornton area which is unparished.

Town End Farmhouse is an historic building in the English parish of Stalmine-with-Staynall, Lancashire. It was built in 1694. A farmhouse, it is in brick with a thatched roof covered in corrugated asbestos. It has one-and-a-half storeys and two bays. The windows have plain reveals; some of them are sashes, others are modern. Above the doorway is an inscribed plaque, and inside the house is an encased bressumer.

Hackensall Hall, also known as Hackensall Hall Farmhouse, is an historic building on Whinny Lane in Preesall, Lancashire, England. It is Grade II listed, built in 1873.A remodelling of a 17th-century house, it retains much of its earlier fabric. It is in pebbledashed brick with sandstone dressings and a slate roof, and has two storeys with attics. The house has an irregular plan with rear wings and outshuts. Most of the windows are mullioned and transomed, or mullioned. Other features include a single-storey gabled porch, a doorway with a moulded surround and a Tudor arched head, and a re-set inscribed plaque. Inside the house is an inglenook.Francis Fleetwood, brother of Richard, built Hackensall Hall in 1656 after their home at Rossall Hall was flooded. Nearby Parrox Hall was built about the same time, and has been in the possession of the Elletson family since 1690.

The River Wyre in Lancashire, England, flows into the Irish Sea at Fleetwood. It is 28 miles (45 km) long and has a sheltered estuary which penetrates deep into the Fylde peninsula.

Hillylaid Pool is a water channel running through the Fylde and Wyre areas of Lancashire in England. It is 4.55 miles (7.32 km) long, and it is part of the Fleetwood Peninsula Tributary catchment area.Hillylaid Pool joins the River Wyre at Stanah, shortly after merging with another watercourse to the northwest of Flint's Caravan Park.It has the ability to be pumped at high tide by a pumping station on River Road, beside the entrance to Wyre Estuary Country Park.It was the subject of Wyre River Trust's Hillylaid Pool Wetland Project in 2018. The wetlands were created on the banks of the Wyre at Stanah in 2020, a combined effort of The Rivers Trust and Wyre Rivers Trust.
