Osiedle Witosa is a district of Katowice. It has an area of 3.49 km2 and in 2007 had 12,401 inhabitants.The Witosa estate (the Wincenty Witos estate) - a housing estate and an auxiliary unit of Katowice, located in the north-western part of the city, in the complex of northern districts, between Załęska, Załęska Hałda-Brynów and the western part and the city of Chorzów, in the historic commune of Załęże. The beginnings of settlement in the area of ​​the auxiliary unit are associated with the establishment of two colonies of Załęże, built in the 18th century: Obroków and Załęska Hałda. The very housing estate named after W. Witosa was built in a colony of Finnish houses in the 1970s and 1980s. Currently, the district is mainly residential and commercial. The Witosa estate is very well connected thanks to the A4 motorway running next to the estate, as well as the international railway line E 30. The district has an area of 3.49 km² (2.11% of the city's area) and in 2007 had 12,401 inhabitants (3.9% of the population)

Osiedle Tysiąclecia (Millennial District) is a district of Katowice and one of the largest districts in Poland. It is located in the northern part of Katowice, on the land once occupied by the villages of Bederowiec, Sośnina and east Klimzowiec. The construction of the district began in 1961 during the times of the People's Republic of Poland. The name was chosen as 1961 was a 1000th anniversary of the founding of Poland. It has an area of 1.88 km2 and in 2007 had 23,501 inhabitants.The district is bordered by the town of Chorzów on the west, on the east by ul. Bracka (Bracka street), on the south by the Rawa and Załęże district and on the north by Silesian Park (Park Śląski). The district is formed by several dozens of high apartment buildings of up to several dozen meters each. The largest of those are the "Kukurydze" (the Corn on a Cob) of 82 metres height (24 floors), which makes them the second tallest apartment buildings in Poland.

Załęże (German: Zalenze) is a district of Katowice, located in the north-western part of the city, in the central part of the Upper Silesian conurbation, on the Rawa river. It runs along Gliwicka street characteristic tortuous course of the city center to the border of Chorzów. It is one of the oldest districts of Katowice, which dates back to the thirteenth century. By the end of the eighteenth century the community was an agricultural character, when it began to develop coal mining, iron and zinc industry, which enabled rapid population growth. In 1924 Załęże became a district of Katowice. After the collapse of the major industrial plants in the early twenty-first century Załęże became the center of a residential and service. At the end of 2007, the district had 11 569 inhabitants. The most valuable objects in Załęże are neo-Gothic Saint Joseph's Church and the Palace in Załęże, the remains of a former farm. Załęże is very well connected by the A4 motorway and Drogowa Trasa Średnicowa runs through Załęże, as well as the international E 30 railway line and tram line .

Katowice Załęże is a railway station in Katowice, located in the Załęże district in southern Poland. The stop, situated on the international E 30 railway line, was built in 1957, with scheduled train services beginning in 1966. Regional trains operated by Koleje Śląskie, traveling towards Częstochowa, Katowice, Lubliniec, and Gliwice, stop at this station.

The Pacification of Wujek was a strike-breaking action by the Polish police and army at the Wujek Coal Mine in Katowice, Poland, culminating in the massacre of nine striking miners on December 16, 1981. It was part of a large-scale action aimed to break the Solidarity free trade union after the introduction of martial law in Poland in 1981. Although the strike was suppressed, in a longer term, it turned out to be a milestone towards the collapse of the authoritarian system in Poland and, ultimately, to the collapse of the Eastern Bloc. It was a site of numerous protests, including by Solidarity activist Anna Walentynowicz who commemorated a plaque to the murdered miners shortly after she left prison at Gołdap.

Wujek Coal Mine (Polish: Kopalnia Wujek, full name in Polish: Kopalnia Węgla Kamiennego Wujek; German: Oheim) is a coal mine in Katowice, Poland. It is widely known in Poland as the place of the massacre of striking miners in 1981 (most often referred to by the euphemism 'Pacification'). Mining operations began in the vicinity as early as the 16th century. The present mine, Oheim, was established in 1899 by a merger of six mining operations existing in Silesia (then a part of Germany). The peak Polish production was in 1979 (3.88 million tons that year). Currently, the Wujek mine produces sub-bituminous coal with a typical energy content of 30000-35000 kJ/kg, volatile content of 30-31%, ash content of less than 5%, and sulfur content of less than 0.6%. The name "Wujek" means "Uncle" in Polish.

Siemianowice Śląskie also known as Siemianowice (Polish pronunciation: [ɕɛmjanɔˈvit͡sɛ ˈɕlɔ̃skʲɛ]; German: Siemianowitz-Laurahütte; Silesian: Siymianowice) is a city in Upper Silesia in southern Poland, near Katowice, in its central district in the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union - a metropolis with a population of 2 million people and is located in the Silesian Highlands, on the Brynica river (tributary of the Vistula). It is situated in the Silesian Voivodeship since its formation in 1999, previously in Katowice Voivodeship, and before then in the Autonomous Silesian Voivodeship. Siemianowice is one of the cities of the 2.7 million conurbation, the Katowice urban area, at the heart of the greater Silesian metropolitan area populated by about 5,294,000 people. The population of the city is 65,684 (2021). Siemianowice Śląskie borders four cities: Piekary Śląskie, Chorzów, Czeladź and the voivodeship capital Katowice.

Legendia (a.k.a. Silesian Amusement Park, Polish: Śląskie Wesołe Miasteczko) is a permanent amusement park located within Silesian Park in the center of the Upper Silesian Metropolitan Union, Silesia, Poland. It has an area of 26 ha. In 2008, the park saw 253,000 visitors. It is one of the largest permanent amusement parks in Poland. In 2015, the Slovakian company Tatry Mountain Resorts acquired Silesian Amusement Park. They renamed the park "Legendia" and modified many of its existing attractions. The park is now themed to "Legends". On July 1, 2017, "Lech Coaster" opened as the largest roller coaster in Central-Eastern Europe.

Lech Coaster is a steel roller coaster located at Legendia in Chorzów, Poland. It was the first Bermuda Blitz coaster by Dutch manufacturer Vekoma and opened on July 1, 2017. The ride stands 40 metres (130 ft) tall, has a maximum speed of 95 kilometres per hour (59 mph), and has a track length of 908 metres (2,979 ft). The ride also features three inversions.

The Stadion Śląski (English: Silesian Stadium) is a sport stadium located on the premises of Silesian Park in Chorzów, Poland. The stadium has a fully covered capacity of 55,211, after a recent refurbishment completed in October 2017. The stadium hosted many Poland national football team matches and for many decades was Poland's national stadium. After the National Stadium in Warsaw had been completed, the Silesian Stadium lost that role. The stadium was not in operation between 2009 and 2017 due to its ongoing reconstruction. Silesian Stadium is a UEFA Category 4 stadium and hosts the annual Kamila Skolimowska Memorial, a Diamond League meeting. The stadium will also host the athletics events of the 2023 European Games and the 2028 European Athletics Championships.

Brynów is a district in Katowice, Poland. It is located in the central part of Katowice, south-west of the immediate center, and is divided into two subdistricts: Brynów - Osiedle Zgrzebnioka is the eastern subdistrict with 7,200 inhabitants (in 2002) Brynów - Załęska Hałda is the western subdistrict with 16,800 inhabitants (in 2002)Brynów (German: Brynow) borders the following districts of Katowice: Załęże, Osiedle Paderewskiego - Muchowiec, Śródmieście, Ligota - Panewniki, Piotrowice - Ochojec. Kościuszko Park, the largest park in the city Church of St. Michael Archangel, located in Kościuszko park, is the oldest building in Katowice (from 1510) Parachute tower, the only one in Poland, place of a battle during the Invasion of PolandHistory of Brynów, as a village, goes back to the 15th century. Brynów has its own train station. There are several major roads and a tram line. There are several schools, five churches and three supermarkets in Brynów. A small civilian airport is nearby.

Baildon Steelworks (Polish: Huta Baildon) was a major steelworks in Katowice, Poland. It was located in Katowice districts of Załęże and Dąb. Founded in 1823 (then in Prussian Silesia), it was a major local employer and a landmark until its liquidation in 2001. It was named after Scottish engineer John Baildon. It sponsored a major sports club, KS Baildon Katowice.
