Špansko is a neighbourhood in the western part of Zagreb. It has about 24,000 inhabitants. It belongs to Stenjevec district. Špansko is divided into two parts (two independent local councils) – Špansko-sjever (Špansko North) and Špansko-jug (Špansko South) – by Antun Šoljan Street. On 20 December 2024, a mass stabbing occurred at Prečko Elementary School in Zagreb, Croatia. The attacker, identified as a 19-year-old male, stabbed seven individuals, resulting in the death of a 7-year-old student. Six others, five students and a teacher, also sustained injuries.

Sky Office Tower is a dual business tower, elliptically shaped, located in Zagreb, Croatia, north of the Zagrebačka Avenue, near the intersection with Zagrebačka cesta. The office tower was completed in 2012. It is one of the few high-rise construction projects in Zagreb that persisted throughout the economic crisis in 2010.The tower has 22 floors above ground and four underground floors. In 2007, the whole project was estimated to cost 76 million euros.The tower was originally planned to have a total of 26 floors, three of them underground. After the construction started, a change of plan to 29 above-ground floors was announced. This would have made the tower 108 meters high, matching Zagreb Cathedral, the tallest building in the city. The construction was halted for 6 months in 2009 due to funding problems caused by the ongoing global financial crisis. Eventually, the number of floors above ground was reduced to 22.It has a total of 706 parking spaces – 659 in the garage and 47 in the outdoor space. Access to the underground garages is provided via two entry-exit ramps, which are heated against freezing. Underground levels with parking and storage areas are directly linked to the office spaces.

Ljubljanska Avenue is one of the most travelled thoroughfares in Zagreb, Croatia. It is a four-lane divided avenue that runs from the Savska Opatovina rotary (located in the western part of the Trešnjevka - sjever district) in the east to the Jankomir interchange with the Zagreb bypass in the west. The road uses the recently upgraded Jankomir bridge over the Sava river and it is fully grade-separated. The Ljubljanska used to start further east, at the intersection with the Savska Road in the outer city center, but the recently renovated part between Savska Road and Savska Opatovina was renamed to Zagrebačka Avenue.

The area covered by the local city council Vrbani has around 10,093 inhabitants.The borders of Vrbani are Horvaćanska Street on the south with Jarun, Hrvatski Sokol Street with Staglišće on the east, Zagrebačka Avenue with Rudeš on the north and Petrovaradinska Street on the west with Prečko. Vrbani, in the wider sense, also includes the newly built buildings between lake Jarun and Horvaćanska Street.

Jarun Bridge (Croatian: Jarunski most) is a planned bridge that will cross the Sava River in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia. The bridge will be located in the western part of the city, Trešnjevka near Lake Jarun. The city of Zagreb organized a tender for the design of the Jarun Bridge in 2006, and accepted the project in 2007. Building permits were issued in 2011, but the construction, originally estimated to cost around €40 million, did not start due to a lack of funds. As of 2013, the city was considering a pedestrian-and-cycle design as a cheaper alternative. In early 2020, the process of acquiring the building permits was reinitiated.
