Carrog

Carrog railway station in Denbighshire, Wales, was formerly a station on the Ruabon to Barmouth line. A camping coach was positioned here by the Western Region from 1956 to 1962. It was to have closed to passengers on Monday 18 January 1965 but closed prematurely on 14 December 1964 due to flood damage. According to the Official Handbook of Stations the following classes of traffic were being handled at this station in 1956: G, P, F, L, H, C but there was no crane.It was reopened in 1996 as part of the preserved Llangollen Railway. It is a passing place on the single line and has a signal box. On re-opening it became the terminus of the preserved line but became an intermediate station with the completion of the extension to Corwen East, in October 2014. Due to engineering works relating to the reopening of Corwen, Carrog again became the terminus of the line in 2019. It regained its intermediate status once again in June 2023 when the new Corwen station opened.

Moel Fferna is a mountain in Denbighshire, Wales and forms part of the Berwyn range. It is the most northern outpost of the range. The summit is covered in deep heather and has a shelter cairn. A trig point was used to mark the summit, but has since been destroyed. To the south is Pen Bwlch Llandrillo, followed by Cadair Bronwen. It is the highest peak in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The Deeside and Moelfferna quarries were neighbouring slate quarries, near Glyndyfrdwy in North Wales. They were both operated by the same company throughout their history, and were both connected by the Deeside Tramway to the Llangollen and Corwen Railway.

The Deeside Tramway was a gravity and horse-worked, 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge industrial railway connecting the slate workings on the Dee valley with the main road at Glyndyfrdwy and later the Great Western Railway's Ruabon-Dolgellau railway. It was one of the last tramways in regular use to use wooden rails covered in iron sheaths.

Bryneglwys is a village and community in Denbighshire, Wales. The village lies to the northeast of Corwen on a hill above a small river, Afon Morwynion, and is situated in the ancient commote of Iâl (Yale). The community covers an area of 9.45 square miles (24.5 km2) and extends to the top of Llantysilio Mountain. It had a population of 369 at the time of the 2011 census, an increase from 344 during the 2001 census.The 2011 census showed 36.0% of the population could speak Welsh, a fall from 50.3% in 2001. The name of the village means "church hill" in English and was first recorded in 1284 with the spelling "Breneglus".A 'community portal' website with village news, views and local information can be found at bryneglwys.co.uk. The village church is dedicated to Saint Tysilio, a Welsh Prince and Bishop, son Brochwel Ysgithrog, a King of Powys of the House of Gwertherion. There has been a church on the site since the early 7th century, but the current building dates from the 15th century and was restored around 1570 and again in 1875.The nearest primary school is Ysgol Dyffryn Iâl in the village of Llandegla. It is a bilingual school under the control of the Church in Wales.The 16th-century historian David Powel came from the village.

Llanelidan is a small village and community in the county of Denbighshire in north-east Wales. The community also includes the hamlet of Rhyd-y-Meudwy. The church, village hall and pub all lie within 200 yards of each other overlooking the village cricket ground and pavilion. Also in the village centre is King George's field, this is land legally protected by the Fields in Trust Charity, and is free for use by anyone. Public space in the village includes the Village Green. This is 3 1/2 acres of registered Village Green Denbighshire Commons Register No. VG12 Ancient and semi natural woodland that is a bluebell wood in the spring. It was allotted to be held IN TRUST for the Community of Llanelidan by the Inclosure Awards of 1861 and is for the enjoyment and recreation of members of the Parish. It lies north west of the village along a footpath towards Coed Pen Y Bryn. Gwyddelwern is a small village and community of 508 residents, reducing to 500 at the 2011 census, situated approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) north of Corwen in Denbighshire in Wales. Historically the village was part of the Edeyrnion district of Meirionnydd. Edeyrnion was part of the Glyndŵr district of Clwyd from 1974 to 1996, when the area became part of the principal area of Denbighshire. The village straddles the A494 road (trunk road).

St Elidan's Church is a Grade II*-listed building in the community of Llanelidan in Denbighshire, Wales.

Gwyddelwern railway station was a station in Gwyddelwern, Denbighshire, Wales. The station was opened on 1 March 1863, closed to passengers on 2 February 1953 and closed completely on 2 December 1957. Nothing remains of the station today and the site is occupied by a sawmill.
