The Deeside and Moelfferna quarries were neighbouring slate quarries, near Glyndyfrdwy in North Wales. They were both operated by the same company throughout their history, and were both connected by the Deeside Tramway to the Llangollen and Corwen Railway.

Glyndyfrdwy (Welsh pronunciation: [ɡlɨnˈdəvrdʊɨ]), or sometimes Glyn Dyfrdwy, is a village in the modern county of Denbighshire, Wales. It is situated on the A5 road halfway between Corwen and Llangollen in the Dee Valley (the river Dee is Afon Dyfrdwy in Welsh).

The Deeside Tramway was a gravity and horse-worked, 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge industrial railway connecting the slate workings on the Dee valley with the main road at Glyndyfrdwy and later the Great Western Railway's Ruabon-Dolgellau railway. It was one of the last tramways in regular use to use wooden rails covered in iron sheaths.

Glyndyfrdwy railway station (pronounced [ɡlɨnˈdəvrdʊɨ], Glin-duvver-doo-ee) is a former station on the Ruabon to Barmouth line near the village of Glyndyfrdwy in Denbighshire, Wales. It is now a preserved railway station on the Llangollen Railway, being reopened by the heritage railway in 1993.

Moel Fferna is a mountain in Denbighshire, Wales and forms part of the Berwyn range. It is the most northern outpost of the range. The summit is covered in deep heather and has a shelter cairn. A trig point was used to mark the summit, but has since been destroyed. To the south is Pen Bwlch Llandrillo, followed by Cadair Bronwen. It is the highest peak in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Carrog railway station in Denbighshire, Wales, was formerly a station on the Ruabon to Barmouth line. A camping coach was positioned here by the Western Region from 1956 to 1962. It was to have closed to passengers on Monday 18 January 1965 but closed prematurely on 14 December 1964 due to flood damage. According to the Official Handbook of Stations the following classes of traffic were being handled at this station in 1956: G, P, F, L, H, C but there was no crane.It was reopened in 1996 as part of the preserved Llangollen Railway. It is a passing place on the single line and has a signal box. On re-opening it became the terminus of the preserved line but became an intermediate station with the completion of the extension to Corwen East, in October 2014. Due to engineering works relating to the reopening of Corwen, Carrog again became the terminus of the line in 2019. It regained its intermediate status once again in June 2023 when the new Corwen station opened.

Ceiriog Ucha, also spelled as Ceiriog Uchaf (meaning "Upper Ceiriog"), is a community in Wrexham County Borough, Wales. The community lies in the Ceiriog Valley and comprises the villages of Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog and Tregeiriog as well as surrounding farmland and grouse and pheasant moors. It is a rural district set in low hills. The area is governed by Ceiriog Uchaf Community Council, and had a total population of 346, in 129 households, at the 2001 census. reducing to 317 in 2011.

Carrog is a village in Denbighshire, Wales, near Corwen. Formerly referred to as Llansanffraid-Glyn Dyfrdwy, as it lies within the parish of Llansanffraid Glyndyfrdwy, it takes its modern name from the Great Western Railway station on the opposite bank of the River Dee, which in turn took its name (possibly to avoid confusion with the adjacent Glyn Dyfrdwy station and that in Llansanffraid Glan Conwy) from the Carrog estate on that bank. It is in the community of Corwen. Carrog railway station is part of the Llangollen Railway and is a passing place on the line, now the extension to Corwen past the site of Bonwm has been opened. One notable resident of Carrog is Peredur Lynch who graduated from Bangor University to become a literary historian. Carrog has one primary school, Ysgol Carrog, which is over 100 years old.

Bryneglwys is a village and community in Denbighshire, Wales. The village lies to the northeast of Corwen on a hill above a small river, Afon Morwynion, and is situated in the ancient commote of Iâl (Yale). The community covers an area of 9.45 square miles (24.5 km2) and extends to the top of Llantysilio Mountain. It had a population of 369 at the time of the 2011 census, an increase from 344 during the 2001 census.The 2011 census showed 36.0% of the population could speak Welsh, a fall from 50.3% in 2001. The name of the village means "church hill" in English and was first recorded in 1284 with the spelling "Breneglus".A 'community portal' website with village news, views and local information can be found at bryneglwys.co.uk. The village church is dedicated to Saint Tysilio, a Welsh Prince and Bishop, son Brochwel Ysgithrog, a King of Powys of the House of Gwertherion. There has been a church on the site since the early 7th century, but the current building dates from the 15th century and was restored around 1570 and again in 1875.The nearest primary school is Ysgol Dyffryn Iâl in the village of Llandegla. It is a bilingual school under the control of the Church in Wales.The 16th-century historian David Powel came from the village.

Moel y Gaer (Welsh for "bald hill of the fortress") is an Iron Age hillfort on a summit of Llantysilio Mountain, northwest of the town of Llangollen, Denbighshire, Wales. The site is a scheduled monument classified as a prehistoric defensive hillfort.The hillfort is also protected and managed as part of the Heather and Hillforts Project. The project includes six hillforts: the four most southerly of the hillforts in the Clwydian Range (Penycloddiau, Moel Arthur, Moel y Gaer Llanbedr, and Moel Fenlli), this hillfort and Caer Drewyn.

The Cambrian quarry was a slate quarry, located to the west of Glyn Ceiriog in Denbighshire, North Wales. There was some small-scale extraction of slate from the 17th century, but commercial extraction began in 1857, and the scale of operation increased from 1873, when the Glyn Valley Tramway opened, providing an easier route to market for the output of the quarry. Production after 1938 was on a reduced scale, and the quarry closed in the winter of 1946/47, mainly due to a lack of workers.

Both Llantysilio Mountain and Maesyrchen Mountain re-direct here.Moel y Gamelin is a hill in Denbighshire, North Wales, to the northwest of the town of Llangollen. It is the highest summit of a range which stretches eastwards from near the village of Carrog to the Horseshoe Pass (Welsh: Bwlch yr Oernant) traversed by the A542 road, and reaches an elevation of 577 metres (1,893 ft) above sea level. The western part of the range is known as Llantysilio Mountain whilst the eastern end is referred to as Maesyrchen Mountain. At its top is a round cairn, of unknown date, measuring about 30 metres (100 ft) in diameter and 1.8 metres (6 ft) high. It is in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
