Middle Drove railway station

Tilney St Lawrence is a village and a civil parish in the English county of Norfolk The village is 52.3 miles (84.2 km) west of Norwich, 9.7 miles (15.6 km) south-south-west of King's Lynn and 104 miles (167 km) north of London. The nearest town is Wisbech which is 8.3 miles (13.4 km) west-south-west of the village. The village lies to the south of the route of the A47 between Peterborough and Kings Lynn. The parish of Tilney St Lawrence in the 2001 census had a population of 1,465, increasing to 1,576 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk.

Smeeth Road was a railway station serving the villages of Emneth Hungate, Marshland St James and St John Fen's End, all east of Wisbech in Norfolk, England. The station was opened in 1848 as an extension of the East Anglian Railway's line from Magdalen Road station (now known as Watlington) to Wisbech East. The station's location, like that of the neighbouring Middle Drove station, was fairly rural and the line eventually closed in 1968, Smeeth Road's station building survived closure, and has since been converted into a private residence. The old 'Signal Box' which sat adjacent to the station remained intact until it was dismantled in 2005 and replaced with a 3 bedroom 'Eco' home. The new Signal Box retains some original features and designs of the old one with a traditional/modern look. The old platform to the station which is largely intact marks the boundary line between both the station and the signal box. The old goods shed which sat behind the station was converted into 6 flats (St James Court). This also retains some of the original features including part of the original platform.

Terrington St John is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. The village lies to the south of the route of the A47 between Peterborough and Kings Lynn. It covers an area of 8.26 km2 (3.19 sq mi) and had a population of 882 in 336 households at the 2001 census, the population slightly increasing to 891 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The Church of St John is a Grade I listed building.

Marshland St James is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 25.69 km2 (9.92 sq mi) and had a population of 1,137 in 456 households at the 2001 census, increasing to 1,209 at the 2011 Census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Churches Marshland St James had multiple churches which are Anglican and Methodist. The parish church is St James in the deanery of Lynn Marshland, in the archdeaconry of Wisbech. The original Church of England church was St Jame. It was founded in 1837 and closed in 2002. The church did not have a graveyard. The church does not have a graveyard. Marshland Fen Methodist Church was founded before 1907. The Primitive Methodist church was an early 19th century (1807) secession from the Wesleyan Methodist church and was particularly successful in evangelising agricultural and industrial communities at open meetings. In 1932 the Primitive Methodists joined with the Wesleyan Methodists and the United Methodists to form the Methodist Church of Great Britain. Historical geography Marshland St James is about 11 miles S.W. of King's Lynn. It was created as an ecclesiastical parish in 1922, and as a civil parish in 1935, from parts of Clenchwarton, Emneth, Terrington St Clement, Terrington St John, Tilney All Saints, Tilney St Lawrence, Tilney cum Islington, Walpole St Andrew, Walpole St Peter, and West Walton. Marshland Rural District was a rural district in Norfolk, England from 1894 to 1974.It was formed under the Local Government Act 1894 based on the Marshland rural sanitary district, and was named after the Freebridge Marshland hundred. It covered an area to the west of King's Lynn on the borders of Lincolnshire and the Isle of Ely. In 1930 a new parish of Nordelph was created in Downham RD, taking land mostly out of the Marshland RD parishes of Upwell and Outwell.During the period 1933-1935 it absorbed most of the area of the disbanded Walsoken Urban District, with other minor boundary changes.In 1974, the district was abolished under the Local Government Act 1972, and became part of the West Norfolk district.

Emneth Hungate is a small settlement near the village of Emneth in Norfolk, England, near the border with Cambridgeshire. It once had its own Emneth railway station on the now-closed line between Watlington and Wisbech.

Walpole Highway is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It covers an area of 10.48 km2 (4.05 sq mi) and had a population of 685 in 266 households at the 2001 census, the population increasing to 701 at the 2011 census. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. The village lies to the south of the route of the A47 between Peterborough and King's Lynn.

Islington Heronry is a 1.3-hectare (3.2-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest south-west of King's Lynn Norfolk.This stand of mature oaks has the largest breeding colony of grey herons in the county, with about eighty nests occupied each year. There are several other populations of woodland birds, such as the great spotted woodpecker.The site is private land with no public access.

Magdalen Gate railway station was located on the line between Middle Drove and Watlington. It served the parish of Wiggenhall St Mary Magdalen, and closed in 1866. Nothing remains of the station.

Barroway Drove is a village in the parish of Stow Bardolph in Norfolk, England. For the purposes of local government, it falls within the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk. Barroway Drove was referred to as Bardolph Fen. The village lies on the eastern edge of The Fens and is notable for its lack of amenities and poor quality roads. Barroway Drove Village Hall is the central hub of the community. It is the venue of the weekly parent and toddler group called Little Gems, and also takes on the role of polling station on election days. In 2007, Stephen Fry filmed a number of scenes for his popular ITV television series Kingdom in the village.

St Mary the Virgin's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the civil parish of Wiggenhall St Germans, Norfolk, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands at the end of a lane to the north of the village of Wiggenhall St Mary the Virgin, some 5 miles (8 km) south of King's Lynn. It is notable particularly for the quality of carving of its wooden fittings.

The Priory of St Mary de Bello Loco, commonly referred to as Molycourt Priory, was a small Benedictine priory located in the parish of Outwell, Norfolk, England.Little is known of its history; its foundation appears to predate the Norman Conquest. Never a rich priory, as a result of a great storm and repeated floods its lands in Wiggenhall, Outwell, Upwell and Downham Market would only provide a living for a single monk. By 1446, Henry VI licensed its appropriation by the prior of Ely and it became a cell of Ely Priory.At the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539 when the monastery of Ely was dissolved it appears to have consisted of two monks, possibly older monks from Ely living in the house. It was valued at £6 14s. 11d. No trace of the buildings exist, the site now being a farm. Some human remains were discovered in 1974 but a test pit dug in 1998 appears to have found no trace of the location of the priory building.
