Poperinge

Reningelst is a rural village in the Belgian province of West Flanders, and a "deelgemeente" of the municipality Poperinge. The village has about 1405 inhabitants. The deelgemeente of De Klijte used to be a part of Reningelst (then independent, now part of Heuvelland). De Klijte split from Reningelst in 1976 and is now part of the Heuvelland municipality.

Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) burial ground for the dead of the First World War in the Ypres Salient on the Western Front. After Tyne Cot, it is the second largest cemetery for Commonwealth forces in Belgium. Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery is located near Poperinge in the province of West Flanders. Most of those buried in the cemetery are war casualties who had been wounded near Ypres and later died in the four large Allied casualty clearing stations located in this area.

Westvleteren (Dutch: Brouwerij Westvleteren) is a brewery founded in 1838 at the Trappist Abbey of Saint Sixtus in Vleteren, Belgium. The brewery's three beers have acquired an international reputation for taste and quality; Westvleteren 12 is considered by some to be the best beer in the world. The beers are not brewed to commercial demands but are sold in small quantities weekly from the doors of the monastery itself, to individual buyers on an advance-order basis.

Red Farm Military Cemetery is a British military cemetery with fallen from the First World War, located in the Belgian village of Vlamertinge (Ypres). The cemetery is located about 2.9 km west of the village center, in the hamlet of Brandhoek. It was designed by Arthur Hutton and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. With an area of only 172 m2, it is one of the smallest British cemeteries. The site is enclosed by a brick wall and is accessible via a grass path of 25 m. The Cross of Sacrifice is close to the entrance on the southern side. 49 dead are commemorated.

St. Sixtus' Abbey, Westvleteren (Dutch: Sint-Sixtusabdij Westvleteren), which belongs to the Cistercians of Strict Observance, or Trappists, is a Roman Catholic abbey located in Westvleteren, in the Belgian Province of West Flanders. The abbey is famous for its spiritual life, characterised by prayer, reading, and manual work, the three basic elements of Trappist life. It has also a reputation for its brewery, one of several producers of Trappist beer in Belgium.

Grootebeek British Cemetery is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) burial ground for the dead of the Western Front of the First and Second World War. It is located near Reningelst in the municipality of Poperinge in western Belgium. The cemetery is surrounded by farmland and can only be reached via a 100-metre grassed path which is not suitable for vehicles.

Brandhoek is a small hamlet in Belgium situated between Ypres, Vlamertinge and Poperinge just off the N308/N38.Brandhoek was used as a Field Ambulance and Casualty Clearing Station during World War I and contains three Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemeteries: Brandhoek Military with 601 burials Brandhoek New Military with 514 burials, including Captain Noel Chavasse, Double VC (a memorial plaque is situated just outside Brandhoek Church with the British flag flying) and also Private C.A. Rudd who was his batman. Brandhoek New Military No 3 with 849 Burials. A quarter of the graves are Royal Artillery due to the many gun positions in the vicinity.

Westvleteren is a village in the province of West Flanders, Belgium. It is a section of the municipality of Vleteren. The core of it is a linear settlement along the N321 road. Westvleteren is primarily known for the Westvleteren Brewery (Dutch: Brouwerij Westvleteren), a brewery founded in 1838 inside the Trappist Abbey of Saint Sixtus of Westvleteren. Its beers have often been rated best in the entire world. The current brewing capacity is roughly 500,000 cases per year. While taste is highly subjective and individual, some international beer drinkers consider the Westvleteren 12 to be among their favourite beers. The majority of members of BeerAdvocate and RateBeer, two beer rating websites, consistently rate the Westvleteren 12 as their most enjoyable beer; the 8 and the Blonde also rank highly on both sites. The parish and the church were named after Saint Martin of Tours. The Saint Martin Church (Dutch: Sint-Martinuskerk) is of late Gothic style with Romanesque components, and is a protected building.

Abele (also spelled Abeele) is a small village or hamlet in the city of Poperinge, in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The village is located on the territory of Poperinge proper and its "deelgemeente" Watou, but is also partly located on French territory. Abele has about 600 inhabitants, of whom about 100 are French. The main street coincides with the border between Belgium and France, so houses located on different sides of the street are located in a different country. The church of Abele is located on French territory, but the services are organized by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bruges. The Kerkfabriek of Watou and the local authorities of Boeschepe are responsible for its maintenance. Abele used to be an import border crossing. In 1713, a tollhouse was set up, but it disappeared during the French Revolution. The old Belgian customs office was renovated and now serves as a retro-café with a small exhibition. Abeele Aerodrome Military Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery is outside the village, on the site of a World War I military airfield.

Mont Noir (Zwarte Berg in Dutch) is a 152 metres (499 ft) high hill located on the French-Belgian border, a few kilometres from Bailleul. It takes its name from the presence of a high concentration of black pine woodland, which covers the hillside.

Berthen (French pronunciation: [bɛʁtɛn]; in Dutch: Berten), located at the foot of Mont des Cats, is a commune in the Nord department in northern France.It is 2 km (1.2 mi) from the Belgian border, and 5 km (3.1 mi) north of Bailleul.
