St. Sixtus' Abbey

Westvleteren (Dutch: Brouwerij Westvleteren) is a brewery founded in 1838 at the Trappist Abbey of Saint Sixtus in Vleteren, Belgium. The brewery's three beers have acquired an international reputation for taste and quality; Westvleteren 12 is considered by some to be the best beer in the world. The beers are not brewed to commercial demands but are sold in small quantities weekly from the doors of the monastery itself, to individual buyers on an advance-order basis.

Its beers have often been rated best in the entire world. The current brewing capacity is roughly 500,000 cases per year. While taste is highly subjective and individual, some international beer drinkers consider the Westvleteren 12 to be among their favourite beers. The majority of members of BeerAdvocate and RateBeer, two beer rating websites, consistently rate the Westvleteren 12 as their most enjoyable beer; the 8 and the Blonde also rank highly on both sites. The parish and the church were named after Saint Martin of Tours. The Saint Martin Church (Dutch: Sint-Martinuskerk) is of late Gothic style with Romanesque components, and is a protected building.

Vleteren (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvleːtərə(n)]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Oostvleteren, Westvleteren and Woesten. On January 1, 2006, Vleteren had a total population of 3,636. The total area is 38.15 km2 which gives a population density of 95 inhabitants per km2.

The municipality comprises the town of Poperinge proper and surrounding villages. The area is famous for its hops and lace.

Reninge Heliport (ICAO: EBLR) is a private heliport located near Reninge, West Flanders, Belgium.

Proven is a rural village in the Belgian province of West Flanders, and a "deelgemeente" of the municipality Poperinge. The village has about 1400 inhabitants. The church and parish of Proven are named after Saint Victor. The Saint Victor Church was rebuilt in 1806, after the late Gothic church from the early 17th century burnt down in 1802. In popular speech, the tower is called "peperbus" (pepper shaker).

Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery is a Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) burial ground for the dead of the First World War in the Ypres Salient on the Western Front. After Tyne Cot, it is the second largest cemetery for Commonwealth forces in Belgium. Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery is located near Poperinge in the province of West Flanders. Most of those buried in the cemetery are war casualties who had been wounded near Ypres and later died in the four large Allied casualty clearing stations located in this area.

Pollinkhove is a village in Lo-Reninge, in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The Lovaart canal separates the village centre from the small city of Lo. The River IJzer forms the south boundary. The church and parish are named after Saint Bartholomew. The gothic Saint Bartholowew's church has a 63-metre-high (207 ft) tower dating from the 16th century.

Red Farm Military Cemetery is a British military cemetery with fallen from the First World War, located in the Belgian village of Vlamertinge (Ypres). The cemetery is located about 2.9 km west of the village center, in the hamlet of Brandhoek. It was designed by Arthur Hutton and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. With an area of only 172 m2, it is one of the smallest British cemeteries. The site is enclosed by a brick wall and is accessible via a grass path of 25 m. The Cross of Sacrifice is close to the entrance on the southern side. 49 dead are commemorated.

Brandhoek is a small hamlet in Belgium situated between Ypres, Vlamertinge and Poperinge just off the N308/N38.Brandhoek was used as a Field Ambulance and Casualty Clearing Station during World War I and contains three Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemeteries: Brandhoek Military with 601 burials Brandhoek New Military with 514 burials, including Captain Noel Chavasse, Double VC (a memorial plaque is situated just outside Brandhoek Church with the British flag flying) and also Private C.A. Rudd who was his batman. Brandhoek New Military No 3 with 849 Burials. A quarter of the graves are Royal Artillery due to the many gun positions in the vicinity.

Reninge is a town in north-west Belgium in the province of West Flanders with approximately 1,000 inhabitants. Since the reforms of 1977, it is located in the municipality of Lo-Reninge and is part of the Arrondissement of Diksmuide. Its postcode is B-8647.
