Unciano Colleges (UC), Inc. is a private school with branches in Sta. Mesa, Manila and in Antipolo. The institution is known for its medical science programs and is affiliated the Unciano Colleges and General Hospital in Manila (45years). The Antipolo campus has been providing tertiary education for 29 years now. It provides undergraduate courses in Medical Technology, Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Radiologic Technology. Aside from these allied health courses, the campus also has a Hospitality and Tourism Management department with BS Hotel and Restaurant Management and BS Tourism Management. Additionally, the school currently offers basic education, including Senior High School (SHS). Interested SHS students have the option of choosing between the ABM strand and the STEM strand.

Victorino Mapa Street, also known by its short form V. Mapa Street, is the main north–south road in the district of Santa Mesa in Manila, Philippines. The street, including its eastern extension, runs for 1.6 kilometers (0.99 mi) from the junction with Magsaysay Boulevard in the north to Pat Antonio Street in the southeast by the San Juan River that serves as the district's border with San Juan and Mandaluyong. It is home to Don Bosco School, Manila, Unciano Colleges and General Hospital, and several new condominiums and a few motels. A portion of the street forms part of Radial Road 5 (R-5) of Manila's arterial road network where it links with Padre Sanchez Street (named after Jesuit priest Francisco de Paula Sanchez from the Ateneo Municipal de Manila) and eventually connects to Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong. It is served by V. Mapa LRT Station along Magsaysay Boulevard. Its section from its northern terminus at Magsaysay Boulevard to Valenzuela Street is designated as part of National Route 183 (N183), while its section from Valenzuela Street to P. Sanchez Street is designated as part of National Route 141 (N141); both numbered routes are part of the Philippine highway system. The rest of the route up to Pat Antonio Street is an unnumbered street.

V. Mapa station is a station on the Manila Light Rail Transit System Line 2. It is one of the many elevated stations that can be found on the line and also one of the four stations in the line with a reserve track nearby (in front of the UERMMC) together with Santolan, Anonas and Araneta Center–Cubao. The station during its inception was formerly called as "G. Araneta Station" but was renamed into the current name due to the minor realignment of some stations (the other being Betty Go-Belmonte) that has caused the change of proximity to the V. Mapa Street. The station serves the areas of Santa Mesa, Manila, Quezon City, and San Juan. The station is located at Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, near its intersection with Victorino Mapa Street in Santa Mesa, Manila. The station is the tenth station for trains headed to Recto and the fourth station for trains headed to Antipolo. The station has a standard layout, with a concourse level and a platform level. The concourse is below the platform, with stairs, escalators, and elevators leading up to the platform level. The levels are separated by fare gates. The station is also sometimes referred to as Santa Mesa Station. It is named after its location near the junction with V. Mapa Street, which was in turn named after Victorino Mapa, the second Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Philippines.

The San Juan River Bridge (Filipino: Tulay ng Ilog San Juan), also known as Pinaglabanan Bridge, San Juan del Monte Bridge, San Juan Bridge and the Old Santa Mesa Bridge, is a bridge that connects San Juan and Manila, spanning the San Juan River. The 46.85-meter (153.7 ft) bridge connects the N. Domingo Street in San Juan and Old Santa Mesa Street in Manila. The location of the bridge served as a battlefield during the 1896 Philippine Revolution against the Spaniards and the 1899 Philippine–American War. On, January 29, 1899, Colonel Luciano San Miguel, Filipino Commander had his first meeting with Colonel John M. Stotsenburg, Commander of the First Nebraska Volunteers on this bridge to discuss the boundaries of their respective forces. On February 4, 1899, an encounter between the Filipino and American forces led to a shooting incident and sparked the Battle of Manila.On February 5, 2009, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines installed a historical marker on San Juan River Bridge commemorating its role to the start of the Battle of Manila.

The Battle of Manila (Filipino: Labanan sa Maynila; Spanish: Batalla de Manila), the first and largest battle of the Philippine–American War, was fought on February 4–5, 1899, between 19,000 American soldiers and 15,000 Filipino armed militiamen. Armed conflict broke out when American troops, under orders to turn away insurgents from their encampment, fired upon an encroaching group of Filipinos. Philippine President Emilio Aguinaldo attempted to broker a ceasefire, but American General Elwell Stephen Otis rejected it and fighting escalated the next day. It ended in an American victory, although minor skirmishes continued for several days afterward.

SM City Sta. Mesa, formerly known as SM Centerpoint, is a shopping mall located at Magsaysay Boulevard corner Gregorio Araneta Avenue, Barangay Doña Imelda, Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It is the second SM Supermall, second in Quezon City, and the seventh SM branch developed and operated by SM Prime Holdings owned by Henry Sy, Sr. It has a land area of 3 hectares (7.4 acres) and has a gross floor area of an approximate 133,327 m2 (1,435,120 sq ft).

Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School (SHJCS) is a private Catholic school located in Santa Mesa, Manila, beside this is the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. The school's name is named after their parish patron, Sacred Heart of Jesus. The school was formerly known as Sta. Mesa Parochial School. The director of the school is the Rev. Fr. Marion C. Munda and the principal is Dr. Henry A. Davalos.

Don Bosco School Manila (full school name: Don Bosco School (Salesian Sisters), Inc. - Manila, also known as DBS), is an educational institution owned and operated by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA) in the National Capital Region of the Philippines. Established in 1989, Don Bosco School Manila offers co-educational education for primary (elementary) and secondary education (high-school and senior high school). Don Bosco School also offers night school (Alternative Learning System).

Santa Mesa station is a railway station located on the South Main Line in the city of Manila, Philippines. It is one of two stations (the other is Pasay Road) in the line to have its own access road. The station is the fourth station southbound from Tutuban and is the only railway station serving Santa Mesa. In addition to having its own dedicated access road, Santa Mesa station is also one of three stations (the others being Pasay Road and España) to have its original platforms extended and raised in order to accommodate new PNR diesel multiple units. The original platforms have been retained for the use of Commuter Express locomotives and especially for intercity trains, although Santa Mesa is not designated as a station where these trains can stop. The station used to serve the Santa Mesa-Mandaluyong branch line, also known as Guadalupe line, which used to run up to Antipolo and Montalban. This line has since been dismantled.

The Polytechnic University of the Philippines Laboratory High School (Filipino: Sanayang Mataas na Paaralan ng Politeknikong Unibersidad ng Pilipinas), abbreviated as PUPLHS, is the laboratory school of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines College of Education located in PUP Mabini Campus, Sta. Mesa, Manila. It was established in 1954 as the Philippine College of Commerce High School offering commercial courses, and is the first high school to offer commercial curriculum in the Philippines. The school has a student population of 541 in 2015.
