Cernica is a commune in the southeast part of Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania, with a population of 11,871 as of 2021. It is composed of five villages: Bălăceanca, Căldăraru, Cernica, Poșta and Tânganu. The commune lent its name to the Cernica Monastery, an early 17th-century Orthodox monastery in the nearby town of Pantelimon. The name is also given to the Cernica Forest, the largest wooded area around Bucharest. The name of the commune is derived from the name of the vornic Cernica Știrbei and is of Slavic origin, meaning "black".

Glina is a commune in the south-east of Ilfov county, Muntenia, Romania. Its name is derived from Slavic Glina, meaning "clay". It is composed of three villages: Cățelu, Glina, and Manolache. The commune is the site of the Glina sewage treatment plant. Cățelu is the site of Battery 9–10, the best known – and most visited – former military fort from a defensive circle of fortifications surrounding Bucharest that was built in the late 19th century, during the reign of King Carol I.

Brănești is a commune in the far east of Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania. Its name is derived from Bran, a Romanian name, and the suffix -ești. It is composed of four villages: Brănești, Islaz, Pasărea, and Vadu Anei. The commune is located 21 km (13 mi) east of downtown Bucharest, on the border with Călărași County. It lies on the left bank of the river Pasărea, which separates it from the town of Pantelimon and the commune Cernica to the west. Brănești is traversed by the A2 motorway, which connects Bucharest to Constanța on the Black Sea coast, and by national road DN3, which connects Bucharest to Călărași and on to Constanța. County road DJ100 goes south towards Fundeni and northwest towards Găneasa, Afumați, Ștefăneștii de Jos, Tunari, and Otopeni. The commune also has several train stations that serve the CFR Line 800, which runs from Bucharest to the Black Sea coast. Pasărea Monastery, dating from 1813, is located in Pasărea village. The Cătălin Hîldan Stadium was the home stadium of FC Victoria Brănești, a professional football club founded in 1968 and dissolved in 2012. Brănești has three high schools: the Traian Lalescu Theoretical High School, the Cezar Nicolau Technological High School, and the Theodor Pietraru Forest College.

Lake Pantelimon is an anthropic lake located in the northern part of the city of Bucharest, developed on the Colentina River, in the area where it flows through the urban area of the city, situated between Lake Cernica upstream and Lake Dobroești downstream.

The Șindrilița is a left tributary of the river Pasărea in Romania. It flows into the Pasărea in the village Pasărea. Its length is 12 km (7.5 mi) and its basin size is 59 km2 (23 sq mi).

It holds 2,500 people, all on seats.The stadium is named after Cătălin Hîldan, the former Dinamo Bucharest player who died on the field during a game.

Anghel Saligny, known for a short time as Linia de Centură ("Ring Road"), is a metro station in southeastern Bucharest on Line M3. It is the final stop of the Preciziei – Anghel Saligny M3 extension. It was open on 20 November 2008 as part of the extension from Nicolae Grigorescu, which initially operated as a shuttle. The regular operation started on 4 July 2009. Nicolae Teclu, known for a short time as Policolor is a metro station in southeastern Bucharest on Line M3. It is on the Nicolae Grigorescu – Anghel Saligny M3 branch and was opened on 20 November 2008 as part of the extension from Nicolae Grigorescu to Linia de Centură (now Anghel Saligny). Initially, a shuttle started operating between Nicolae Grigorescu and Linia de centura. The regular operation started on 4 July 2009. It is named after Nicolae Teclu, a Romanian chemist.

Operation Reunion was a USAAF military operation aimed at repatriating Allied prisoners of war from Romania after the latter's change of sides in 1944. The operation was preceded by Operation Gunn, named after Lieutenant Colonel (Lt. Col.) James A. Gunn, which had the objective of establishing the connection between Bucharest and the 15th Air Force command from Bari. During the operation, more than 1,000 American, British, Dutch, and French prisoners were airlifted to Italy.
