The Z. E. Cliff House is a historic house located at 29 Powderhouse Terrace in Somerville, Massachusetts. Built about 1900 by a prominent local developer for his own use, it is one of the city's finest examples of residential Shingle style architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The John F. Nichols House is a historic house in Somerville, Massachusetts. The 2.5-story wood-frame house was built c. 1890, and is a well preserved Queen Anne Victorian. The house as a prominent corner bay which is topped by a steeply pitched gable roof. There is also a front gable dormer and side shed dormers on what is otherwise a hipped roof. The gable ends are decorated with jigsaw woodwork, as is the front porch.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Charles H. Lockhardt House is a historic house in Somerville, Massachusetts, United States. Charles H. Lockhardt, a prosperous undertaker in Somerville, built this 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame Queen Anne style house in c. 1890. Its most prominent feature is its turret, a three-story polygonal projection from the southeast corner of the building, which is capped by a finial-topped roof. The property includes a period carriage house, which features a cupola.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The Powder Alarm was a major popular reaction to the removal of gunpowder from a magazine by British soldiers under orders from General Thomas Gage, royal governor of the Province of Massachusetts Bay, on September 1, 1774. In response to this action, amid rumors that blood had been shed, alarm spread through the countryside to Connecticut and beyond, and American Patriots sprang into action, fearing that war was at hand. Thousands of militiamen began streaming toward Boston and Cambridge, and mob action forced Loyalists and some government officials to flee to the protection of the British Army. Although it proved to be a false alarm, the Powder Alarm caused political and military leaders to proceed more carefully in the days ahead, and essentially provided a "dress rehearsal" for the Battles of Lexington and Concord seven and a half months later. Furthermore, actions on both sides to control weaponry, gunpowder, and other military supplies became more contentious, as the British sought to bring military stores more directly under their control, and the Patriot colonists sought to acquire them for their own use.

Powder House Square is a neighborhood and landmark rotary in Somerville, Massachusetts, United States. It is also known locally as Powder House Circle. It is the 6-way intersection of College Avenue, Broadway, Warner Street, and Powder House Boulevard. Powder House Square stands at the southern tip of Tufts University's main Somerville/Medford campus, and borders the northern edge of Nathan Tufts Park. The square takes its name from the 18th century Powder House which overlooks the rotary from Nathan Tufts Park. Powder House Square was home to one of the first hostile acts of the American Revolutionary War. The removal of colonial gunpowder by British soldiers, and the massive popular reaction known as Powder Alarm that ensued, are considered to be a turning point in the events leading up to war.

The house at 197 Morrison Avenue in Somerville, Massachusetts is the city's finest example of vernacular Gothic Revival architecture. The two story brick building was built c. 1860, and is now set well back from the street behind a later house. Its notable features include bargeboard decoration in the front gable, which also has a Gothic lancet window, and its elaborate front porch decorations. The house is unusual for its position set well back from the street, since it predates the major development that took place on Morrison Avenue in the 1870s.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

The West Somerville Branch Library is a historic library at 40 College Avenue in Somerville, Massachusetts, just outside Davis Square. It is a fine local example of Classical Revival architecture, built in 1909 with funding support from Andrew Carnegie, and was the city's first branch library. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.

Q Division Studios is a recording studio located in Somerville, Massachusetts, United States. Founded in 1986, Q Division was originally located at 443 Albany Street in Boston, but moved to its current two-studio facility in 2000. Bands that have recorded at Q Division include Pixies, who recorded their debut album Surfer Rosa at the studio. Other bands and artists who have recorded at the studio include James Taylor, Aimee Mann, Jerry Douglas, Buffalo Tom, Gigolo Aunts, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Dropkick Murphys, Jon Brion, Merrie Amsterburg, YoYo Ma, The Click Five, Al Kooper, Morphine, Graham Parker, Fountains of Wayne, State Radio, Mission of Burma, and Abandoned Pools. Recording Engineers who have worked at Q Division include Mike Denneen, Jon Lupfer, Rich Costey, Steve Albini, Kris Smith, Shane O'Connor, Sean Slade and Paul Kolderie.

Saint Clement School, also Saint Clement Junior-Senior High School, was a private, Roman Catholic secondary school in Medford, Massachusetts. It was located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston.

Lyndell's Bakery is a bakery in Ball Square in Somerville, Massachusetts. In December 2007, it celebrated 120 years of operation. Lyndell's is a classic, full-service American bakery, a rare holdout in New England communities.

The Davis Square statues, entitled Ten Figures, are life-sized cast concrete public sculpture, created by James Tyler, located in Davis Square, Somerville, Massachusetts at or near the Davis, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority subway station. The statues are mostly based on people who lived near Davis Square in the 1980s. In 1996 bronze "masks" were added to the sculptures to repair damage and deter future vandalism.

Davis Square is a major intersection in the northwestern section of Somerville, Massachusetts where several streets meet: Holland Street, Dover Street, Day Street, Elm Street, Highland Avenue, and College Avenue. The name is often used to refer to the West Somerville neighborhood surrounding the square as well. Davis Square is located approximately four miles from downtown Boston, and two miles from mid-Cambridge. The square is served by the Davis Square Station, one of the stops on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA)'s Red Line. Davis abuts the Powder House Square, Magoun Square and Spring Hill neighborhoods, as well as Tufts University.Davis Square is today a vibrant commercial, retail, nightlife and dining district. Businesses in Davis range from stores to restaurants to even a martial arts school. Davis fell into decline after World War II. After the Red Line was extended to Davis in the mid-1980s, however, the area began to experience a prolonged renaissance.
