Nazareth Regional High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Brooklyn, New York. It is located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. Nazareth is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, co-educational private Catholic high school that offers a 4-year academic, college preparatory and religious education curriculum. It is governed by a policy-making lay board of trustees and is affiliated with the American Central Province of the Xaverian Brothers. The school is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York, and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Nazareth Regional High School serves approximately 400 students from the New York metropolitan area.

Recently the former principal Mr. Matthew Brown has stepped down as principal at The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School. Ms. Veronica Coleman is the principal.

Samuel J. Tilden High School is a New York City public high school in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York City. It was named for Samuel J. Tilden, the former governor of New York State and presidential candidate who, although carrying the popular vote, lost to Rutherford B. Hayes in the disputed election of 1876. In order to save the New York City government money during the Great Depression, Samuel J. Tilden High School, Bayside High School, Abraham Lincoln High School, John Adams High School, Walton High School, Andrew Jackson High School, and Grover Cleveland High School and Far Rockaway High School were all built from one set of blueprints.

The Jackie Robinson House is a historic house at 5224 Tilden Avenue in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. Built c. 1912-1916, it is prominent as the home of baseball great Jackie Robinson from 1947, when he was awarded Rookie of the Year, through 1949, when he was voted Most Valuable Player. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.

Kouwenhoven was a train station along the Bay Ridge Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The station opened in 1893, at Kings Highway and East 53rd Street. The station closed and was subsequently removed with the end of passenger service on May 14, 1924. As of July 2021, the tracks remain active with freight activity operated by the New York and Atlantic Railway.

The Glenwood Houses is a 22.39-acre (9.06 ha) moderate to low income public housing development operated by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in the Flatlands section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The development is bordered by Ralph Avenue on the east, East 56th Street on the west, Glenwood Road/Avenue H on the south, and Farragut Road on the north side.

East Flatbush is a residential neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. East Flatbush is bounded by Crown Heights and Empire Boulevard to the north; Brownsville and East 98th Street to the east; Flatlands/Canarsie and the Long Island Rail Road's Bay Ridge Branch to the south; and Flatbush and Nostrand/New York Avenues to the west. South Shore High School is one of the two defunct New York City public high schools in Canarsie, Brooklyn, the other being Canarsie High School. Opened in 1970, it had a capacity of 4000 students in grades nine through twelve. At the peak of enrollment, during the 1972-74 school years, the comprehensive high school had a student population of 6,800, making South Shore the second largest high school in the United States at the time. To accommodate the large capacity of students 13 class periods were provided. The freshmen and sophomores were accommodated in the afternoon–early evening, while juniors and seniors were instructed in the early to late morning. South Shore High School participated in City University of New York's College Now program, which provided senior-year students the opportunity to take courses for college credit on the high school campus. The program was run in cooperation with Kingsborough Community College. While South Shore High was relatively problem-free through the 1970s and most of the 1980s, there were a few incidents, particularly during the 1970–71 school year. Several student riots occurred during that opening year, forcing its first principal, Max Bromer, to resign. A riot occurred outside the school on the last day of classes in June 1987, one student was shot to death off campus in May 1990, in July 1990 a student was shot right outside the school in the rotunda; he died in the hospital 5 days later. Another student was stabbed to death in a stairwell in September 1992. Because of increasing security problems, South Shore High School is now closed and its final class graduated in June 2010. Five smaller schools are now operating on the campus: Brooklyn Theater Arts High School, Brooklyn Bridge Academy, Brooklyn Generation School, Victory Collegiate High School and, Academy for Conservation and the Environment, as well as the South Shore Young Adult Borough Center (YABC), an alternative high school evening program and a Charter school Making it a total of Seven schools in the building.The Brooklyn Comprehensive Night High School operated on the campus of South Shore High School beginning in 1970, but was closed in 2007. South shore is known for a visit from the 1989 Cast of the movie sing. Johnny kemp sang his hit song”Just got Paid”.

The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center (often called Brookdale Hospital, or Brookdale for short) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) medical services provider in the borough of Brooklyn, New York City. Brookdale's primary and secondary service areas together comprise 1 million residents. It serves most of Eastern Brooklyn: Brownsville, East New York, Canarsie and East Flatbush.In 2017, it was described as "struggling." In 2009 they had 'let go' 240 employees.

Flatbush General Hospital was a private "operated for profit" hospitalWhen the 719 Linden Boulevard (corner East 49th Street) facility closed, their medical records were transferred to Mount Sinai Brooklyn, a nearby hospital.
