East Flatbush, Brooklyn

Kouwenhoven was a train station along the Bay Ridge Branch of the Long Island Rail Road. The station opened in 1893, at Kings Highway and East 53rd Street. The station closed and was subsequently removed with the end of passenger service on May 14, 1924. As of July 2021, the tracks remain active with freight activity operated by the New York and Atlantic Railway.

Nazareth Regional High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Brooklyn, New York. It is located within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. Nazareth is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, co-educational private Catholic high school that offers a 4-year academic, college preparatory and religious education curriculum. It is governed by a policy-making lay board of trustees and is affiliated with the American Central Province of the Xaverian Brothers. The school is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York, and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Nazareth Regional High School serves approximately 400 students from the New York metropolitan area.

The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School (the Kurt Hahn School) is a New York City public school working in partnership with New York City Outward Bound and Expeditionary Learning. Recently the former principal Mr. Matthew Brown has stepped down as principal at The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School. Ms. Veronica Coleman is the principal.

Samuel J. Tilden High School is a New York City public high school in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York City. It was named for Samuel J. Tilden, the former governor of New York State and presidential candidate who, although carrying the popular vote, lost to Rutherford B. Hayes in the disputed election of 1876. In order to save the New York City government money during the Great Depression, Samuel J. Tilden High School, Bayside High School, Abraham Lincoln High School, John Adams High School, Walton High School, Andrew Jackson High School, and Grover Cleveland High School and Far Rockaway High School were all built from one set of blueprints.

Holy Cross Cemetery located at 3620 Tilden Avenue in East Flatbush, Brooklyn, New York City is an American Roman Catholic cemetery operated by the Diocese of Brooklyn.

The Wyckoff House, or Pieter Claesen Wyckoff House, is a historic house at 5816 Clarendon Road in the Canarsie neighborhood of Brooklyn in New York City. The house is within Milton Fidler Park. It is situated on land that Wouter van Twiller purchased from the local Lenape people in approximately 1636. (Europeans often referred to the native inhabitants simply by the Lenape language place name for the larger area: "Canarsie", in this case.: 32–33 ) The house was one of several ordered built by Wouter van Twiller before he was recalled to Holland by 1640. The house is estimated to have been built before Van Twiller returned to Holland, c. 1636–1640. The Wyckoff family moved in, ca. 1652, The house is one of the oldest surviving examples of a Dutch frame house in America, and it was one of the first structures built by Europeans on Long Island. The majority of the current structure was added in the 19th century, with the small kitchen section dating back to the 18th century. It is owned by New York City but is operated by The Wyckoff House & Association. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1967 and is a New York City designated landmark.

Flatbush General Hospital was a private "operated for profit" hospitalWhen the 719 Linden Boulevard (corner East 49th Street) facility closed, their medical records were transferred to Mount Sinai Brooklyn, a nearby hospital.

Catherine McAuley High School was a small, all-girls', private, Catholic high school in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York. Founded by the Brooklyn Sisters of Mercy in 1942, it is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. It remains the only all-girls' Catholic high school in Brooklyn or Queens to have earned the Blue Ribbon Award from the U.S. Department of Education. McAuley closed at the end of the 2012-2013 school year. The closing was the result of declining enrollment due to changing demographics, the increasing number of charter schools, rising costs, and the economic downturn. The final commencement took place on Saturday, June 1, 2013.

The Glenwood Houses is a 22.39-acre (9.06 ha) moderate to low income public housing development operated by the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) in the Flatlands section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The development is bordered by Ralph Avenue on the east, East 56th Street on the west, Glenwood Road/Avenue H on the south, and Farragut Road on the north side.

Remsen Village, also formerly known as Rugby, is a neighborhood in central Brooklyn, New York City. It comprises the eastern part of the larger neighborhood of East Flatbush area, and is administered by Brooklyn Community Board 17.

Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center is a 303-bed full-service community teaching hospital with an estimated 2,100 full-time employees, located in the neighborhood of East Flatbush in Brooklyn, New York. The hospital is made up of a complex of eight conjoined buildings which are dispersed over a 366,000 square foot city block. It is currently under the network of Kingsbrook Healthcare System Corporation which, in addition to the hospital, comprises Rutland Nursing Home, containing 466 short and long term-care beds, Rutland Adult Day Healthcare Center, and its ancillary outpatient clinics. The hospital serves a diverse population from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds. Kingsbrook is accredited by the Joint Commission and is a non-for-profit member of both the Greater New York Hospital Association and the Healthcare Association of New York State. Kingsbrook provides ambulatory surgery, cardiology, critical care medicine, emergency/urgent care, gastroenterology, pulmonary, a ventilator dependent unit, wound care including hyperbaric chambers, diagnostic imaging including MRI and CT scanning, and an outpatient center. The hospital is part of an ongoing merger of Brooklyn hospitals under the banner of One Brooklyn Health System including Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and Interfaith Medical Center with which New York State has invested nearly $700 million.

Congregation Beth Israel, was a synagogue in East Flatbush neighborhood of New York City. It met at 203 E. 37th St., a building they put up in 1928. The synagogue membership declined with the migration of the local Jewish populace to wealthier areas of Brooklyn and to the suburbs. It became defunct around 1970, and sold its building to Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day at that time. The former synagogue building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. It is a two-story rectangular structure of buff brick, with Romanesque and Classical Revival style elements. It has a tripartite front façade with round arch windows. It features the Star of David on the front fence, the stained glass windows, pews, and plaster work.
