Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center is a 303-bed full-service community teaching hospital with an estimated 2,100 full-time employees, located in the neighborhood of East Flatbush in Brooklyn, New York. The hospital is made up of a complex of eight conjoined buildings which are dispersed over a 366,000 square foot city block. It is currently under the network of Kingsbrook Healthcare System Corporation which, in addition to the hospital, comprises Rutland Nursing Home, containing 466 short and long term-care beds, Rutland Adult Day Healthcare Center, and its ancillary outpatient clinics. The hospital serves a diverse population from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds. Kingsbrook is accredited by the Joint Commission and is a non-for-profit member of both the Greater New York Hospital Association and the Healthcare Association of New York State. Kingsbrook provides ambulatory surgery, cardiology, critical care medicine, emergency/urgent care, gastroenterology, pulmonary, a ventilator dependent unit, wound care including hyperbaric chambers, diagnostic imaging including MRI and CT scanning, and an outpatient center. The hospital is part of an ongoing merger of Brooklyn hospitals under the banner of One Brooklyn Health System including Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and Interfaith Medical Center with which New York State has invested nearly $700 million.

East Flatbush is a residential neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. East Flatbush is bounded by Crown Heights and Empire Boulevard to the north; Brownsville and East 98th Street to the east; Flatlands/Canarsie and the Long Island Rail Road's Bay Ridge Branch to the south; and Flatbush and Nostrand/New York Avenues to the west. East Flatbush is a predominantly African American neighborhood and has a population of 135,619 as of the 2010 United States Census. East Flatbush is part of Brooklyn Community District 17, and its primary ZIP Code is 11203. It is patrolled by the 67th Precinct of the New York City Police Department. Congregation Beth Israel, was a synagogue in East Flatbush neighborhood of New York City. It met at 203 E. 37th St., a building they put up in 1928. The synagogue membership declined with the migration of the local Jewish populace to wealthier areas of Brooklyn and to the suburbs. It became defunct around 1970, and sold its building to Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day at that time. The former synagogue building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009. It is a two-story rectangular structure of buff brick, with Romanesque and Classical Revival style elements. It has a tripartite front façade with round arch windows. It features the Star of David on the front fence, the stained glass windows, pews, and plaster work.

Samuel J. Tilden High School is a New York City public high school in the East Flatbush section of Brooklyn, New York City. It was named for Samuel J. Tilden, the former governor of New York State and presidential candidate who, although carrying the popular vote, lost to Rutherford B. Hayes in the disputed election of 1876. In order to save the New York City government money during the Great Depression, Samuel J. Tilden High School, Bayside High School, Abraham Lincoln High School, John Adams High School, Walton High School, Andrew Jackson High School, and Grover Cleveland High School and Far Rockaway High School were all built from one set of blueprints.

The New American Academy is a Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York public school, PS 770, which opened in the fall of 2010.

The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School (the Kurt Hahn School) is a New York City public school working in partnership with New York City Outward Bound and Expeditionary Learning. Recently the former principal Mr. Matthew Brown has stepped down as principal at The Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School. Ms. Veronica Coleman is the principal.

Wingate is a neighborhood in the north central portion of the New York City borough of Brooklyn. The area is bordered by Prospect Lefferts Gardens to the west, Crown Heights to the north and east, and East Flatbush to the south. Wingate is bounded by Empire Boulevard to the north, Troy Avenue to the east, Winthrop Street to the south, and New York Avenue to the west. The area is part of Brooklyn Community District 9. It is sometimes considered part of Crown Heights, East Flatbush, and/or Prospect Lefferts Gardens.The neighborhood was originally named Pigtown. It was so named because it was the location of several major pig farms that supplied Brooklyn. Pigtown was at the southern periphery of the City of Brooklyn where it bordered the Town of Flatbush. On modern maps it is bounded on the north by Empire Boulevard (formerly Malbone Street), on the south by Midwood Street, on the east by Albany Avenue and on the west by Nostrand Avenue. Future drag racer Frederick DiNome and his criminal brother Richard DiNome were born and raised in Pigtown.as was Rudy Giuliani, who spent his first seven years there. The neighborhood was renamed to Wingate in the 2000s by real estate developers enjoying the massive influx of new people to Brooklyn. It is named for the now-defunct George W. Wingate High School, locally called "The Banjo School" because of its shape.

Commercial Field is an athletic field located in the Wingate neighborhood of Brooklyn. It was home to the Commercial High School soccer, football, and baseball teams from around 1906. Other schools, such as Boys High, also called Commercial Field their home from time to time, as did local teams in the American Soccer League in the 1930s. The field was also the home field of the short-lived New York Brickley Giants, of the early National Football League, who played two games there during their 1921 season. In 1926, the Brooklyn Horsemen of the first American Football League used the stadium as their home field. The lot was acquired by the New York Parks Department in 1940, and the field survives today as a multi-sport facility called Hamilton-Metz Field named after US Representative and New York City Comptroller Herman A. Metz and US Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. In 1929, a visiting Bermudan cricket team played several matches at Commercial Field, defeating the All-New York and All-Brooklyn teams. The Bermudans returned for more tours during the 1930s. In 2006, a $1.57 million restoration was completed, with the field relaid in artificial turf. Neighborhood residents often refer to the field by yet another name, Lefferts Park.

The Billie Holiday Theatre is as 218-seat theatre located in the New York neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. It opened in May 1972, It was founded by the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.The Billie Holiday Theatre is a nonprofit organization located at 1368 Fulton Street, inside the Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation's Restoration Plaza, and is part of a $6 million superblock in Bedford-Stuyvesant eventually housing an ice-skating rink, a supermarket, and the theatre.

George W. Wingate High School is a defunct comprehensive high school in the Prospect Lefferts Gardens and Wingate neighborhoods of Brooklyn, New York City. It opened in 1956 and was closed down in June 2006 due to poor academic performance. The school was then divided into four small schools. The school was named for George Wood Wingate, an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Wingate was the founder of the Public School Athletic League in New York City. The campus now houses four new small schools under the New Visions for Public Schools initiative of the New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE). There are the International Arts Business School, The School for Human Rights, The School for Democracy and Leadership and the High School for Public Service: Heroes of Tomorrow. The high school's sports teams were known as the 'Generals', for George Wingate's rank in the New York National Guard.

Kings County Hospital Center is a municipal hospital located in the East Flatbush neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. It is owned and operated by NYC Health + Hospitals, a municipal agency that runs New York City's public hospitals. It has been affiliated with SUNY Downstate College of Medicine since Downstate's founding as Long Island College Hospital in 1860. Kings County is a member of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. Kings County was named the country's first Level 1 trauma center. It is also a Designated Stroke Center, Level III Perinatal Center, Designated AIDS Center, Parkinson's Disease Center of Excellence, Diabetes Education Center of Excellence, Behavioral Health Center (including inpatient, outpatient with dedicated emergency department) and Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program Center of Excellence. Kings County serves the boroughs of Brooklyn and Staten Island, with over 510,000 clinic visits and 140,000 emergency department visits in 2015. The hospital provides services to more than 800,000 people in the surrounding communities, including 415,650 in the primary service area of Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brownsville, Crown Heights, Canarsie, East Flatbush, East New York, Flatbush, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Ethnic diversity among the mostly black and Hispanic population served (94%) by Kings County is high, with large populations from the Caribbean as well as South American and African countries. Accordingly, Kings County employees speak 39 different languages to meet this diverse population's needs.
