Olza, Silesian Voivodeship

The (Czech: Olše, German: Olsa) is a river in Poland and the Czech Republic, a right (eastern) tributary of the River Oder. It flows from the Silesian Beskids mountains through southern Cieszyn Silesia in Poland and the Frýdek-Místek and Karviná districts of the Czech Republic, often forming the border with Poland. It flows into the Oder River north of Bohumín. The Olza-Oder confluence also forms a part of the border. The river is a symbol of the Trans-Olza region, which lies on its west bank, constituting a part of the western half of Cieszyn Silesia, as depicted in the words of the unofficial anthem of this region and of local Poles, Płyniesz Olzo po dolinie (Thou flowest, Olza, down the valley), written by Jan Kubisz. The Olza has also inspired many other artists. Among those who have written about the river are Adolf Fierla, Pola Gojawiczyńska, Emanuel Grim, Julian Przyboś, Vladislav Vančura, and Adam Wawrosz. The singer Jaromír Nohavica has used the Olza as a motif in several of his songs.

Odra [ˈɔdra] is a village in Gmina Gorzyce, Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland. It is situated on the Odra River. It was first mentioned in a written document in 1185, in 1418 for the first under its current name.

Zabełków [zaˈbɛu̯kuf] is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Krzyżanowice, within Racibórz County, Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland, close to the Czech border. It has a population of 573 (2022) (together with Kopytov). The village lies in the historical region of Cieszyn Silesia. The village was first mentioned in a written document in 1482. The settlement of Kopytov (Polish: Kopytów, German: Kapitau) is administratively a part of Šunychl from 1920 and lies on the confluence of the Olza and Odra rivers.

Uchylsko [uˈxɨlskɔ] is a village in Gmina Gorzyce, Wodzisław County, Silesian Voivodeship, Poland, near the border with the Czech Republic. It was first mentioned in a written document in 1229. It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) south-west of Gorzyce, 8 km (5 mi) south-west of Wodzisław Śląski, and 56 km (35 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice. The village was first mentioned in the document of Pope Gregory IX issued on 26 May 1229 among villages belonging to Benedictine abbey in Tyniec, as Uchilsko. Benedictine abbey in Orlová (established in 1268) in the late 13th century had rights to revenues from three villages in the Castellany of Racibórz, namely Gorzyce, Uchylsko and Gołkowice.

It lies approximately 2 kilometres (1 mi) north-west of Gorzyce, 6 km (4 mi) south-west of Wodzisław Śląski, and 54 km (34 mi) south-west of the regional capital Katowice.
