KDAT (104.5 FM) is a radio station broadcasting an adult contemporary music format. Licensed to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the station serves the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City area. The station is currently owned by Townsquare Media. KDAT's studios are located in the Alliant Energy Building on Second Street SE in Cedar Rapids, and its transmitter is located in Robins. On August 30, 2013, a deal was announced in which Townsquare would acquire 53 Cumulus stations, including KDAT, for $238 million. The deal is part of Cumulus' acquisition of Dial Global; Townsquare and Dial Global are both controlled by Oaktree Capital Management. The sale to Townsquare was completed on November 14, 2013.

It has a Top 40 (CHR) format entirely staffed with local personalities, including morning DJs Eric Hanson, Clare, and Destiny, known as “The Morning Scramble.” The station's transmitter is located in Hiawatha, Iowa, and its signal reaches most of eastern Iowa, including Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo, and the Quad Cities area. It also reaches Prairie du Chien, and Platteville, both in Wisconsin.

In addition to portions of Cedar Rapids, Kennedy High's boundary includes: Hiawatha, Palo, and most of Robins.

The Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival was founded in 2001 to provide a venue for Iowa filmmakers to show their work and for the general public to view the best of the state's filmmaking industry. It is held the first full non-Easter weekend in April, at the Collins Road Theatres in Marion, Iowa, a town adjacent to Cedar Rapids. The Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival is open to independent filmmakers who wish to showcase their productions and network with others. Festival screenings are open to the public. In addition to screenings and awards, the festival also includes seminars, guest speakers and other activities for filmmakers and attendees. This festival is open to all genres and there is no date-of-completion stipulation. Films are accepted from around the country, Unique to this event, all films must meet the criteria of having an Iowa Connection - requiring that an entry has an association with Iowa such as a key crew member or actor born, lived, educated or worked in Iowa; a story set in Iowa or about and Iowa topic; or part or all of the film produced in Iowa.The Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival has frequently screened works from mystery writer and director Max Allan Collins.Producers from the movie The Final Season have appeared at the Festival twice. The movie's trailer premiered at the 2006 event.

The Taylor–Van Note House, also known as Blairs Ferry Wayside Inn/Vanesther Place, is a historic building located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, United States. Charles Taylor had this two-story, wood frame, vernacular Greek Revival house built in 1846. The family owned the house until 1888 when it was sold to Lazarus Van Note, whose family owned it as late as 1985. Oral legend has it that Taylor rented the front rooms to travelers as they passed through the region. It was located close to James Blair's ferry across the Cedar River, which is why it has long been known as the Blairs Ferry Wayside Inn. The house was built of heavy timbers and exemplifies a traditional I-house. It features two rooms on both floors across its length, and one room deep. The main door is flanked by sidelights and a transom across the top. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
